Boswell twists texts on Homosexuality in Deuteronomy and Kings

Image
Bible de Gutenberg Deuteronomy 6:16-7:16 (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Prohomosexual interpreters take issue with other places where the translation “sodomy” has traditionally occurred. Boswell and others disapprove of the translation “sodomite” used twice in the KJV ( Deut. 23:17 and 1 Kings 14:24). The Hebrew words refer to temple prostitutes in Deuteronomy, both female (qĕdēšāh) and male (qādēš).  Boswell argues that “sodomite” should not be the translation for the second term (qādēš) because there is “no reason to assume that such prostitutes serviced persons of their own sex,” whether based on the term itself or on history, where evidence is so little that inferences are “moot.”48 The passage of Deuteronomy 23:17–18 reads (NIV): (17) No Israelite man or woman is to become a shrine prostitute . (18) You must not bring the earnings of a female prostitute or of a male prostitute [Heb. lit.: “the hire of a female prostitute or the price of a dog”] into the house of the LORD

Matthew Vines on Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 and Christians not being under the Law

The Aleppo Codex is a medieval manuscript of the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh), associated with Rabbi Aaron Ben Asher. The Masoretic scholars wrote it in the early 10th century, probably in Tiberias, Israel. It is in book form and contains the vowel points and grammar points (nikkudot) that specify the pronunciation of the ancient Hebrew letters to preserve the chanting tradition. It is perhaps the most historically important Hebrew manuscript in existence. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination." (Lev. 18:22, NASB ). "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them." (Lev. 20:13, NASB). Mr. Vines says, "Hebrews 8:13 states that the old covenant is now “obsolete,” because Christ is the basis of the new covenant . . .  it is true that Leviticus prohibits male

Leviticus18:22, 20:13, homosexuality, shellfish, mixed fabrics, and not being under Old Testament Law

The Scapegoat by William Holman Hunt (1827-1910) (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Leviticus says not to eat shellfish (Lev. 11:9-12), use mixed seed or fabrics (Lev. 19:19), harvest the corners of fields (Lev. 19:9), and that homosexuality is wrong (Lev. 18:22; 20:13).  If homosexuality is wrong because Leviticus says so, then shouldn't we also obey the other laws about shellfish, seed, fabrics, and fields because that is in Leviticus as well?  If not, then why not?  Why would Christians pick and choose what parts of the Bible to follow? First of all, not all of Leviticus is written to everyone.  There were abominations that applied only to the Jews such as eating shellfish, rabbit, and pork, etc., which were things that typologically represented purity before the Lord.  We know this because God says, "Speak to the sons of Israel saying..."  He gives instructions to the Israelites , not to the rest of the nations. Here is a list of instances when the occurrence of t
