Ottawa federal employee and homosexual partner imprisoned for child porn
OTTAWA, March 27, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The actions of a mom defending her son have resulted in two Ottawa men, whom Sun News labeled as "perverts," being sentenced to jail for making and possessing child porn.
In court on March 24, federal public servant Scott Dignan, 47, admitted to placing a tiny key fob video camera in the bathroom of the home he shared with his homosexual partner Eric Charron in order to record a 13-year-old boy using the toilet, during a party in the house on January 25, 2013 attended by the boy and his mom.
The astute young teenager realized the key fob on the toilet was a camera and alerted his mom, who grabbed the camera and confronted Dignan.
When the mom and her son tried to leave the house with the camera, Charron blocked their way. The mom then called 911 and handed the camera to police when they arrived.
Police examination of the recording on the camera revealed a video of Dignan setting up the camera, the boy going to the bathroom and the mom discovering the camera and loudly confronting the man, according to an Ottawa Citizen report.
Eric Charron had already been the focus of police investigation after his name came up on a customer database obtained in a Toronto police operation dubbed Project Spade that raided the offices of Azov Films, a major international child porn distributor, in May 2011.
An invoice for a child porn movie was found with Charron’s phone number and the address of the house in Ottawa he shared with Dignan.
A raid on the homosexuals' home last year found thousands of digital images that Dignan admitted in court were his.
Dignan, who has now lost his $90,000-a-year job in the federal public service, was sentenced to two years plus a day in federal prison for voyeurism and child porn possession.
His homosexual partner, Eric Charron, an employee of the Internet security software company McAfee, was given a 90-day jail sentence for possessing child porn, but is being allowed to serve his sentence on weekends so he won't lose his job.
A victim-impact statement, which the Citizen reported the mom was too upset to read in court, described how her son is now terrified to use public restrooms and her fears that her son will now see all homosexual men as pedophiles.
In passing the sentence, Ontario Court Justice Célynne Dorval said, "Making use of a friend to capture images of her son, one can't really overemphasize the degree of the human breach of trust that entails." The judge suggested that Dignan must have been "desperate" to do what he did.
