Sydney Morning Herald got it wrong on Pope's Homosexual comments

Image
The Sydney Morning Herald (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Mark Kenny from the Sydney Morning Herald incorrectly summarizes the Pope on homosexuality....as a relaxed attitude.  "When Tony Abbott was asked about Pope Francis' relaxed attitude to homosexuals, his response probably surprised breakfast television viewers. ''My sister, as you know, Christine is gay. I want her to be treated as every other Australian is treated and that's the Australian standard - we don't discriminate,'' he said." In fact, the Pope and the Churches position has not changed at all. Namely, homosexual acts are sinful. Homosexual activists are dangerous.  But a person committed to Christ , wants to serve God, loves God, may suffer temptation but chooses not to act on sinful sexual desires.  Is that a relaxed attitude towards homosexuals? At least TIME magazine got it right. The Pope hasn't changed at all. Read more:  http://www.smh.com.au/federal...

Pro-homosexual marriage advocates pick and choose laws they support!

Image
English: Anthony Kennedy, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Ever since the US Supreme Court invalidated the federal definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman, we've expected lawsuits would be filed in federal court challenging state laws that also define marriage in the traditional way. Our expectations have certainly been met; over a dozen such lawsuits have now been filed. What saddens me most about these lawsuits is that some of our elected officials entrusted with defending the laws of the land have chosen to abandon their oaths of office and state law on marriage. In fact, the Attorneys General of both Illinois and Pennsylvania have declared that they will not defend marriage in federal court. They are following the disgraceful path of Attorney General Eric Holder , who refused to defend our federal definition of marriage, and Jerry Brown in California, whose refusal to defend Proposition 8 led...

Desmond Tutu and a homophobic heaven?

Image
Desmond Tutu 2007 at the Deutscher Evangelischer Kirchentag in Cologne 2007 (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) By the world's standards, Desmond Tutu , the retired archbishop of South Africa , is an intelligent and influential man. A social rights activist who became known worldwide in the 1980s as a staunch opponent of apartheid, Tutu has been a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize , the Albert Schweitzer Prize for Humanitarianism , the Pacem in Terris Award , the Sydney Peace Prize , the Gandhi Peace Prize and the Presidential Medal for Freedom.1  Yet, in the eyes of the Lord God, Desmond Tutu is a fool ( Rom 1:22 ). He has ignored scripture completely, and affronted the holiness of God and the righteous of Christ. There can be no other conclusion based on his odd comments. Confused Pope confuses people over the gospel and homosexuality

Image
The Pope just returned from his visit to Brazil , and three different stories from the trip dominated the religious news last week. First, he declared that retweeting his updates about World Youth Day would help merit an indulgence. Then he led Mass for 3 million people in Brazil, and finally he declared that it is “not my role to judge gay priests.” That’s quite a news cycle, but hardly news. If you are not familiar with the differences between Catholicism and the gospel, here is a one paragraph theology lesson followed by a one paragraph history lesson: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that people can be saved from hell through a combination of faith and works (works energized by faith, if you will). Of course, salvation from hell is only part of the story, because according to the RCC, at death your soul goes to purgatory where the remaining sin is purged through suffering and torment. The difference between purgatory and hell is one of duration, and clearly the doctrine...

ABC Australian Broadcasting Corporation misquotes Pope's Homosexual comments

The  Pope ’s remarks on the ‘gay lobby’ in response to a question on his return flight from Rio to Rome have sparked misleading coverage all over the world.  From a look at the headlines of the major mainstream news sources in America and from the television and radio coverage comes a very confusing take on what the Pope actually said. Former Clinton strategist compares opposition to gay ‘marriage’ to views of Iranian Ayatollah

Image
July 29, 2013 ( Breakpoint ) - A few years ago, Lanny Davis , former strategist for Bill Clinton, called on members of Congress to sign a civility pledge. “I will be civil in my public discourse and behavior,” the pledge read. “I will be respectful of others whether or not I agree with them. I will stand against incivility when I see it.” Well, I have to wonder whether Davis signed the pledge himself, because just a few days ago he wrote some deeply uncivil things in his column, titled “Purple Nation,” about people who don't share his opinion about same-sex “marriage.” Davis was responding to a letter by N. Michael Nunn , a member of the Sinai Temple in Los Angeles. Nunn wrote that for the Temple to officiate over unions of homosexual couples and call such relationships “sanctified” “is unacceptable to a sound mind.” “ Homosexuality ,” Nunn added, “is explicitly condemned in Scripture.” It “has been categorically and passionately rejected by all classical Jewish legal and e...

Cardinal George pressured not to pull funding for immigrant group promoting gay ‘marriage’

Image
CHICAGO, July 29, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews ) – The Archbishop of Chicago is under fire from local political leaders after threatening deny funding to several members of the  Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights  (ICIRR), which recently came out in support of same-sex “marriage.” In a May 23  statement , ICIRR had written, “As an organization dedicated to the full inclusion of all Americans, whether foreign-born or native-born … ICIRR supports marriage equality.” Cardinal Francis George The Chicago diocese’s Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) has been contributing between $25,000 and $30,000 each year to several of ICIRR’s member groups to aid humanitarian efforts in poverty-stricken neighborhoods. But since CCHD funding agreements are contingent on recipients not supporting agendas contrary to the Catholic faith, Archbishop Francis Cardinal George recently notified member groups that CCHD will be unable to provide any more funding unless ...

Stop arresting street preachers who speak on homosexuality, says Christian rights group to head of London police

Image
LONDON , July 28, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - Exasperated with the  numerous arrests of Christian street preachers  for speaking against homosexuality, a UK advocacy group has written to the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis (of London) demanding that guidance be issued to beat officers to put a stop to the problem.  The last straw was  the arrest  earlier this month of visiting US street preacher Tony Miano for preaching that homosexual conduct is a sin.  “As you might be aware, this is the position adopted by all the major churches in the United Kingdom,” said Andrea Minichiello Williams, the head of the Christian Legal Centre (CLC),  in the letter  to Sir Bernard Hogan Howe of New Scotland Yard . "I hope we can agree that preaching the Gospel on sexual ethics (absent extenuating circumstances) is a lawful activity." Visiting U.S. street preacher Tony Miano was arrested after preaching that homosexual conduct is sinful. Wi...
