Homosexuality now must be applauded not tolerated

Image
There are three obvious questions from the recent scrap about gay marriage. Today’s post is for those that have been sleeping for the past week and missed the controversy all together. If you suffer from gay-marriage-controversy overload, you may have missed the newest twists and turns, which is a shame because you missed some really good writing. Today I want to give a round-up of what others have written, and direct you to some of the better posts on this issue. But first a little history: in the past few months gay “marriage” has been legalized in 17 states. Most of these saw marriage legalized by judges, and a few saw the turn at the ballot box. Since then there has been a tidal wave of additional lawsuits in the remaining 33 states that ban it. Every indicator is that those bans will fall as well. In the meantime, some same-sex couples have sued bakers, photographers, and florists who have declined to provide their services to gay weddings. Denny Burk has a powerful article de

LGBT activists calling for boycott on Salvation Army's fundraising

LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) activists are calling for a boycott of the Salvation Army’s annual red kettle drive because of its stance on homosexuality. Bil Browning, writing on the LGBQT blog The Bilerico Project , said, “As the holidays approach, the Salvation Army bell ringers are out in front of stores dunning shoppers for donations. If you care about gay rights, you'll skip their bucket in favor of a charity that doesn't actively discriminate against the LGBT community. The Salvation Army has a history of active discrimination against gays and lesbians.” Meanwhile, a Facebook page called “ Boycott The Salvation Army” now has over 2,000 likes. The description of the page reads, “The Salvation Army is not only a charity, but an evangelical church promoting

Would Martin Luther King Jr. have fought for same-sex marriage rights?

Deutsch: 1964: Martin Luther King Português: Martin Luther King (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) The ongoing debate was recently sparked by Michael Long , author of the upcoming book Keeping It Straight? Martin Luther King, Jr. , Homosexuality , and Gay Rights , who feels the civil rights leader would have sided with those advocating for gay marriage. However, most do not believe King would have petitioned for homosexual marriage. The Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson , founder and president of The Brotherhood Organization of A New Destiny, told The Christian Post that in studying King’s speeches, he could not conceive the civil rights leader heading a gay rights movement. “King was a man sent by God to do His will and there is no way that you can have that type of relationship with God and accept wrong as right," Peterson told CP. "In the scriptures it says that homosexuality is an abomination against God.” Although the Rev. Martin Luther King

Ministry study shows effectiveness of counselling in reducing homosexuality

Image
According to the survey, which was released Friday, 55 percent of those who sought out this kind of counselling experienced SSA with less intensity and frequency than before they received help. Additionally, 71 percent of those surveyed said they were either "satisfied" or "very satisfied" with the counselling they received. "Hundreds of people are telling us their counselling worked, they benefited significantly, it helped them feel better about themselves -- and in some cases it even saved their lives," said Rich Wyler , founder and director of People Can Change, in a statement. "Their voices have been largely silenced or ignored by pro-gay activists and mainstream media in favour of a more politically correct view, but the experience of these men and women is real. It is valid. They can tell you from firsthand experience that counselling to reduce homosexuality can be effective, even life-saving. Their voluntary choice to pursue change deserves

Parents support 11-year-old gender confused daughter to go back to school as a boy

EDMONTON, Alberta, September 3, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - An 11-year-old girl is going back to school this week in the persona of a boy with the help of her parents and a homosexual activist from the University of Alberta. When Wrenna Kauffman, who now calls herself Wren, began showing signs of gender confusion, her parents contacted  Kristopher Wells , a homosexual activist from the University of Alberta's Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services, who advised them that their daughter should be allowed to start living life at home as a boy.  Wrenna's parents allowed her to be interviewed by  CTV News , where she said she always wanted to be a boy and that her body caused her to feel "like you're trapped inside someone else's body that you don't want to be in."  According to a  Canadian Press  report, Wells told the parents that "more students these days are not just coming out in school as gay but also as transgender or trans

"Gay" baby Jesus billboard outside NZ church enrages community

Image
A new billboard outside of a church in New Zealand is drawing criticism from the local community and the wider Christian population by inferring that the son of God was homosexual. The billboard states that its "time for Jesus to come out." The church, St. Matthew -in-the-City in Auckland , is described on their home page as a progressive Anglican church and posted the advertisement as a way to start a new debate. Their argument is that Jesus might have been gay – a dubious claim that has been met with stern opposition. Notable theologians have repeatedly charged that the Bible is clear over which unions were acceptable in the eyes of Jesus, though. "It is simply undeniable that Jesus assumed heterosexual marriage as God's design and plan … Jesus sees all sexual activity outside this covenant as sinful," Daniel Akin, president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary , previously stated during a theological conference. The controversial poster reads

Pro-family groups outraged over US making gay pride events a 'priority'

Organizations from a dozen countries, including the United States , have signed a letter demanding that the U.S. Embassy in Prague cancel plans to participate in the Czech Republic's gay pride parade on Aug. 18. Don Feder , Communications Director of the World Congress of Families Leadership, has noted that the widespread support for the letter gives a clear indication of the "outrage" being felt. "Obama is the first president to embrace gay marriage and the gay rights agenda. Many people simply can't believe that the American government is doing these things," said Feder in a phone interview with The Chris

Reportedly 100 protesters, mainly part of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community ( LGBT ), marched silently in front of the Great Auditorium to protest Cameron's Christian views regarding homosexuality. The protesters, a part of the self-described civil rights group Ocean Grove United, marched with signs that read "Kirk! Your Words Hurt Us!" as roughly 6,000 couples showed up to hear Cameron speak on "Love Worth Fighting For," a presentation on Christian marriage . In
