Biden unveils ominous ‘LGTBQ+ equality’ plan to compel institutions to ‘enforce…advance’ gay ‘rights’

Image
Former Vice President and current Democrat presidential frontrunner Joe Biden released his official “LGBTQ+ equality” plan this week, a comprehensive document laying out how he would elevate homosexual and transgender “acceptance” above religious liberty and conscience rights if elected to the White House. “As President, Biden will stand with the LGBTQ+ community to ensure America finally lives up to the promise on which it was founded: equality for all,” the plan declares. “He will provide the moral leadership to champion equal rights for all LGBTQ+ people, fight to ensure our laws and institutions protect and enforce their rights, and advance LGBTQ+ equality globally.” First, the plan lists as a “top priority” enacting the so-called  Equality Act , which would amend the 1964 Civil Rights Act to include “sex,” “sexual orientation,” and “gender identity” among expressly recognized “non-discrimination” categories in “public accommodations” (the definition of which would be dram

Trump admin responds to Taylor Swift’s Equality Act petition: bill is ‘filled with poison pills’

Image
The Trump administration reiterated its opposition to the so-called “Equality Act” Tuesday, responding to a challenge by pop star Taylor Swift in support of the wide-reaching LGBT measure. Swift used her Monday performance at the annual MTV Video Music Awards to promote her Change.org petition supporting the pro-homosexual Equality Act, which she claimed: “basically just says we all deserve equal rights under the law.” She added that its more-than 500,000 signatures “is five times the amount that it would need to warrant a response from the White House.” Fox News notes that the administration is only obligated to address petitions if they gather 100,000 signatures within a 30-day window, but the White House chose to answer questions on the matter anyway. "The Trump Administration absolutely opposes discrimination of any kind and supports the equal treatment of all; however, the House-passed bill in its current form is filled with poison pills that threaten to undermine p

Kentucky Supreme Court to hear case on Christian’s refusal to make LGBT pride shirts

Image
The Christian owner of a Kentucky print shop who has spent years fighting for his right not to create “gay pride” T-shirts has taken his case to the state Supreme Court. Blaine Adamson is the owner of Hands On Originals Christian Outfitters, a Lexington company that advertises "high quality, customized Christian apparel.” For the past several years, he has been fighting the Lexington Human Rights Commission over his polite refusal of the Gay and Lesbian Services Organization’s (now called the Pride Community Services Organization) request to print shirts for the Lexington Pride Festival. The Kentucky Court of Appeals sided with Adamson in 2017, and the Kentucky Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the case Friday, NBC News reported. “For the last seven years, the government has tried to punish me for declining to print a message that violated my conscience,” Adamson told the public outside the court chamber. “So far, the lower courts have upheld my freedom as a creative

Homosexual Marriage vs Religious Liberty

Image
We see religious liberty denied when a cake baker in Colorado experiences sustained efforts to put him out of business, or worse, accompanied nationwide by florists and photographers and a host of others. We see the Fire Chief of Atlanta, Georgia removed because he dared to teach a biblical pattern of human sexuality, and then dared to put his convictions into print—primarily for his own church. We see Christian schools and ministries confront unprecedented challenges across several fronts and we see a continual effort to coerce Christians to surrender to the new regime of sexual rules, gender identity, intersectionality, and identity politics. The enemies of religious liberty are playing hardball, and we were warned. Chai Feldblum, a lesbian, formerly of Georgetown University Law Center and later appointed by President Barack Obama to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, over a decade ago admitted in a public statement that religious liberty would have to give way to the

Google, Amazon try to stop Texas from passing religious freedom protections

Image
A coalition of business interests is descending on Texas lawmakers to pressure them to abandon several pieces of pending legislation that would protect various professionals in the state from being forced to engage in practices that violate their consciences on issues such as abortion and sexuality. The Texas Legislature is currently considering a handful of religious-freedom bills, the Austin American-Statesman reports. They would bar state licensing agencies from limiting professionals’ ability to act on a “sincerely held religious belief,” let medical professionals refuse to provide non-emergency treatments such as abortions, let Texans choose not to provide goods, services, or participation to same-sex “weddings,” let judges refuse to perform “marriages” that conflict with their religious beliefs, protect businesses’ right to segregate bathrooms based on biological sex, and allow religious groups including university organizations limit hiring, renting, or membership to indi

Over 100 ‘religious leaders’ come out against Tennessee bills to defend marriage, religious adoption, separate bathrooms

