Freedom to Marry reports that it developed the strategy after years of research that found that the personal approach was the most effective. “By shifting the conversation from a focus on rights to a conversation about shared values of love and commitment, support for the freedom to marry grows,” stated the group in a press release. The organization plans to work with local and state groups to distribute the ads.
The largest-ever national public campaign to sway Americans towards same-sex “marriage” launched today, Valentine’s Day, with a media blitz of TV, radio, and online ads.
Last Wednesday, the homosexualist group Freedom to Marry announced the launch of “Why Marriage Matters,” a campaign that features homosexual and heterosexual couples side by side, saying why marriage matters to them.
The organization has pledged to raise and spend $10 million over the next three years on the campaign, which will launch with an initial national cable buy on CNN.
The Freedom to Marry campaign, founded in 2003, aims to deconstruct the legal definition of marriage as between a man and a woman across the United States.
“Across the country the thinking of many Americans, from the president to the people next door, continues to – as President Obama put it – ‘evolve’ toward support for same-sex couples joining in the freedom to marry.
Freedom to Marry’s team has crunched over a decade’s worth of polling data and field experience to crack the code on moving the reachable but not yet reached,” said Evan Wolfson, Founder and President of Freedom to Marry.
The group offers a “tool kit of dynamic, field-tested materials” to help local homosexualist activists push same-sex “marriage” in the 45 U.S. states that maintain the natural marriage definition.
As of January 2009, thirty U.S. states have enshrined the definition of marriage as between a man and a woman in their constitutions, while several more have barred same-sex “marriage” in law.

The group’s website, FreedomtoMarry.org, offers visitors a chance to “pledge your support” for same-sex “marriage.”
