Homosexual Marriage is not about equality but power

Image
Rainbow flag. Symbol of gay pride. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Same Sex Marriage is not some warm fluffy equality bunny, it's a bare-faced state power grab. The state gets to entirely remake marriage, not as the man/woman/child model we've inherited from 10,000 years of history and across all cultures but as an anything-goes irrelevant partnership agreement between adults. Only a man and a woman have children despite every fantasy the gender-busters want us to believe. Every child has a right to that natural life. Same sex marriage asks us to ignore reality and children's rights to a mother and father. Marriage will be made irrelevant because this re-make says that, for the first time, children and parenthood has no natural place in marriage. If you have children, the kindly, benevolent state will set your relationship with them. If you don't want a gay marriage don't get one? Everyone gets one because, in the eyes of the state, marriage will be about adults, n

Reject Homosexual Marriage Immorality

Marriage matters because kids deserve a mom and a dad. You've heard me say this again and again. And you've also heard me explain that this isn't a difficult concept or theory to grasp: I've said over and over that it is simply common sense . But when you look around the world today, and increasingly in our own country — especially over the past few weeks — it can be tough to fathom how, if that is really "common sense," so many people manage to discard or ignore it. How can so many folks in our country — ordinary citizens, judges, state legislators — seem to see the matter of marriage so differently from us and from how it's been known in almost every country for all time, if it truly is a matter of "common sense"? Well, perhaps to them the phrase 'common sense' might not mean what we think it means. The philosopher Heraclitus noted that, "While wisdom is common, many live as if they own their own wisdom." Put another way, co

Homosexual Marriages Zealots

Image
Same-sex ' marriage ' activists have launched an unprecedented assault on marriage over the past 12 months. And in that time, we've seen some terrible losses for this cherished institution. But the truth is that these radicals targeted the most liberal of states — states like Illinois and Hawaii where the political situation was set up perfectly for them — and they barely eked out some incredibly narrow victories despite pouring tens of millions of dollars into their campaigns. Well, guess what? They've run out of easy targets. There are no remaining states where Democrats control both legislative houses and the governorship, except in West Virginia which is a very socially conservative state. And we have marriage amendments in place in 30 states to preserve marriage. The fight for marriage goes on — but in the coming year, the fight turns to states like Ohio and Indiana — states in which we have a decided advantage! In these states THE PEOPLE will decide at the

Lesbian Lawmaker Voted Against Hawaii's Same-Sex Marriage Bill

Image
Hawaii (Photo credit: tico_manudo ) Hawaii overtook Illinois yesterday as the latest American state to legalize homosexual marriage (raising the total to nearly 1 in 3 states). But more unexpectedly, given that Hawaii was one of the first states where the issue surfaced, a Hawaii state representative has caused waves for becoming the first openly gay lawmaker to vote against a state's same-sex marriage bill. Jo Jordan voted against SB1 because she said its exemptions were "too narrow," especially regarding religious freedom. "It wasn't protective enough for everybody," Jordan told Honolulu Magazine , later noting, "I'm not here to protect the big churches or the little churches, I'm saying we can't erode what's currently out there. We don't want to scratch at the religious protections at all, because if we don't create a measure that's bulletproof, or as close to bulletproof as possible, then the measure will go t

Hawaii Democrats ram immoral homosexual marriage against wishes of poplation and huge street protests

Marriage Day (Photo credit: Fikra ) Even though their Hawai legislators betrayed them in Hawaii and Illinois — the people continue to stand up and demand that marriage , religious liberties , and the rights of children be defended! In Hawaii, thousands came to the capital to testify in defense of marriage and religious liberty, and at least ten thousand people rallied outside the capital to let their legislators know, in no uncertain terms, that voters support marriage as the union of one man and one woman. And now, one courageous representative is even challenging the new law in court — demanding that the people have the final say on marriage. There is a silver lining now that Hawaii has voted to redefine marriage against the people's wishes: same-sex 'marriage' activists have run out of easy targets. This was the last state where Democrats held the governorship and both houses of the Legislature — the only type of state where they have been able to prevail by l

