Denmark Government forces churches to marry homosexuals

Image
The country's parliament voted through the new law on same-sex marriage by a large majority, making it mandatory for all churches to conduct gay marriages . Denmark 's liberal church minister , agnostic and LGBTQ supporter, Mr Sareen, called the vote "historic". "I think it's very important to give all members of the church the possibility to get married. Today, it's only heterosexual couples.  The debate has been really tough," said Mr Sareen, an agnostic who has pushed hard for the legislation since taking his post last autumn. Under the law, individual priests can refuse to carry out the ceremony, but the local bishop must arrange a replacement for their church. The Danish People's Party mounted a strong campaign against the new law, which nonetheless passed with the support of 85 of the country's 111 MPs .  "Marriage is as old as man himself, and you can't change something as fundamental," the party's church

Danish priests maybe forced to marry homosexual couples - defying scripture

Image
416 immoral homosexual couples have exchanged vows in liberal non-bible believing churches around the country since the law change, according to figures from Statistics Denmark . During 2012, the first year in which same-sex weddings were allowed, 51 couples were married, compared with 105 in 2016. Lesbian couples form the largest proportion of the weddings, according to the report. Why? Gay and lesbian couples have been able to marry in civil ceremonies in Denmark since 1989. Bishop of Copenhagen Peter Skov-Jakobsen, who was at the forefront of the committee that developed the same-sex marriage ritual for the Danish church , told Ritzau that he was glad to see so many taking advantage of the new law. He is glad but God is not as he openly defies scripture in the face of God. The bishop added that many Danish priests continued to oppose same-sex church marriages. “Priests that do not wish to conduct this type of marriage can be exempted. But the law is fortunately such that

Is Homosexuality dangerous?

Figure epidemiology of HIV infection, disease and deaths from AIDS - 1986-2006, based on data from PZH (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) English: Percentage of new HIV infection per state from 2006 to 2008 in Malaysia (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Is homosexuality dangerous to society?  The answer depends on what constitutes a danger.  First of all, there is no objective moral standard that secularists have with which to identify wickedness, evil, and moral decay.  At best, all that can be offered is the generic claim that what is dangerous is what causes undue harm and suffering among the general population.  Such dangers could include economic collapse or upheaval, war, famine, plague, earthquakes, disease, etc.  We could add that dangers to society are things that weaken it, make it less viable to care for its population, make it vulnerable to attack from outside and/or within.  This could be anything from bad religion to bad government.  Also, such things as rampant lying, stealin

New Danish Study of 6.5 Million: Health Benefits of Marriage are Unique to Male-Female Unions

Image
A new study in the Journal of Epidemiology followed 6.5 million Danish persons for nearly 30 years (for a total of 112.5 million person-years) looking at how living arrangements (being single, cohabiting, married, widowed or in a same-sex union ) affected their health outcomes. From the official  abstract : "[Hazard Ratios] for overall mortality changed markedly over time, most notably for persons in same-sex marriage . In 2000–2011, opposite-sex married persons (reference, HR = 1) had consistently lower mortality than persons in other marital status categories in women (HRs 1.37–1.89) and men (HRs 1.37–1.66). Mortality was particularly high for same-sex married women (HR = 1.89), notably from suicide (HR = 6.40) and cancer (HR = 1.62), whereas rates for same-sex married men (HR = 1.38) were equal to or lower than those for unmarried, divorced and widowed men. Prior marriages (whether opposite-sex or same-sex) were associated with increased mortality in both women and m

How legalizing someone else's homosexual relationship will threaten you

Image
As the same-sex marriage movement has gained steam over the last few years, one of the most-repeated refrains for it has been, "How does legalizing someone else's same-sex relationship threaten you?" The line of thinking behind that argument is that as long as clergymen aren't forced to perform same-sex ceremonies in a church, religious freedom has been protected. Unfortunately, as we've seen time and again over the last several years, the situation simply doesn't play out that way in the public square. Stuart Shepard and Jeff Johnston, discuss the threat same-sex marriage and civil unions pose to religious freedom Watch this important video update > A quick look at just a handful of recent examples illustrates this point vividly: • Bakery owners in both Colorado and Oregon face complaints for refusing to make cakes for same-sex ceremonies. The Oregon attorney general 's office is investigating the latter, and that baker could face a fine up to

More people say no to Homosexual Marriage

One issue that has been in headlines recently is "gay marriage." We were curious to know how federal employees and retirees (most of our readers fall into these categories) react to this subject. In most of the polls on political issues, readers tend to favor the liberal side of the political spectrum. In large part, this is due to economic self-interest. On the issue of gay marriage, however, readers gave a more conservative response. 64 percent of those responding are opposed to legalizing same-sex marriage and 33 percent said they are in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage. Three percent are undecided on the issue. Some of the reasons given for being against same-sex marriage are based on religious beliefs. Some readers think it is destructive to society to allow same-sex marriage. Still others are in favor of civil unions but prefer restricting marriage to a relationship between a man and a woman. Those speaking out in favor of allowing same-sex marriage often viewed i

Denmark bishop concerned same-sex ‘marriage’ law could force unions on Catholic Church

COPENHAGEN, Denmark , June 11, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – The Catholic Bishop of Copenhagen , Czeslaw Kozon, says he is worried that the Catholic Church in Denmark may be forced to perform “ marriage ” ceremonies for homosexual couples in the future. Bishop Czeslaw Kozon of Copenhagen Politicians in Denmark have voted to  force churches  in the established Evangelical Lutheran Church to perform same-sex “marriage” ceremonies inside their sanctuaries. Since 1997, when same-sex “marriage” was legalized, homosexuals have been able to get “married” in a blessing ceremony after the normal church service , but now the unions will be part of the service as they are with heterosexual couples. The law takes effect June 15. In an interview with Vatican Radio , Bishop Kozon said that the new law might affect Catholic churches sometime in the future. When asked if the law will be applied to other denominations and religions, Kozon  replied , “We have been assured by the Minister

Denmark set to introduce same-sex ‘marriage’ legislation

Image
Image via Wikipedia COPENHAGEN, October 28, 2011 - The Danish government is set to introduce a bill in early 2012 that will allow same-sex couples to hold weddings in the national state Church of Denmark and be “married” under Danish law , according to a  Copenhagen Post report . Denmark was the first country in the world to legalize homosexual civil partnerships in 1989. This legislation gave same-sex couples all the legal rights of a married man and woman, but stopped short of allowing same-sex “marriage” and church weddings. “The first same-sex weddings will hopefully become reality in Spring 2012,” said Minister for Gender Equality and Ecclesiastical Affairs Manu Sareen, a Social Liberal, to the local Jyllands-Posten newspaper, according to the Post. “I look forward to the moment the first homosexual couple steps out of the church. I’ll be standing out there throwing rice .” If the legislation passes Denmark will become the eighth European country to give homosexuals the righ
