Critics of the process  say it was crafted clandestinely and that neither parents nor priests in charge of parishes with schools were consulted. The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) wasn't interested in commenting on whether  Amoris Laetitia  means same-sex couples must be given Holy Communion if their "conscience" tells them it's OK. Pope Francis warned on Saturday of a " global war " against traditional marriage and the family, saying both were under attack from gender theory and divorce .
