Immoral Obama phones immoral homosexual leaders: ‘We’re proud of you guys’
WASHINGTON, D.C., June 26, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – En route to a $100 million trip to Africa, President Obama picked up the phone on Air Force One to tell the same-sex couple that sued to redefine marriage in the state of California, “We're proud of you guys.”
Kris Perry and Sandy Stier, the lesbian couple that challenged California's Proposition 8 defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman, received an unexpected call while being interviewed on MSNBC.
Human Rights Campaign President Chris Griffin brought over a cell phone that connected him with President Obama.
“We're proud of you guys,” the president said in a scratchy phone call broadcast over the left-leaning network. “And we're so glad for California.”
Obama praised the “leadership” the couple showed during the proceedings surrounding Hollingsworth v. Perry case, adding that he was “very proud for your courage.”
You're helping out a whole lot of people everywhere,” he said
“You guys should be so proud for today,” Obama added. “You should have a great celebration.”
Jeff Zarrillo, another of the plaintiffs in the case, told the president, “You're invited to the wedding.”
“OK,” the president responded.
“Obviously, you had the support of the White House the whole way along,” the anchor said.
California voters passed Proposition 8, a constitutional amendment protecting traditional marriage, by a margin of 52 percent in 2008, in the same election that swept him into the Oval Office. The president's Justice Department filed an amicus curiae brief with the Supreme Court seeking that the law be overturned.
The Court should give homosexuals the “social recognition conferred by the institution of marriage,”the administration argued.
Instead, by a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court threw out a complaint from citizens of the state, whom they said had no standing to challenge the ruling. It was a procedural ruling that did not touch the underlying issue of marriage itself.