Image
L eft-wing activists in Tennessee are boasting that more than 100 liberal “religious leaders” have joined their campaign to defeat a series of bills meant to restore natural marriage and protect the religious and privacy rights of adoption agencies, businesses, and schools from pro-LGBT encroachment. Six bills are currently before the state legislature covering a broad range of controversies related to homosexuality and transgenderism, the Nashville Tennessean reported. Taken together, they would allow religious adoption and foster agencies to refuse to place children in same-sex households; forbid local governments from taking “discriminatory action against a business entity” to punish its health insurance, family leave, minimum wage, or anti-discrimination policies; increase punishment for indecent exposure in bathrooms and dressing rooms; direct the state attorney general to defend schools from lawsuits over their refusal to admit gender-confused boys into girls’ restrooms

LGBT activists want to force Catholic schools in Canada to hire teachers in same-sex ‘marriage’

Image
Expecting Catholic school employees to abide by long-standing Catholic morals will be added to the legal understanding of “discrimination,” if a case currently before the Alberta Human Rights Commission succeeds against Calgary Catholic School District. At issue is the district’s language in teacher contracts that holds them to “Catholic values,” particularly a “lifestyle and deportment in harmony with Catholic teaching and principles.” The Calgary Herald reports that Barb Hamilton, a former principal in the district, is one of two people suing over the requirement; another teacher has chosen to remain anonymous. Hamilton has filed her human-rights complaints on “marital status, religious beliefs, and sexual orientation” grounds, Catholic News Agency reports . “Their perspective is I resigned and my perspective is I wasn’t given a choice,” she claims. “Relationships that would be acceptable are those recognized by the Catholic Church, that have to be acknowledged by a Catholic priest

Christian baker sues Colorado officials for pressuring him to make LGBT cake

Image
The Christian baker in Colorado who won a high-profile religious liberty case earlier this year is back in court, this time going on offense against the state officials he says are continuing to persecute him for refusing to create pro-LGBT products. This summer, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 7-2 that Colorado officials had discriminated against the Masterpiece Cakeshop owner’s religious beliefs while trying to force him to bake a cake for a same-sex “wedding.” But on June 26, Autumn Scardina filed a complaint against Phillips for declining to bake a cake that would be pink on the inside and blue on the outside, to celebrate his “transition” from male to female. Two days later, Colorado Civil Rights Division (CCRD) director Aubrey Elenis wrote a letter concluding there was probable cause to conclude Phillips had unlawfully denied Scardina “equal enjoyment of a place of public accommodation.” It ordered the two to enter compulsory mediation to reach an amicable resolution. Evangelical groups back ‘sinful compromise’ on homosexual discrimination, religious liberty

Image
Two prominent evangelical organizations have formally endorsed federal legislation that would ostensibly protect homosexual Americans from discrimination without infringing on religious exercise, but social conservative leaders warn that the stated principles could still be exploited by pro-LGBT activists. The boards of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) and National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) have passed motions endorsing the addition of sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) language to federal nondiscrimination law, WORLD reported . In October, the NAE Executive Council unanimously passed a motion that affirms “God created human beings in his image as male or female and that sexual relations be reserved for the marriage of one man and one woman” and endorses “First Amendment guarantees that protect free religious exercise,” while at the same time declaring, “No one should face violence, harassment, or unjust discrimination on the basis of

Virginia school board fires teacher who refused to call female student ‘he’ or ‘him’

Image
A school board in the Virginia town of West Point has unanimously voted to fire a high school French teacher who respectfully refused to refer to a female gender-confused student as male, despite the vocal support of other students. This school year, one of Peter Vlaming’s students at West Point High School came back having “transitioned” to living as a boy over the summer, and wanted to be recognized as such. Vlaming agreed to use the masculine name she had chosen and attempted to avoid referring to her with female pronouns, but said his Christian faith prevented him from calling a girl “he” or “him.” Nevertheless, the girl says the compromise made her feel “singled out,” and her family complained to the administration, which  placed him on administrative leave . At Vlaming’s request, the West Point School Board held a four-hour hearing Thursday evening to consider the matter. Before an overflow crowd containing many students and parents who supported the embattled teacher

LGBT movement now claims to represent ‘family values’, labeling Christians ‘dangerous’

Image
Once upon a time, when the Sexual Revolution was in its infancy, social conservatives were mocked for their “family values” and the inherent stodginess that increasingly political phrase seemed to imply. The boring squares with their white picket fences and marriages and (often) string of children represented everything the sexual revolutionaries wanted to escape, and everything they wanted to liberate society from. Sexual liberation offered people an opportunity to engage in “free love” without being tied down, and as the Sixties turned into the Seventies, America emerged as an utterly transformed nation. Things have changed since then. We’ve moved far past the implosion of a traditional marriage, the rise of hookup culture, and the Playboy milieu ushered in by the late Hugh Hefner. Not only was gay “marriage” imposed on all fifty states by the US Supreme Court in 2015, but the transgender movement subsequently took the country by storm, with the elitist trifecta of progressive pol

