Response to Mr. Vines' conclusion on the Bible and Homosexuality

Image
English: Gender symbols, sexual orientation: heterosexuality, homosexuality, bisexuality. Česky: (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Mr. Vines says, "The Bible never directly addresses, and it certainly does not condemn, loving, committed same-sex relationships. There is no biblical teaching about sexual orientation , nor is there any call to lifelong celibacy for gay people." The way Mr. Vines has phrased the issue is in favor of his conclusion, but the  Bible  does discuss the issue of homosexuality and clearly condemns it.  Mr. Vines has admitted so in his examination of Leviticus 18:22, which he mistakenly says is not applicable to Christians today.  He says there is no biblical teaching about the topic of "sexual orientation."  However, the Bible addresses "sin orientation" and condemns it.  Homosexuality is a sinful orientation. Mr. Vines says, "if the remedy against sexual sin for straight Christians is marriage, why should the remedy for g

Homosexuals are born that way. Therefore it is natural and good.

English: Gender symbols, sexual orientation: heterosexuality, homosexuality, bisexuality. Česky: (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) One of the arguments offered by those in support of homosexuality is that homosexuality is an orientation that people are born with and it has the same moral value as the hair color someone has at birth.  The implication is that since they are said to be born gay, then it is normal and morally acceptable.  The media seems to support this idea, and it is a common position held to justify the behavior.  But there are two problems with this position. First of all, there are a plethora of studies with conflicting results and conclusions on both sides of the argument.  Nevertheless, we could quickly consider studies that deal with identical twins .  If genetics determines sexual orientation , then it should be manifested when studying twins who share the exact same genetic information .  However, that isn't the case.  Consider this... "...If genet

The 21st century gestapo: fringe extremists in the homosexual movement

Image
The Gestapo in Nazi Germany entered Jewish-owned shops to intimidate and demolish them. To do so, they had the full support of the state, the courts and the media to carry out their mission. Today, we are witnessing a similar attempt in Canada , the U.S. and the U.K. to intimidate and demolish businesses — only this time, it is not Jews who are being persecuted, but Christian men and women. Today’s apparent Gestapo are the fringe extremists in the homosexual movement and their supporters, who target Christian businesses, such as  flower shops, print shops, bakeries , church halls, etc. to demand they supply services for their same-sex activities, such as same-sex marriages and receptions: These activists do so with full knowledge that the owners of these shops would be in contravention of the principles of their Christian faith. When refused the service, the activists then report to the Human Rights Commission and lay a complaint of discrimination against the offenders, knowi

This banquet hall was sued for refusing to host same-sex ‘weddings’ – and won

Image
A Christian business owner in Pennsylvania has won a rare court victory after refusing to host a same-sex “wedding” at his banquet hall . John Antolick was sued by Ashley Giarratano and her mother, Barb, for a refund of the $1,000 deposit they had put down for Giarratano’s wedding and reception after learning through social media that his Inne of the Abingtons banquet hall had previously turned down a lesbian couple who wanted to hold their “wedding” at the facility. Giarratano is heterosexual and engaged to a man, but her mother told Citizen’s Voice that “discrimination goes against everything we believe in as a family,” and that “our conscience wouldn’t allow us to invite our gay and lesbian friends and family to a wedding at a place they know openly discriminates against them.” But Antolick denies discriminating against lesbians and gays. "We are happy to host dinners, birthday parties, or just about any other kind of event regardless of a client's sexual orientati

Baking Cakes for Homosexual Marriages

Image
English: Wedding cake of a same-sex marriage  (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) The call for tolerating same-sex marriage has become a demand for compliance. Cases like Masterpiece Cake Shop in Colorado and Elane Huguenin's New Mexico photography business have shown us that "tolerance" ends exactly where the right to say "no" begins. And so people, businesses, and non-profits are forced to choose between their livelihoods and their convictions. Some fellow Christians are giving this new state of affairs a thumbs-up, including Kirsten Powers , whose fearless stand against abortion I admire, and Skye Jethani, a friend I respect greatly. They argue that Christians who won't participate in gay " weddings " are "applying Scripture selectively." If you object to baking a cake, shooting photographs or playing music for a ceremony for two men or two women, they say, you should also object to serving anyone with an unbiblical lifestyle. But since

Tolerating homosexual marriage is now a demand enforced by Government

Christians Business refusal to not support homosexual marriage ceremonies not comparable to racials egregation

Image
I’m sure you’ve heard the argument: A Christian who refuses to support  same-sex marriage is like a business owner in the segregated South who refused to serve black people. If you refuse to use your skill to profit off something that you find sinful, so the argument goes, are you not exactly like those businesses that turned African-Americans away? Here are two real-life examples: there was a  baker in Oregon  who refused to make a cake for a same-sex wedding . The Oregon Labor Commission found that this was illegal discrimination. The baker was forced to go out of business, or face fines of hundreds of thousands of dollars. He ended up closing his doors. Then there  was the photographer in New Mexico  who was asked to shoot a same-sex wedding. She refused, basically saying because she thought the marriage was sinful, she was not sure her pictures would present the ceremony in the best light, so to speak (she in turn recommended other photographers who could do the wedding).

Arizona passes bill allowing businesses to refuse service to gays based on religious beliefs

State senators in Arizona voted heavily along partisan lines Wednesday in passing a bill that allows business  owners to refuse service to homosexuals based on their religious beliefs . With Republicans in the majority, the bill, SB 1062, passed with a 17-13 vote. It defeated attempts to expand existing employment laws which protect against racial and religious discrimination to include sexual orientation , according to the Arizona Daily Star . A companion bill is also expected to pass in the House shortly. Republican Sen. Steve Yarbrough explained that the decision to support the measure is more about protecting people of faith from discrimination rather that discriminating against homosexuals. "This bill is not about discrimination," said Yarbrough who is a sponsor of the bill. "It's about preventing discrimination against people who are clearly living out their faith." The Arizona Senate Democratic Caucus responded in a statement that
