Chris Christie  succumbed to homosexual activist propaganda and myths in  signing into law  a bill that bans professional counselors in the Garden State “from attempting to change a minor’s sexual orientation.” LaBarbera made the following points regarding Republican Christie siding with the “Big Gay Government” agenda by banning parents from helping their children overcome the destructive pull of homosexuality: 1) Christie cited the pro-“gay” American Psychological Association  in claiming that efforts to change sexual orientation “can pose critical health risks” to children. But he strangely did not mention the existence of successful, happy  former  homosexuals. Nor did he acknowledge the widely-available data pointing to the myriad health risks associated with homosexual behavior itself – such as the  rising HIV risk  among “young men who have sex with men.”

The notion of the homosexual as a deeply disturbed deviant in need of treatment was the orthodoxy built on Biblical scripture which remains true but secularism has rejected this notion along all other forms of sexual restraint.  There is good reason to believe now, more than ever before, that many homosexuals can be successfully treated by psychotherapy, and we should encourage homosexuals to seek this help.[3] Such views about the origin of homosexual preferences have become part of political culture as well. When, in 1992, Vice-President Dan Quayle offered the view that homosexuality "is more of a choice than a biological situation.... It is a wrong choice,"[4] he merely reasserted the belief that homosexuality reflected psychological conditioning with little biological basis, and certainly without being influenced by a person's biological inheritance . Homosexuals today commonly claim that they cannot help being homosexual. Homosexuality, they argue, is innate: perhaps genetically determined, in any case inescapable. It is what they are. God made them that way. Therefore, they conclude, church and society should accept their homosexuality as natural and normal. Similar questions arise in other areas. Some years ago, it was learned that an abnormally high proportion of men with a “double y” ( XYY ) chromosome engage in anti-social or criminal behavior. Later came the discovery that a certain gene is associated with a relatively high percentage of alcoholics. And still more recently, Simon LeVay , a gay activist and neuroscientist, argued that there are some significant differences between the brains of exclusive homosexuals and those of presumed heterosexuals. In fact, people think that’s as axiomatic as saying the earth revolves around the sun. No rational person rejects the idea. The only hold-outs, it is said, are either ignorant of science, homophobic, or bigots (read: Christians). But before I explain why this view is beset with problems, let me make a tactical suggestion. Many Christians get defensive when someone says homosexuality is inborn. I understand the temptation to argue against this claim. But it’s a mistake to try to show it’s false, at least initially. That’s because the claim is not an argument. It’s just an opinion and, therefore, not necessarily true. In order for their claim to become a bona fide argument, it must be supported with evidence or reasons. So, instead of defending your convictions, make them defend their claim.
