Protecting religious freedom after “Yes”

Image
Outrage has erupted in the press and in Parliament over the Exposure Draft of a Bill designed to implement a possible “Yes” vote in the same-sex marriage survey. Senator James Paterson, a Liberal Party member who personally supports same sex marriage, has released a Draft  Marriage Amendment (Definition and Protection of Freedoms) Bill  2017 designed to effect this change, but also to provide protection for the religious freedom of those whose faith will not allow them to approve it. But the Bill has been excoriated as “legalising homophobic discrimination” (Senator Hinch, in a question to the Attorney-General ,  Senate Hansard , 14 Nov 2017, p 21 of  draft proceedings ), and as a “licence to discriminate” (Senator Wong, as  reported  by the ABC .) I think these are outrageous over-statements, and misrepresent the nature of the Bill. I don’t agree with every line of the Paterson Bill, but I think it is a perfectly reasonable attempt to provide an appropriate balance of the r

LGBT threats against church, schools, colleges and Christians increase

Christians in America now face a moment of judgment at the hands of a secular culture that grows more intensely adversarial with each passing day. Churches, institutions, and individuals committed to the Christian church’s historic sexual ethic, held consistently over two millennia, now find themselves faced with a stark choice — join the sexual revolution or face the consequences. Those consequences include social marginalization, overt discrimination, the censure from the cultural elites, and worse. Christian colleges and schools are now openly threatened with the loss of tax-exempt status and participation in federal and state student aid. Christian employees in businesses large and small are told to get with the program or get lost. Getting with the program does not mean simply working amiably with all, regardless of sexual orientation. It means openly and enthusiastically celebrating every demand and aim of the LGBT community. Entire professions will soon be closed to many Chri

LGBT Puppeteer -Cultural Bully with their manufactured radicals

Image
They do not want to actually debate the merits of the issues so they declare anything they oppose to be "discrimination" and "anti-gay" and attempt to demonize all those who oppose their agenda. Governor Bryant in Mississippi is standing strong and now it's our turn to stand with him . Please express your thanks to this courageous defender of the rights of Christians and people of faith and let him know that you salute his leadership. Together we can fend off the cultural bullies, but we must act proactively to do so. We cannot be silent while the radicals wail mindlessly about this critical legislation. Australia: Andrews Labor government promotes sexual immorality to kids

Students as young as 12 will study sexualised personal ads and write their own advertisements seeking the “perfect partner’’ as part of a new school curriculum supposed to combat family violence. The classroom material includes an example ad from a “lustful, sexually generous’’ person seeking “sexy freak out with similarly intentioned woman’’. Another ad — to be analysed by Year 8 students aged 12 and 13 — is from a “30-year-old blonde bombshell, wild and sexy, living in the fast lane’’. “Can you keep up?’’ it asks. A third example cites a “hot gay gal 19yo’’ who is seeking an “outgoing fem 18-25 into nature, sport and night-life for friendship and relationship’’. Children are instructed to “write your own personal ad for the perfect partner’’. The Building Respectful Relationships material, which is meant to prevent family violence, is replacing religious education lessons during class time in Victorian state schools this year. The Andrews Labor government yesterday announced

If it wasn’t for double standards, some liberals would have none at all

Image
If it wasn’t for double standards, some liberals would have none at all. That seems to be the lesson from the past few weeks, where liberals have displayed three distinct forms of hypocrisy. Liberal governors and mayors signed travel bans to North Carolina and Mississippi , CEOs of major corporations pledged boycotts and relocations, and Bruce Springsteen and Bryan Adams have canceled scheduled concerts in those states. At issue are  a Mississippi  law that narrowly and carefully protects the rights of religious charities, small businesses, and select public servants and  a North Carolina  law that reasonably protects privacy and safety in public restrooms, while leaving private institutions free to set their own bathroom policies. These laws, apparently, are now unacceptable to some voices on the left. But are they really? The hypocrisy in their opposition suggests otherwise. 1.      Big Money and Big Business in Politics Are Bad, Unless They Support the Left ? Lib

UK Christian expelled over pro-marriage Facebook posts will appeal to courts

SHEFFIELD, United Kingdom , – A Christian father of four who has served as a teacher and care worker since coming to Great Britain as a refugee in 2003 has lost the appeal of his expulsion from the Sheffield University Masters of Social Work program for expressing his views on homosexuality . Francis Ngole, 39, would take the university to court with the help of the Christian Legal Centre , a pro-bono advocacy organization that defends Christian freedom of religion and freedom of expression. “I feel and my legal team feels that the decision reached was strongly discriminatory. But I’m clearly not fighting for myself. I am fighting for other Christians. Christianity is being driven underground.” Ngole’s offense was to participate in an online discussion last September about the jailing of Kentucky country clerk Kim Davis for refusing to sign same-sex “marriage” licences. Ngole quoted the passage from Leviticus 20:13 describing homosexual intercourse as an “abomination” and
