The president plans to kick off June, LGBT Pride Month , by preserving the area around the Greenwich Village, New York , tavern as a site for future generations to revere as the birthplace of the modern LGBT political movement. Brian Sullivan, a former bartender at the establishment, greeted the news with joy, saying, “This is the Mecca; it's where it all started." The Stonewall Riots broke out after New York police raided the establishment, which was being run at t...

Bathrooms are just the beginning: a scary look into the trans movement’s end goals

Image
The battle over men accessing women’s bathrooms and vice versa has little do with bathrooms or even transgenderism, a well-known LGBT activist admitted last week.  It has everything to do with re-working society and getting rid of the “heterobinary structure” in which we live—eliminating distinctions between “male” and “female” altogether. Riki Wilchins , who has undergone “sex change” surgery and is a far-left social change activist, wrote in the gay publication   The Advocate   last week that social conservatives and many LGBT activists are missing the point when it comes to the transgender bathroom debate. The title of Wilchins' article makes the points succinctly: "We'll Win the Bathroom Battle When the Binary Burns." People should be able to enter whatever bathroom “fits their gender identity ,” Wilchins wrote, but the fact that we even have “male” and “female” bathrooms reflects something about society that needs to change.  There are many “gende...

Former gay activist battles megaphone protest at Sydney University

Image
The University of Sydney logo (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) About 100 students provided a rowdy backdrop to a lunchtime talk by former gay activist-turned-Christian family man James Parker at the Sydney University campus today. The protesters from various groups on campus attempted to disrupt the meeting, held by Sydney University Catholic Society as part of a weeklong series of events on issues concerning life and the human condition. The events come in the same week that the Sydney University Union (USU) backed down on removing faith-based membership clauses for religious societies, including the Catholic Society. The USU Board, in a statement, said it was proposing the establishment of an ongoing “Faith Roundtable” to promote greater interfaith and intercultural understanding. Constant heckling, catcalls and booming megaphone speeches failed to silence Parker, who insisted he loved his brothers and sisters outside the tent just as much as the audience inside the tent. “It’s not ...

Obama salutes transgender ‘mothers’ in annual Mother’s Day proclamation

Image
President Barack Obama saluted transgender “ mothers ” in his annual Mother's Day proclamation, the first-ever explicit reference to biological males acting as mothers in the history of the annual presidential message. Obama wrote the encomium in the first paragraph of his   statement , released on Friday. “Regardless of sexual orientation , gender identity , or marital status, mothers have always moved our Nation forward and remained steadfast in their pursuit of a better and brighter future for their children,” Obama wrote. In   last year's proclamation , Obama hailed all mothers, “[w]hether married or single, LGBT or straight, biological, adoptive, or foster.” However, his usage appeared to highlight the mother's sexual orientation, not their underlying biology. One pro-life leader said that conflating the two binary sexes in such a public way confuses children. “Now the ' transgendered ,' if they have children, can be celebrated twice a year as...

Alabama Chief Justice suspended for upholding natural marriage

Image
Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore was temporarily suspended Friday following a complaint against his defense of Alabama ’s marriage laws from the state’s Judicial Inquiry Commission (JIC). Moore now faces charges in the Alabama Court of the Judiciary , which could remove him from the Court if they find he’s violated the Alabama Judicial Canons of Ethics or engaged in misconduct.  The charges focus on Moore’s January 2016 Administrative Order, in which he wrote that state probate judges should “not…issue any marriage license contrary to the Alabama Sanctity of Marriage Amendment or the Alabama Marriage Protection Act.”  Moore instructed judges to not act contrary to state laws defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman until the Supreme Court rules on the effects of its landmark same-sex “marriage” ruling   Obergefell v. Hodges   on the Alabama Supreme Court’s existing orders upholding the state’s marriage laws. Most probate ...

Obama’s AG sues North Carolina, likens bathroom privacy law to segregation

Image
The Justice Department filed a lawsuit today stating that North Carolina has violated federal civil rights laws by overturning ordinances mandating that transgender people can use the restroom and shower facilities of the opposite biological sex. Attorney General Loretta Lynch announced the federal case at a press conference late this afternoon, likening laws that bar biological males from using female showers to Jim Crow laws and segregation measures that forced blacks to use separate drinking fountains. “This is not the first time we have seen discriminatory responses to historic moments of progress to our nation,” said Lynch in a press conference scheduled for 3:30, which began half an hour late. “We saw it in the Jim Crow laws that followed the Emancipation Proclamation. We saw it in the fierce arguments against   Brown v. the Board of Education ” - the 1954 Supreme Court decision that overturned segregation. “And we saw it in the state bans on same-sex u...

North Carolina gov. sues Obama admin in response to threat over transgender restrooms

Image
The governor of North Carolina has defied the Obama administration , asking a judge to dismiss all legal threats against his state for enacting a law that allows public accommodations to determine their own restroom policies. “The Obama administration is bypassing Congress by attempting to rewrite the law and set restroom policies for public and private employers across the country, not just North Carolina,” said Governor Pat McCrory , a Republican. “They are now telling every government agency and every company that employs more than 15 people that men should be allowed to use a women’s locker room, restroom or shower facility.” The new litigation comes the day that the Justice Department set as a deadline for state officials to back down and tell the Obama administration “that the state will not comply with or implement H.B. 2,” the Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act. After the city of Charlotte passed an ordinance requiring all public businesses to allow transge...
