Expecting Catholic school employees to abide by long-standing Catholic morals will be added to the legal understanding of “discrimination,” if a case currently before the Alberta Human Rights Commission succeeds against Calgary Catholic School District. At issue is the district’s language in teacher contracts that holds them to “Catholic values,” particularly a “lifestyle and deportment in harmony with Catholic teaching and principles.” The Calgary Herald reports that Barb Hamilton, a former principal in the district, is one of two people suing over the requirement; another teacher has chosen to remain anonymous. Hamilton has filed her human-rights complaints on “marital status, religious beliefs, and sexual orientation” grounds, Catholic News Agency reports . “Their perspective is I resigned and my perspective is I wasn’t given a choice,” she claims. “Relationships that would be acceptable are those recognized by the Catholic Church, that have to be acknowledged by a Catholic priest

Attached to that tweet was an audio recording on an introduction Kenney had made of another politician whom he praised as someone "who fought with me to end taxpayer-funded abortions" and to "prevent gay adoption." An anonymous car shopper in Alberta known only as “David” isn’t transgendered, but pretending to be helped him save a lot of money on his car insurance. Earlier this month CBC News spoke with David , who explained how he came up with the idea while shopping for a new Chevrolet Cruze. His insurance company told him it would come with a premium of about $4,500 per year due to previous tickets and a collision. If he was a woman, he learned, that cost would only be $3,400. "I was pretty angry about that. And I didn't feel like getting screwed over any more," said David, who was 23 at the time. "So I asked them to change my gender on my auto policy, and she's like, we can't do that." Alberta United Conservative Party (UCP) leader Jason Kenney says he’ll be going to the pancake breakfast his party is holding to coincide with Edmonton’s Pride Parade on Saturday. The UCP planned the event after Edmonton Pride Festival officials turned down its application last month to march in the Pride parade. “We will be hosting a breakfast that morning for members of the United Conservative Party who want to celebrate Pride,” Kenney told reporters at the Alberta legislature Monday, according to the CBC . “I look forward to being there along with some of our MLAs. So we’ll be doing our best to support the broader community while respecting the decision of the organizers.” Kenney says he won’t be a spectator at the parade, the CBC reported. “My mom told me not to show up at a party I’m not invited to,” he said. Today the Rev the Hon Fred Nile , for the Christian Democrat Party, introduced a Bill to add “ religious beliefs or religious activities” into NSW legislation as a prohibited ground of discrimination. The proposed  Anti-Discrimination Amendment (Religious Freedoms) Bill  2018 will add new Parts 3B and 5A into the  Anti-Discrimination Act  1977 (NSW) (“ADA”), making it unlawful in various areas to discriminate on the grounds of religion, or to subject religious bodies to a detriment. The proposals will also make it unlawful to penalise someone for holding views on marriage as the union of a man or a woman, or for holding the view that there are only two genders. The CDP is a minority Party in the NSW Parliament, and the Bill is a Private Member’s Bill , so it is not clear whether it will be fully debated, let alone enacted. Have you heard what Alberta's Premier Rachel Notley said about family life and parenting recently? That it's "super-cruel" to inform parents that their child is a member of a gay/straight alliance in school. She has also stated in a desperate attempt to win a re-election that the new United Conservatives, led by Jason Kenney, will be harmful to gay children. She's playing gender politics and using children as pawns. It's also an open attack on Christians and anyone who disagrees with identity politics and the early (abuse) sexualization of children. The Alberta NDP government made good its promise and introduced a bill November 2 that forbids schools telling parents their child has joined a “gay-straight alliance” without the child’s consent, regardless of the child’s age. Bill 24, or  An Act to Support Gay-straight Alliances , also nixes a previous exemption for private schools, which will now have to allow gay-straight alliances (GSAs) if a student requests one, although the bill has a mechanism for “exemptions.” Education Minister David Eggen issued a  ministerial order in March  to two private Christian schools demanding they establish a GSA if a student requests one. Under Bill 24, parental notification requirements and opt-out for courses with sexual or religious content will not be in force when it comes to participation in GSAs. A legal group is speaking out after learning that a school facilitated an 11-year-old girl’s “gender transition” behind her family’s back, and only informed them when she had become suicidal. The girl told her teachers at age 11 she wanted to be a boy but didn’t want her parents to know. She became suicidal after a year of living a double life as a boy at school and a girl at home. Only when she told her guidance counsellor she was depressed and wanted to kill herself did the school inform her parents, says lawyer John Carpay, director of the Calgary-based Justice Center for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF). The parents knew their daughter, who is moderately autistic, was struggling, but had no idea the school was facilitating her “transition” to a “boy,” Carpay said. A Christian political action group and a parents group are responding to the controversy over a pro-life group comparing the Holocaust to abortion by accusing the New Democratic government of promoting unscientific and dangerous gender ideology. When Education Minister David Eggen leaked to the press his objections to the comparison made in a Red Deer Catholic high school by the local pro-life group, sex-education advocate Cristina Stasia called for an investigation of what “third party” groups are teaching students about sex and abortion. The Calgary Sexual Health Centre and the Compass Centre for Sexual Wellness joined her in calling for an investigation into third party content, but they were referring to social conservative groups. Now social conservative groups are echoing their call for an investigation.
