Regnerus Study of the Children of homosexual parents contradicts Simon Crouch's research

Image
An Australian first and world leading study, into the overall health and wellbeing of children of same-sex attracted parents is being led by the University of Melbourne . The study will investigate the physical, mental and social wellbeing of children with same-sex attracted parents, and in particular the role that stigma and discrimination play in their health and wellbeing.  The error in this study is that it does not compare research against heterosexual marriages with children. University of Melbourne researcher Dr Simon Crouch, from the Jack Brockhoff Child Health and Wellbeing Program, The McCaughey Centre, Melbourne School of Population Health said international research suggested these children are generally doing well, but there are no comprehensive Australian studies and some areas need further attention. Researchers aim to recruit 500 families representing around 750 children. This will be a unverified self reporting research. The Australian Study of Child Health i

Homosexual parenting has problems

Gay Couple with child (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) TESTIMONY : Putting aside all the historical analogies to civil rights and the sentimental platitudes about love, the fact is that same-sex parenting suffers from insurmountable logistical problems for which children pay the steepest lifelong price. Whether it’s by surrogacy , insemination, divorce, or commercialized adoption, moral hazards abound for same-sex couples who insist on replicating a heterosexual model of parenthood. The children thrown into the middle of these moral hazards are well aware of their parents’ role in creating a stressful and emotionally complicated life for kids, which alienates them from cultural traditions like Father's Day and Mother's Day, and places them in the unenviable position of being called “homophobes” if they simply suffer the natural stress that their parents foisted on them—and admit to it. Same-sex marriage would pose no problems for me if it were simply about couples being

Not all children raised by gay parents support gay marriage: I should know, I’m one of them

June 3, 2013 ( thePublicDiscourse ) - During the oral arguments about Proposition 8 , Justice Anthony Kennedy referred to children being raised by same-sex couples. Since I was one of those children—from ages 2-19, I was  raised by a lesbian mother with the help of her partner —I was curious to see what he would say. I also eagerly anticipated what he would say because I had taken great professional and social risk to file an amicus brief with Doug Mainwaring ( who is gay and opposes gay marriage ), in which we explained that children deeply feel the loss of a father or mother, no matter how much we love our gay parents or how much they love us. Children feel the loss keenly because they are powerless to stop the decision to deprive them of a father or mother, and the absence of a male or female parent will likely be irreversible for them. Over the last year I’ve been in frequent contact with adults who were raised by parents in same-sex partnerships. They are terrified of spea

American Academy of Pediatricians formally supports immoral homosexual ‘marriage’

Image
March 22, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has come out with a policy statement throwing their full support behind homosexual ‘marriage,’ including full adoption and foster care rights. At the same time, another U.S.-based organization of pediatricians has responded with its own statement affirming that a marriage between a man and a woman is the best place for children. In its statement the AAP says that supporting gay "marriage" is “the best way to guarantee benefits and security for their children.” “Children thrive in families that are stable and that provide permanent security, and the way we do that is through marriage,” said Benjamin Siegel , MD, FAAP, chair of the AAP Committee on Psychosocial Aspects of Child and Family Health, and a co-author of the policy statement.  “The AAP believes there should be equal opportunity for every couple to access the economic stability and federal supports provided to married couples

Mark Regnerus and the outconme of gay parenting study

November 19, 2012 ( ThePublicDiscourse ) - Seldom has the publication of a dry, factual report in sociology caused such a storm of controversy. In June 2012, the bimonthly peer-reviewed journal Social Science Research published an article by University of Texas sociologist Mark Regnerus titled, “How different are the children of parents who have same-sex relationships? Findings from the New Family Structures Study.”  The answer to his title’s question was: quite a bit different, and most of the differences are not good. Within minutes, it seemed, Professor Regnerus, a gifted and highly productive scholar with two previous books published on related subjects, was denounced as “anti-gay,” attacked personally and professionally, and his thoughtful, measured research conclusions were buried under an avalanche of invective, abuse, and misunderstanding. For the remainder of the summer months, Regnerus withstood an onslaught of criticism, but as the autumn arrived, it became cl

Gay Couple with child (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) If you want to know how University of Texas sociologist Mark Regnerus's summer has gone, look no further than The Weekly Standard . On the cover of the conservative magazine's July 30 issue are two hooded henchmen impishly turning the gears on a medieval torture wheel holding Regnerus, sweating beads as he tries to stay in one piece. The cover copy—"Revenge of the Sociologists : The perils of politically incorrect academic research"—hints at the situation sparked by the publication of Regnerus's newest research as well as the broader political discourse over same-sex marriage. The survey, known as the New Family Structures Study (NFSS), is remarkable in its scope. It's a random national sample, considered "the gold standard" of social science surveys. NFSS measures the economic, relational, political, and psychological effects on adults ages 18 to 39 who grew up in families where the father or mot
