Homophobia sinful but unsure about Homosexuality - Justin Welby Anglican Communion

Image
Justin Welby has said he struggles with the question of whether gay sex is a sin and acknowledged that the gulf between conservative and liberal Anglicans on the issue is “irreconcilable”.  The Bible is very clear regarding the sinfulness of homosexuality but the head of the Anglican Church appears to want to sit on the fence and not offend - why doesn't he declare what the scripture clearly teaches? Asked if gay sex was sinful, Welby said: “You know very well that is a question I can’t give a straight answer to. Sorry, badly phrased there. I should have thought that one through.” Pressed on why he could not answer, the archbishop said: “Because I don’t do blanket condemnation and I haven’t got a good answer to the question. I’ll be really honest about that. I know I haven’t got a good answer to the question. Inherently, within myself, the things that seem to me to be absolutely central are around faithfulness, stability of relationships and loving relationships.” Welby sa

First openly gay Episcopal bishop says he is divorcing his husband

Bishop Gene Robinson of New Hampshire at Trinity Church, Columbus, Ohio,  The first openly gay Episcopal bishop, who became a symbol for gay rights far beyond the church while deeply dividing the world's Anglicans , plans to divorce his husband. Bishop V. Gene Robinson announced the end of his marriage to Mark Andrew in an email sent to the Diocese of New Hampshire , where he served for nine years before retiring in 2012. Robinson would not disclose details about the end of their 25-year relationship but   wrote Sunday   in the Daily Beast that he owed a debt to Andrew "for standing by me through the challenges of the last decade." "It is at least a small comfort to me, as a gay rights and marriage equality advocate, to know that like any marriage, gay and lesbian couples are subject to the same complications and hardships that afflict marriages between heterosexual couples," Robinson wrote. "All of us sincerely intend, when we take our wedding

Australia: Response to Kristina Keneally on homosexual marriage plebiscite and Churches

Image
Kristina Keneally. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) When it comes to the same-sex marriage plebiscite the Christian churches are making a mistake of biblical proportions. Before the 2 July election many Christian churches urged their voters to support a plebiscite by voting for the Coalition .  There is no way of knowing if this statement is true. Many Christian voters may have chosen to vote for independents and not the Coalition because Turnbull was promoting homosexual marriage as compared to Abbott who was againt it. There is no evidence for this comment. But it is true many, abandoned Turnbull. Sydney Catholic Archbishop Anthony Fisher didn’t tell his parishioners how to vote, but he did write that “we could all benefit from the kind of national conversation a plebiscite should occasion”. Fisher and I don’t agree on how marriage should be defined, but there was a time I largely agreed with him on that sentiment. But I’ve changed my mind. Keneally is welcome to redefi

Dilution of Doctrine for divorce - why not gays - says Kaine?

Image
Kaine ’s argument  - If relationships the church once condemned as adultery are no longer a major, soul-threatening sin, then why should a committed same-sex relationship be any different? If the church makes post-sexual revolution allowances for straight couples, shouldn’t it make the same ones for people who aren’t even attracted to the opposite sex? Theological error by Kaine - First there are some church denominations that are liberal and all their doctrine changes constantly....with the cultural wind! They are irrelevant to this discussion. But conservative bible adherent denominations acknowledge people's sin and repentance from that sin.  But that does not imply that the sin - eg: divorce, or homosexual sinful are no longer a sin. According to the words of Jesus, divorce and remarriage on the wrong grounds will always be a sin.  Kaine's concept of allowance means - unbiblical divorce and remarriage is no longer a sin in the Catholic church because the Pope

New Zealand Anglican Church delays decision on same-sex weddings for two years

Gay Anglicans are reacting with a mix of fury and resignation after the Anglican Synod today failed to approve the blessing of gay marriages . They dont care what the Bible and history say about the sin of homosexuality they just want to have their sin recognized or leave.  Wellington Anglican Paul Day posted on Facebook that he was leaving the Church for a second time "over the ongoing hatred they show for people like me". This is a good thing to have the pro-homosexual, bible ignorant anti-God people leave rather than kill a church and it holiness.  "I know you must be writing this with the collective fury we all feel right now," he said on the page of the liberal church St-Matthew -in-the-City. St Matthew's vicar Rev Helen Jacobi, who was an observer at the General Synod in Napier , said: "Today I hang my head in shame." Massey University social work professor Mark Henrickson, who led a research project on New Zealand's gay com

Here is the faulty theological argument - God celebrate LGBT marriage?

Canterbury Cathedral. View from the north west circa 1890–1900 (retouched from a black & white photograph). (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) This article was written by an Anglican priest . It seems like a nice cordial friendly piece which seeks to be open and friendly but at the cost of biblical truth. He has presented his flawed argument seeking to sound biblical, Christian and righteous. But in reality, it is a false charade of half truth and outright lies. For example read the quote below, and see where this is coming from. "LGBT Christians do not want to be "included" on the basis that their sinful relationships are overlooked by a merciful God , but rather that their relationships can themselves be  sacramental  - visible signs of the divine love." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ THIS IS THE ARTICLE BELOW While the Primates were ensconced in the precincts of Canterbury Cathedral , a fascinating
