The fight for Godly marriage continues

Image
To hear some commentators talk, America ’s struggle over the meaning of marriage is already over, and conservatives have lost. Like latter-day Edgar Allan Poes, they are busily preparing a premature burial for marriage as a male-female union. Conservatives should imitate Poe’s protagonist and refuse to cooperate with this ghoulish enterprise, showing their opponents that they and their cause are very much alive. Recent suggestions of surrender are noteworthy because they go beyond the now-familiar claims from the left about the “inevitability” of nationally approved same-sex marriage , claims that were always intended as a substitute for actual argument about the proper understanding of marriage. Now, even some voices on the right are speaking of American conservatism ’s coming defeat and surrender on the question of marriage. Calls for capitulation are premature, however, for reasons of both principle and politics. A Matter of Principle As a matter of principle, the Amer...

Immoral homosexuality is simply unhealthy

English: Location of Queensland on Australia. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Queensland has seen a dramatic spike in HIV notifications, with 93 people diagnosed this year, up 34 per cent on the same period 12 months ago. Dr Andrew Redmond from HIV Foundation Queensland says the statistics are alarming. "It's only provisional figures at this stage and we will have more reliable data by the end of the year," he said. "Why we're getting more positives now it's hard to know."We're really trying to test people who are of high risk of HIV, and it's certainly possible that if we're going to test people of high risk, we're going to get more positive tests or it might be the rates are just really going up. "It's very difficult to know." Last year, Queensland was the first state to roll out free rapid HIV tests , where a person knows their HIV status within 30 minutes. Dr Redmond says the vast majority of new HIV notifications are a...

Equal love is just immoral sinful behaviour

I have constantly to recalibrate the sense of unreality enveloping the marriage issue because the distance from reality seems to grow day by day. One of my touchstones is Richard Cohen’s column in the Washington Post , whenever he addresses the subject, as he just has again in his May 20 column. The occasion was the release of an HBO film, “The Normal Heart,” a movie version of Larry Kramer’s play about the beginning of the HIV-AIDS epidemic and the apparent indifference of President Ronald Reagan and New York Mayor Ed Koch. The air of unreality in this column could not be thicker. We begin, of course, with his experience of homophobia as a mere lad of 16, when some yahoo told him about how he beat up homosexuals with brass doorknobs. In benighted America of that time, Cohen tells us, “we knew of racism and anti-Semitism,” but were really unaware of homophobia. I grew up in the 1950s, but I don’t really remember it being okay to beat up anyone with brass doorknobs. I didn’t meet the...

Homosexual sin: pro-homosexual academy will destroy any other view and a scholar’s career.

Image
May 22, 2014 ( FRC ) - Federal judges seem to have entered into an echo chamber of political correctness in their recent rulings in support of the homosexual redefinition of marriage. They ignore or deny obvious truths (like the importance of procreation to the natural definition of marriage), while dogmatically asserting as true things which are either blatantly false or inherently unknowable. The May 19, 2014 decision by U. S. District Court Judge Michael J. McShane ( Geiger v. Kitzhaber ), striking down Oregon ’s constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman, was yet another example. I will not bother going through his decision point by point to refute it, since it varies little from the similar decisions handed down by other judges in recent months. Those interested in why these judges have it wrong should refer to the recent  FRC paper ,  Marriage on Trial: State Laws Defining Marriage as the Union of One Man and One Woman Ar...

Rochester radio hosts fired after suggesting transsexuals are mentally ill

Image
ROCHESTER, NY ,  – Two Rochester-area radio hosts have been fired after a twelve-minute segment in which they criticized the city for agreeing to fund sex-change procedures for its employees and dependents, and implied that would-be-transsexuals are mentally ill. Radio hosts Kimberly and Beck of “The Morning Buzz” talk show were fired early Thursday for comments they made during their Wednesday morning show.  During the course of a segment covering city health coverage for self-identified “ transgender ” people, the duo slammed the city’s decision as a waste of taxpayer dollars and asked why costly elective sex-change surgeries and treatments should be paid for by the city, but not breast enhancement surgery or Botox for women who are similarly unhappy with the way they look. Kimberly and Beck Kimberly, however, approved of the provision granting psychological counseling to so-called “transgender” individuals, saying that anyone wanting elective surgery to pass th...

Chaos, controversy erupt in Arkansas after judge rules same-sex “marriage” ban unconstitutional

Image
LITTLE ROCK, AR ,  – County clerks in Arkansas are refusing to issue marriage licenses and the state attorney general has vowed to appeal after a Pulaski County judge ruled the state’s 17-year-old ban on same-sex “marriage” unconstitutional. In a 13-page ruling, Judge Christopher Piazza  said  Arkansas’ constitutional amendment defining marriage as a union between one man and one woman violated the equal protection clause of the Constitution. “The difference between opposite-sex and same-sex families is within the privacy of their homes,” wrote Piazza. While Piazza said he was “not unmindful of the criticism that judges should not be super legislators,” he argued that the issue was sufficiently important to overturn the will of the majority in the defense of the homosexual minority, and compared their plight to that of blacks affected by institutional racism during the last century. “The issue at hand is the fundamental right to marry being denied to an un...

Conference unveils strategies to use students to promote gay agenda in public schools

Image
BOSTON, MA ,  – A pro-marriage group is reporting that Gay, Straight & Lesbian Education Network (GSLEN) Massachusetts has revealed a behind-the-scenes look at the homosexual agenda 's strategy about how to further promote its agenda in the state's public schools. An April 5 GSLEN conference highlighted that one of the keys to affecting young people is having students participate in pro-gay activism, such as taking part in a local " Day of Silence " or campus LGBT groups. Conversely, these same encouraging students are encouraged to target and intimidate those who disagree with homosexual relationships . "The students are seen as the  vanguard  within the schools," MassResistance reports . One seminar was entitled "Starting a Middle School GSA [Gay Students Association]: A Sustainable, Grassroots Approach" consisted of "practical advice and encouragement for students, staff, parents and community members who would like to ...
