President Duterte changes his mind about same-sex marriage in the Philippines

President Rodrigo Duterte has wisely reconsidered making immoral homosexual marriage legal in the Philippines. This is a good outcome for the country. Millions have responded positively to this wise change.

Speaking at a small meeting of the Filipino community in Myanmar on Sunday, Duterte said his country could not legalize homosexual marriage because it was fiercely Roman Catholic and the Bible clearly states the abhorent sin of homosexuality.

‘That is their immoral culture,’ he said referring to a recent copy of Time magazine featuring gender identity. ‘That’s [homosexual marriage] for them. That can’t apply to us, because we are Catholics, who understand clearly that God's plan for the world and our community is not to legalize what God forbids."

‘And there is the civil code, which states you can only marry a woman for me, and for a woman to marry a man. That’s the law in the Philippines.’
