The Australian Christian Lobby has welcomed as a good “first step”, news that the NSW Government will give parents the right to “opt in” to the controversial Safe Schools program. The Australian Christian Lobby welcomes news that the NSW government is considering an “opt-in” option for parents regarding the Safe Schools program following a debate in the Parliament yesterday. The Chinese community petition against the so-called Safe Schools program is to be debated Thursday in the NSW Parliament, prompting the Australian Christian Lobby to call on parents to fill the Assembly’s public gallery in a show of parental concern. The petition, signed by 17,000 people is scheduled to be debated at 3:30pm. A PUPIL at a northern beaches school was left “violated” after being asked to analyse sex scenarios of fictional middle-aged people as part of a personal development lesson. The girls were asked to categorise a number of examples of sexual behaviours of middle-aged fictional characters, including “Joseph”, a middle-aged married man who fantasises only about men but talks negatively about homosexuals, although he is attracted to other males. Another involves a promiscuous heterosexual woman, “Zarita”, who has multiple sexual partners during her 16-year marriage. And “Philip” was a further example — he started having sex with adult men as an adolescent. A leading family law and child-protection expert has criticised the teaching of radical gender theory in classrooms across the country, likening the “odd and unscientific” beliefs promoted by groups such as the Safe Schools Coalition to those espoused by Scientology . Over 30 Qld schools have opted in to use the resources, including 5 primary schools and 7 P-12 schools , despite our Education Minister assuring the Parliament that the resources would only be made available to secondary schools . I have commenced a Qld Parliament petition – not calling for the program to be scrapped – but for an inquiry into the appropriateness of the materials and for the Qld schools who are using the resources to be made public as in other states, so that parents can know what their children will be being taught. The Australian Christian Lobby is demanding the Queensland Government cease supporting a school based anti-bullying program for gay, intersex and gender diverse children, accusing it of promoting "radical sexual experimentation", by encouraging the acceptance of gender and sexual diverse children. The Safe Schools Coalition Australia program was made available to Queensland schools from the start of the second semester this year. The federally-funded program, which is also available in Victoria, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory and Tasmania , is not compulsory, with principals able to choose whether or not their school could benefit from it. But it was a crime, when the law stated that homosexuality was against nature and the community and was a deviant behaviour.