Obama praises immorality and homosexual sin

HONOLULU , – Although teeming crowds of thousands, perhaps the largest in the history of state politics, opposed it, the Hawaiian legislature passed a bill redefining marriage. In a signing ceremony today, Governor Neil Abercrombie said the bill furthered “fairness, justice, and human equality” in the state. "Today, we celebrate our diversity defining us rather than dividing us," he said, after calling a special session of the legislature to pass the bill. An estimated 10,000 people from the various islands that compose the state attended a marriage preservation rally at the capital of Oahu on Monday, October 28. Another 24,000-plus written comments were sent in on the topic. Some 5,184 citizens signed up for the opportunity to testify before the state Senate 's public hearing for two minutes each, later reduced to one minute. A total of 1,800 showed up, but only 425 were allowed to testify before State Senator Clayton Hee cut the meeting off. Those who

Same-sex marriage has an unexpected foe

Image
Just when you thought that all the arguments against same-sex marriage had been led to the starting gates, a new horse canters up. Writing in  The Conversation , a op-ed site for academics,  Annamarie Jagose , an internationally renowned expert in feminist studies, lesbian/gay studies and queer theory at the University of Sydney , argues that legalisation would be a disaster for gays and lesbians . “Why should marriage continue in the 21st century to be a primary mechanism for the distribution of social recognition and privilege?,” she asks. In recognising some gay and lesbian relationships as marriages, same-sex marriage emphasises the continued illegitimacy of other sexual arrangements and the continued exclusion of other social actors. The legalisation of same-sex marriage has risky consequences that exceed the good intentions of many of those arguing for it. Dr Jagose declares that the enemy is marriage itself. Why should gays and lesbians want to sign up for such an antiqu

Homosexual Marriage and Indiana

Image
As you know, last week the Supreme Court handed down two terrible decisions on marriage. But the Court stopped short of fabricating a "right" to redefine marriage in our Constitution, choosing instead to allow the states to settle the question. This means winning or losing marriage is still up to us, The People . Within hours of last week's rulings, Governor Mike Pence of Indiana issued a statement calling upon the General Assembly to place a constitutional amendment on the ballot for the people of Indiana to vote on next November. NOM has been strongly supportive of this effort since 2011, when the first vote to put a Marriage Protection Amendment on the ballot passed both chambers by large, bipartisan margins. If you do not live in Indiana please forward this to your friends and family who do (or use the social media sharing buttons at the top and bottom of this email) and make a pledge to support our critical work . Over the past few years NOM has been battling i

Hawaii federal judge strikes down bid to redefine marriage in court

Image
Hawaii polynesian cultural centre (Photo credit: Danielle Bauer ) HONOLULU, August 9, 2012 — A federal court Wednesday upheld Hawaii ’s definition of marriage as one man and one woman, rejecting a lawsuit to tear down both the definition as well as Hawaii’s constitutional amendment giving the legislature the power to maintain it. Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys defended the law and the amendment on behalf of Hawaii Family Forum, which the court allowed to intervene in the case in April. “This ruling affirms that protecting and strengthening marriage as the union of one man and one woman is legitimate, reasonable, and good for society,” said Legal Counsel Dale Schowengerdt. “The people of Hawaii adopted a constitutional amendment to uphold marriage, and the court rightly concluded that the democratic process shouldn’t be short-circuited by judicial decree.” The three individuals who filed the suit asked the court to declare the state’s constitutional amendment on

Federal Judge says No to Homosexual Marriage

Image
After a week dominated by the Chick-fil-A grassroots support movement there is more good news for marriage that you will never hear on the nightly news. Earlier this week another federal judge rejected the claim that there is a constitutional right to gay marriage ! A same-sex couple tried to get Hawaii's marriage laws struck down on the grounds that they are allegedly irrational and rooted in bias towards gay people. Hawaii, you will recall, was the original seat of the litigation wars seeking to impose gay marriage upon the American people . The population of the blue state of Hawaii responded in 1998 by overwhelmingly passing (69 percent to 29 percent) the very first marriage amendment, clarifying that the legislature has the right to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Now a federal judge has affirmed the right of the people of Hawaii to make that determination—and in the process rejected the argument that marriage is rooted in bias or bigotry: "Thro
