Transition Affirming Protocols is child abuse

Image
Pediatric “gender clinics” are considered elite centers for affirming children who are distressed by their biological sex. This distressful condition, once dubbed gender identity disorder, was renamed “gender dysphoria” in 2013. In 2014, there were  24 of these gender clinics , clustered chiefly along the east coast and in California . One year later, there were 40 across the nation. With  215 pediatric residency programs  now training future pediatricians in a transition-affirming protocol and treating gender-dysphoric children accordingly, gender clinics are bound to proliferate further. Last summer, the federal government stated that it would not require Medicare and Medicaid to cover transition-affirming procedures for children or adults because medical experts at the Department of Health and Human Services found the risks were often too high, and the benefits too unclear. Undeterred by these findings, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health has pressed ahea

LGBT fake-science reaches new low on gender roles

Image
With men now being allowed to dominate women’s athletic competitions (see our reports on the Hawaiian volleyball star and New Zealand weight lifter ); colleges and universities now instructing students that their gender can change from day-to-day ; and with the California legislature pondering a bill to “ make gender a personal choice ,” its safe to say the left’s attacks on such things as masculinity, femininity, and — heaven forbid — gender roles have gone full throttle into the Twilight Zone . Still, one would think certain truths should stay above the fray if for no other reason than they are matters of biological fact, as much as the left loves science (and decry all who don’t as “science deniers”). Truths like men have a Y chromosome and women do not. Men have about nine pints of blood in our bodies, women only about six. After childbirth women begin the process of lactation and can nurse/ breastfeed infants, men cannot. That’s what you may think, but, alas, you’d be wron

Sex education in the wrong hands

Image
One of the things closest to many is parents' ability to direct their own children's education—particularly on sensitive topics like sexuality. Unfortunately, a coalition of liberal sex education and gay-activism groups recently released some supposed "national sexuality education standards"—and they want your child's school to think those guidelines are the official standards for the nation. The so-called "standards" emphasize same-sex marriage, homosexual relationships and condom use, and suggest telling eighth-graders where they can get get the morning-after pill, among other topics. The list of contributors is a who's-who of liberal sex education advocates including Planned Parenthood ® . These folks are well known for their long history of promoting liberal sexuality in the classroom. Watch this week's  CitizenLink Report ,  in which my colleagues Carrie Gordon Earll and Chad Hills discuss the new guidelines.         In response,

Nike, Microsoft, Google support striking down Defense of Marriage Act

Image
A lawsuit that could nullify the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) has received the support of major U.S. corporations, who filed a brief opposing the law in federal court this week. A friend-of-the-court brief filed last Thursday in the case of Commonwealth of Massachusetts vs. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services argues that DOMA, which protects marriage as between a man and a woman in federal law, imposes crippling burdens on employers. Seventy employers are represented in the brief, including Microsoft, Starbucks, Google, NIKE, Levi Strauss and Co., CBS, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mass., Time Warner Cable , Xerox, Zipcar, and Stonyfield Farm . The cities of New York, Boston, and Cambridge are also represented. Nike is just one of dozens of U.S. corporations that have come out in opposition to the Defense of Marriage Act. The document charges that DOMA causes “unnecessary cost and administrative complexity” for employers located in states where same-sex “ma

Gay put pressure on the Red Cross

Image via Wikipedia Nation's blood supply facing new danger -- stiff political pressure to change rules regarding homosexual blood donors Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) and Rep. Mike Quigley (D-IL) leading the charge TAKE ACTION: See numbers to call below POSTED: July 28, 2011 In 1985 the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)  instituted a rule that homosexual men may not be blood donors. The FDA had determined this was necessary after a rash of innocent people received HIV infections via blood transfusions. Many other countries, such as Canada, also have instituted those restrictions. The reasons are clear. As the  National Journal  observed this week: Men who have sex with other men, including gay and bisexual men, have an HIV infection rate 60 times higher than that of the general population, the FDA says. They have an infection rate 800 times higher than first-time blood donors and 8,000 times higher than the rate of repeat blood donors. Tests cannot pick up a new HIV infection in the

Obama forces people against their conscience

Image
The Obama administration has revoked nearly all of the conscience protections put in place by the administration of President George W. Bush . The policy change came on Friday, and was released as a new rule from the Department of Health and Human Services .   As Rob Stein of The Washington Post reports, “The Obama administration rescinded most of a federal regulation Friday designed to protect health workers who refuse to provide care they find objectionable on personal or religious grounds.” In this case, “most” means almost all of the previous rule has been rescinded. Stein described the action by stating that the Obama administration had “eliminated nearly the entire rule.” All that remains are protections put in place previously covering medical personnel who object to abortion or sterilization.  Gone are all protections for those who object by conscience to abortifacient drugs and “emergency” contraceptives, the treatment of gay men and lesbians, and prescriptions for bi
