Obama’s policies are ‘progressively more hostile toward Christian civilization’

Image
ROME, March 20, 2014 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – President Obama’s policies “have become progressively more hostile toward Christian civilization,” said American Cardinal Raymond Burke in an interview published in English exclusively  by LifeSiteNews today. Burke did not mince words in responding to a question about the Catholic reaction to President Obama’s attack on religious freedom , especially through policies such as the controversial HHS mandate . “He appears to be a totally secularized man who aggressively promotes anti-life and anti-family policies,” said Burke. “Now he wants to restrict the exercise of the freedom of religion to freedom of worship, that is, he holds that one is free to act according to his conscience within the confines of his place of worship but that, once the person leaves the place of worship, the government can constrain him to act against his rightly-formed conscience, even in the most serious of moral questions.” The wide-ranging interv...

The municipal commissioner has agreed, saying, “I feel I share the disappointment of these families.” Councillor Gloria Pasquali of the municipal education policies office, said, “It is not a matter of despising someone, but I do not think it is correct to change the schedule of school activities.” She added that Fathers’ Day could be considered educational “for those with no...

Chick-fil-A CEO: I still oppose gay ‘marriage’ but won’t be too vocal about it

Image
ATLANTA, GA , March 20, 2014 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – After two years of battering by homosexual activists and the mainstream media over his opposition to same-sex “marriage,” Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy says he remains committed to the Christian definition of marriage as a union between one man and one woman, but has decided not to be vocal about it. “I think the time of truths and principles are captured and codified in God’s word and I’m just personally committed to that,” Cathy told the  Atlanta Journal-Constitution . “I know others feel very different from that and I respect their opinion and I hope that they would be respectful of mine.” Cathy, 61, set off a firestorm of controversy in 2012 with remarks to a Baptist publication in which he said he was “guilty as charged” for supporting the traditional family. “We are very much supportive of the family—the biblical definition of the family unit,” Cathy  told  the  Baptist Press . “We are a family-own...

On Weddings and Conscience: Are Christians Hypocrites?

Image
Author: Russel Moore. Kirsten Powers and Jonathan Merritt wrote an article for the Daily Beast accusing conservative Christians of hypocrisy and unchristian behavior for suggesting that some persons’ consciences won’t allow them to use their creative gifts to help celebrate same-sex weddings . Since I was a key example of this hypocrisy, I’ll respond to that charge. At issue is a response I made, reposted this week over at the Gospel Coalition , helping a Christian wedding photographer think through whether he ought to work for a same-sex wedding. In the photographer’s question, he grapples with the question of how his conscience ought to play in this decision not only as it relates to weddings of people who, for all he knows, might be involved in all sorts of unbiblical behavior. Powers and Merritt suggest if he refuses to photograph one “unbiblical wedding,” he ought to “refuse to photograph them all.” As a matter of fact, they say, to do anything else is to be “seen as a hyp...

MILAN, Italy , – Famed Italian singer Giuseppe Povia says the persecution he has suffered from homosexuals and their allies in the entertainment business following his controversial 2009 song “Luca era gay” (Luca was gay), about a man who converts from the gay lifestyle to heterosexuality, has ruined his career. In his most recent blog entry, Povia says that since he won second prize for the song at Italy’s Sanremo festival , “Gay associations in many provinces have repeatedly invited me to apologize to the gay community,” and he has found it difficult to find work because of a whispering campaign against him by homosexuals. Italian singer Giuseppe Povia “ Apologize for what? For singing a song? A true story?” asks Povia, adding that he “wants to apologize for not realizing we live in a violent media, psychological, artistic and cultural dictatorship.” “Wherever I present myself … there’s always prejudice,” continued the singer. “Povia is evil, he’s against gay...
