‘I regret my sex change, but Scot Govt will put more people on that path’

Image
A woman who regrets her sex change has warned that the Scottish Government’s proposals to make changing legal sex easier will mean even more people transitioning. Sinead Watson first became uncomfortable with being a woman in her early 20s, and she was told online she must be transgender. She changed her name to Sean, and was given hormone treatments by the NHS, before eventually having a double mastectomy. ‘Why do I hate myself?’ Sinead said: “I was very aware that I wasn’t going to literally change my sex, but I thought if I could transform to such an extent that I passed and lived socially and legally as male it would solve all the problems I had”. “After the double mastectomy in 2017, there was a period of bliss, where I was like ‘I’ve finally done it. I set this goal for myself and I’ve achieved it’. “And when the novelty of that wore off I thought, ‘You know, why do I still hate myself? Why do I still have all these issues?’” She decided that rather than continu

Teachers cannot opt out of teaching gay ‘marriage’ in school sex-ed classes: Scottish NHS

Image
EDINBURGH,  – While Scottish government draft guidelines currently allow teachers with moral objections to opt-out of certain aspects of the country’s new sex-ed curriculum, several National Health Service boards have objected to the opt-out clause. They are also objecting to provisions allowing parents to opt their children out of the classes. Currently, the guidelines require teachers who have a moral objection to things like teaching about gay “marriage” to opt out, if alternative arrangements are made "where possible." But that’s not good enough, according to a submission from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde .  “It is extremely concerning that teaching staff would be provided an opportunity to refuse to participate in this particular aspect of the curriculum,” said the board, one of the largest in the country.  Sex education can be compared, they said, to “other areas of the taught curriculum where conscience may be a factor and no option to withdraw is p

Scottish school chaplain removed after posting Facebook message on homosexuality

Image
GLASGOW, January 7, 2014  - A Church of Scotland minister has been removed as chaplain from a Glasgow non- denominational school after parents complained about a Facebook post he wrote expounding traditional Christian teaching on homosexuality. In November, Rev. Donald Michael MacInnes, minister of Gairbraid Church in Maryhill , Glasgow, posted his criticism of the Scottish government's decision to support a bill legalizing same-sex "marriage." Rev. Donald Michael MacInnes "We can now expect to see the school curriculum changed to the end that our children will be taught this perversion as if it were a good thing,” he wrote. Glasgow City Council , which oversees Glasgow Gaelic School, announced Jan. 6 th  that the remarks had cost the minister his job. A spokeswoman for the Council said while the minister was entitled to his opinion, “The man is no longer the Chaplain at the school and this decision was taken by the headteacher as soon a

Scottish MP's will loose seats if they vote for homosexual marriage

Image
Several prominent MSPs could lose their seats over their support for same-sex marriage, a campaign group has warned. In ten constituencies, the number of people who are against gay marriage is greater than the MSPs' respective majorities, according to a list produced by Scotland for Marriage. Three senior MSPs from the Scottish National Party appear on the list - Gil Paterson , Sandra White and Marco Biagi - along with the former Scottish Labour leader Iain Gray. Democracy A spokesman from Scotland for Marriage said the analysis is "merely democracy in action" and is not a threat. "MSPs need to pay heed to what we are saying and our supporters will not be frightened to demonstrate their feelings at the next election. And for some, their votes could be decisive", he said. "Our members are exercising their democratic rights and MSPs should have the decency to meet and listen to those who don't share their views", he added. Traditional marriage advocates could be prosecuted in Scotland, legal experts warn

Image
Despite all government insistence to the contrary, those who publicly object to gay “marriage” in Scotland could be facing lawsuits or even prosecutions, a group of legal experts has warned. The  Faculty of Advocates  has cautioned the Scottish government that their plans to redefine marriage will result in serious threats to freedom of expression. Combined with the 2010 Equality Act, the draft law will create “conflict” between those who in conscience disagree with the concept of same-sex “marriage” and “public authorities,” who will be “required to promote same-sex marriage,” the Faculty said  in their submission  on the bill’s public consultation. Freedom of speech to object to redefining marriage would be offered only to religious ministers under the bill, but the Faculty of Advocates have pointed out that this is a right that belongs to all citizens. Citing the case of Lillian Ladele , who recently  lost her last appeal  to the European Court of Human Rights , they

Scottish Catholic adoption agency threatened with closure over gay adoption

Image
Another British Catholic adoption agency is being threatened with closure by the government for refusing to toe the government’s line of support for the homosexualist political agenda. St. Margaret ’s Children and Family Care Society, associated with the Catholic archdiocese of Glasgow, has lost a ruling in its argument with the Scottish government’s charity regulator, which is demanding the charity drop its policy of adopting only to mothers and fathers who have been married for at least two years.  The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) has found St. Margaret’s in violation of the Equality Act 2010 , saying that its policy "discriminated unlawfully" against same-sex couples. St. Margaret’s is remaining defiant, however, saying that they will fight the decision. The Christian Institute campaign group quoted a St. Margaret’s board member saying,  “The ultimate irony is that apparently in the name of tolerance, societies such as Saint Margaret’s ar

What happens when we redefine marriage?

October 10, 2012 ( Mercatornet.com ) - Back  in January  I set out David Cameron ’s proposals for creating same-sex marriage, which he announced at the British Conservative Party ’s annual Conference in October 2011, alongside some arguments against those plans. A year later, the controversy has moved on. There are now two parallel movements for same-sex marriage in the UK , a result of the devolution of powers to the Scottish Government .  A consultation  in Scotland ended in December 2011 and its results were snuck out shortly before Olympic fever dominated the Isles. It is notable how divisive same-sex marriage has been north of Hadrian’s Wall: an ‘unprecedented’ 77,508 responses were received in the ‘largest consultation exercise of its type ever held in Scotland’. Over 33,000 responses were submitted via forms amended by organisations with an interest in the two core proposals of same-sex civil marriage and religious civil partnerships. EDINBURGH, August 27, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – After suspending discussions with the government over “ gay marriage ,” Britain’s most senior Catholic prelate issued a pastoral letter this weekend declaring Sunday August 26 as “National Marriage Sunday”.  The letter  was read in all 500 Scottish Catholic parishes this weekend. “We reaffirm before you all the common wisdom of humanity and the revealed faith of the Church that marriage is a unique life-long union of a man and a woman,” the letter said. Cardinal Keith O'Brien The letter by Keith O’Brien, the cardinal archbishop of St. Andrews and Edinburgh , was promulgated by all the Catholic bishops of Scotland . It announced the launch of the Church’s National Commission for Marriage and the Family that will help co-ordinate a campaign against “gay marriage”. The Commission will be composed of a bishop and laymen and will seek to promote the “true nature of marriage as both a human institution and a union blesse

Edinburgh cardinal suspends discussion with govt’ over ‘gay marriage’

EDINBURGH, August 20, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - The head of the Catholic Church in Scotland has suspended all communications with the government over plans to create “gay marriage” in the province. Keith O’Brien, the Cardinal archbishop of Edinburgh issued a statement yesterday saying that all future discussions on the subject between the government and the Church will be conducted through officials. Scottish Premier Alex Salmond and Cardinal Keith O'Brien In a move the newspapers are calling a “snub” to Scottish premier Alex Salmond, Cardinal O’Brien said through a spokesman that he “is really keen that the perspective and the position of the Catholic church has conveyed to the Scottish government, but he isn’t convinced that he necessarily has to do that in person.” A spokesman for Salmond denied that he is no longer on speaking terms with the cardinal, saying the two had an “entirely amicable” conversation by phone on Saturday.
