Christian politician regrets saying gay sex is not a sin

Image
A former leading British politician voiced his “regret” last week at having said in 2017 that homosexual sex was not sinful, betraying his Christian beliefs . Tim Farron , an evangelical Christian , resigned as the leader of the Liberal Democrat Party in 2017 after months of journalists and politicians demanding to know his beliefs about homosexual sex. Farron finally responded to a question in Parliament as to whether or not he thought homosexuality was a sin with “I do not.” In April 2017, he told the British Broadcasting Commission ( BBC ), “I don’t believe gay sex is a sin.” But he did - he simply folded. Farron told interviewers at  Premier Christian Radio  that he had found himself in a situation in which “I either had to be compromising my faith, frankly, saying things I thought were not true, or be true to my faith and be in a situation where I sucked all the attention that ought to be going to me being the mouthpiece of the party, away from our main message.”

Back in the early 1990s, when I was an out and proud gay man , I saw this same thing happen with DADT [Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy] in the military. It became a political rallying-cry in which the gay community could lock-step behind; even though this policy affected relatively very few gay men or women. Now, the concept of gay marriage has been successfully fused with that of

Pro-life Democrat supports Constitutional amendment protecting marriage

A constitutional amendment to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman has attracted bipartisan support from a pro-life Democrat in the House of Representatives . Congressman Nick Rahall , D- WV , has joined as a co-sponsor of Tim Huelskamp 's motion to protect marriage. Rep. Nick Rahall, D-WV Rahall, who has a 92 percent lifetime  voting record from National Right to Life , is the only Democrat to support the legislation to date. Brian Brown of the National Organization for Marriage said the West Virginia Congressman is the first “hopefully of many” Democratic representatives to support traditional marriage. “Rep. Rahall's support proves once again that marriage is an issue that cuts past partisan politics and special interests, speaking universally to our shared common sense principles, such as every child's right to have both a mom and a dad,” Brown said. Approximately  one-third of Democrats  do not believe in same-sex “marriage,” accor

Mitt Romney: I still believe in traditional marriage

WASHINGTON, D.C. , March 5, 2013, ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – Although his critics mercilessly criticized him for changing his positions on a number of political issues, Mitt Romney says that he has not changed his mind on the definition of marriage. The 2012 Republican presidential candidate's fortitude on the issue comes as Beltway insiders in his party are pressing the grassroots to stifle its longstanding commitment to defend marriage. In his first post-election interview on  Fox News Sunday , Chris Wallace asked the former Massachusetts governor about the 80 Republicans – many of whom never held elective office – who signed an  amicus curiae  brief asking the Supreme Court to overturn restrictions on same-sex “marriage.” When asked if his views had “evolved at all” on redefining marriage, Mitt Romney replied, “No.” “I believe that marriage is a relationship between a man and a woman, and that's because I believe the ideal setting for raising a child is where

Why does Obama support Homosexual Marriage?

Barack Obama delivers a speech at the University of Southern California (Video of the speech) (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) The fallout from Pres. Obama 's flip-flop on marriage continues. Sixty-two percent of Americans say, in a new Fox News poll, that it was just a political decision on Obama's part (including a plurality of Democrats , 46 percent to 38 percent). If so, it was a very bad one. As NOM's political consultant Frank Schubert told California's influential insider  Flash Report : "After months of very carefully managing expectations about his 'evolving' position on gay marriage , President Obama suddenly found himself last week careening between powerful forces like the steel ball in Elton John's 'pinball wizard.' His own Vice President threw him into the pinball machine, and then his Education Secretary thrust the plunger, launching him into game." "...The left is jumping for joy at their accomplishment,

His call for the legalization of same-sex marriage yesterday is an historic and tragic milestone. An incumbent President of the United States has now called for a transformation of civilization’s central institution. And yet, no observer of this President could be surprised. The arrival of this announcement was only a matter of time. The White House confirmed this within hours of the President’s announcement. As The New York Times reported on May 10, “Advisers say now that Mr. Obama had intended since early this year to define his position sometime before Democrats nominate him for re-election in September.” Previous news reports indicated that the 2012 p
