Pro-family leaders: We forgive World Vision, but it’s time to ‘clean house’

Image
SEATTLE, WA , March 27, 2014 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – While influential Christian groups are praising World Vision for  reversing  its recent  policy change  validating same-sex “marriages,” some pro-family leaders are insisting that while they will forgive the organization, it must "clean house" if it hopes to rebuild trust among its supporters. "World Vision has asked for [forgiveness], so I believe that we need to extend it," Bryan Fischer , director of issue analysis for the American Family Association,  said  on AFA Radio Thursday. But, he added, "There is a difference between forgiveness and trust. … Trust, once it is shattered, … it takes a long time to rebuild. … It cannot be rebuilt with a letter of apology." Life Training Institute President Scott Klusendorf likewise thanked World Vision for the reversal, but  called  for the resignation of “the President and every board member who voted for the initial policy change.” While “we should

WASHINGTON, D.C., December 16 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – In response to calls by the Southern Poverty Law Center to have the army declare the American Family Association as an “extremist” group, the spokesman for the AFA has shot back, accusing the SPLC of being the true “hate” group. “The AFA doesn’t hate anyone,” AFA Director of Issue Analaysi and Spokesman Brian Fischer told LifeSiteNews.com in an e-mail. “The real hate in all this debate is coming from the SPLC and is directed toward people of faith. The real hate group here is the SPLC.” Last week, the SPLC  urged  Army Secretary John McHugh to list the American Family Association (AFA) as an extremist group.  AFA Director of Issue Analysis and spokesman Brian Fischer. According to SPLC's Josh Glasstetter , McHugh should classify the AFA as an extremist group because, he claims, Director of Issue Analysis and spokersperson Bryan Fischer has said homosexuals are responsible for the Holocaust. TRENTON , NJ , August 19, 2013 ( LifeSiteNew s.com ) – Chris Christie signed a controversial bill that bans parents from seeking therapy to help their underage children reduce unwanted same-sex attraction today. In his signing statement (reproduced below), he said he supported the “government limiting parental choice on the care and treatment of their own children” only “reluctantly.” However, he felt that “exposing children to these health risks without clear evidence of benefits that outweigh these serious risks is not appropriate.” Christie also signed a bill allowing children greater access to edible medicinal marijuana. Critics say medicinal marijuana has not been adequately tested. In a press release that accompanied the statement, Christie said, “I’ve always believed that people are born with the predisposition to be homosexual,” quoting a statement he made on CNN . “My religion says [homosexuality is] a sin. But for me, I don’t” agree. New Jersey is the se

History of the Boy Scouts of America (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) February 6, 2013, ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – The Boy Scouts of America has decided to postpone a vote on whether to change its policy on homosexuality until its annual meeting in May. The BSA board, meeting near Dallas, had been expected to vote on the issue today. "After careful consideration and extensive dialogue within the scouting family, along with comments from those outside the organization, the volunteer officers of the Boy Scouts of America's National Executive Board concluded that due to the complexity of this issue, the organization needs time for a more deliberate review of its membership policy," the BSA said in a statement. About 20 percent of youth members' councils had asked for the delay until May, when 1,400 members can vote at their meeting in Grapevine, Texas . Bryan Fischer , a host on American Family Radio , called the announcement a “big win for the pro-family movement

Boy Scouts of America reconsidering ban on open homosexuality

Image
Just six months after reaffirming their commitment to keeping open homosexuals out of the Boy Scouts , the national leaders of the organization have signaled that they may be about to change their minds. Last July, after a confidential, two-year review, an 11-member special committee made up of Scout executives and volunteers came to the unanimous conclusion that a national ban on openly gay scouts and leaders was “absolutely the best policy.” The Boy Scouts won a 5-4 U.S. Supreme Court ruling recognizing their right to ban homosexuals in 2000. But a spokesman for the Scouts said Monday they are considering dropping the national ban in favor of a policy allowing local scouting groups to determine their own policies.  The change will be discussed next week by the organization's national board, the spokesman, Deron Smith, said. The Scouts did not provide a reason for the possible change, but in recent months, gay activists have turned up the pressure on the group.  Zac

Washington, D.C. October 29, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews ) – The homosexual Log Cabin Republicans group have endorsed GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney , after an October 17 meeting in Virginia. The meeting between Romney and the homosexual group, which reportedly lasted only fifteen minutes, was closed to the press and not announced in advance. According to reports, the meeting focused on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which, if passed, could force faith-based institutions and schools to hire open homosexuals.  There was  some speculation  in the media that Romney secured the group’s endorsement by promising to support the bill; however, neither Romney’s campaign nor the Log Cabin group have confirmed any commitment regarding the legislation. “He gave us a firm personal view of opposing workplace discrimination without endorsing ENDA specifically,” said Log Cabin Republican Jim Kolbe , who attended the meeting.