Gay journalist: LGBT media outlets use ‘fake news’ to advance movement

Image
Pro-LGBT media outlets and activists groups have been “emotionally manipulating and even entirely misleading LGBT people” with misleading or even entirely false reports of persecution by a "homophobic" government and culture, according to a recent column by Federalist contributor Chad Felix Greene. Greene, a self-described “conservative” who is himse, f homosexual, used his September 14 piece to highlight six stories that garnered significant traction in LGBT circles, but misrepresented their subject matter with unsupported claims, omitted details, and misplaced emphasis. His first example was legislation introduced in July by Rep. Jeff Duncan, R-SC, to forbid U.S. embassies from flying any flag other than the American flag, which outlets such as the Washington Blade characterized as specifically targeting rainbow “pride” banners. But as LifeSiteNews covered at the time , while some embassies promoting LGBT “pride” has been a source of controversy, the bill did not targe

Censorship: California Senate passes bill banning books, therapy to help unwanted gay attraction

Image
The California Senate voted Thursday to approve the nation’s broadest proposed ban on treatment for overcoming unwanted same-sex attractions. The vote on Assembly Bill 2943 was 25-11, the  Washington Blade  reports . The bill forbids minors and adults alike from obtaining “sexual orientation change efforts,” regardless of their wishes. By classifying what leftists pejoratively call “conversion therapy” (also known as reparative therapy) under prohibited “goods,” critics say it would go so far as to ban the sale of books endorsing the practice, as well as other forms of constitutionally-protected speech. The Assembly  voted  50-14 to pass AB 2943 in April, but its Senate vote was delayed until after the summer recess following a deluge of phone calls from disapproving constituents and a fierce public backlash from churches and other religious groups. Bill sponsor and Democratic Assemblyman Evan Low reportedly considered amending it into a more palatable form, but  Courthouse N

Jack Phillips back in court as Colorado demands he bake ‘gender-transition’ cake

Image
Masterpiece Cakeshop owner Jack Phillips’  June 4 victory  at the U.S. Supreme Court failed to convince the state of Colorado to let him operate in accordance with his conscience, the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF)  announced  Wednesday. Earlier this summer, the nation’s highest court ruled 7-2 that Colorado officials had discriminated against his religious beliefs while trying to force him to bake a cake for a same-sex “wedding.” On June 26, the  Denver Post   reported  that Autumn Scardina filed a complaint against Phillips for declining to bake a cake that would be pink on the inside and blue on the outside, to celebrate his “transition” from male to female. NSW Australia Parliament halts free speech

Image
NSW Australia. The NSW parliament introduced unworkable new legislation will create a new offence in the Crimes Act of publicly threatening or inciting violence against people on the grounds of race, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, gender identity, sex characteristics or HIV/AIDS status, including a maximum penalty of three years imprisonment and a fine of $11,000. The LGBT lobby considers all negative comments as vilification. Does this mean, any form of communication, comments on blogs, public comments in Churches, public conversations or conduct observable by the public, as well as the distribution or dissemination of any matter, will become illegal if it vilifies those groups? The Gay lobby is happy to silence any and all objections to the unnatural, immoral and sinful lifestyle choices of homosexuals. They can threaten people, take them to court even if their applications fail they have achieved fear in those who object to the sin of homosexuality. LGBT are now see

UK House speaker: LGBT rights ‘has to trump’ religious liberty

Image
In the latest and clearest break from the pro-homosexual movement’s past assurances that “gay rights” wouldn’t endanger religious freedom, on Wednesday the speaker of the United Kingdom’s House of Commons explicitly declared that the former should override the latter. HOMOSEXUALITY IS NOT A HUMAN RIGHT John Bercow made the declaration at a July 4 PinkNews reception, PinkNews  reports . “Gay rights, lesbian rights, bi rights and trans rights are not gay rights, lesbian rights, bi rights or trans rights, they are human rights,” he declared, “and that seems to me to be the inescapable conclusion of any serious consideration of these matters.” Bercow went on to claim to “respect people’s rights to adhere to and profess their faith,” but asserted that when “somebody’s adherence to faith on the one hand and the acknowledgement of and demonstration of respect for human rights” come into conflict, “the latter has to trump the former.” “If there are people who take a different view,
