Daniel Sarno, 54, who is homosexual, admitted to sending over 300 letters to Peter Wolfgang, executive director of the  Family Institute of Connecticut , expressing his anger over the Family Institute’s opposition to same-sex “marriage.”  The letters he sent were uniformly abusive.  Many contained death threats. “No mercy for homophobes,” one letter  read . “I suggest you make your funeral arrangements real soon, Mr. Wolfgang. WASHINGTON, D.C. , February 8, 2013, ( Family Research Council ) - It seems hard to believe, Jim Treacher wrote yesterday, "but once upon a time, there was a shooting the national news didn't want to talk about." That's because the shooting was at FRC. And although the gunman was a  politically-motivated activist  who stormed a building less than a mile from the White House , there's a reason most Americans have never heard of him. After years of  insisting that  conservatives  were the hateful ones , the attack at FRC was an inconvenient storyline for a media  bent on hiding  where the real intolerance lies. The day after Floyd Corkins walked into our headquarters and opened fire, I said that while Corkins was responsible for the shooting, he had been  given a license to perpetrate this act of violence by groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) which has recklessly labeled every organization with which they disagree a "hate group."

It could have been me or my staff. That crossed my mind when I learned the  deeply disturbing breaking news : The Family Research Council shooter told the FBI he used the Southern Poverty Law Center 's " hate group " designation on their website to ID and target his victims for a would-be mass murder rampage. According to the  Associated Press , the shooter "also planned to target other organizations that oppose gay marriage if he wasn't stopped. [...] In his pants pocket, police found a handwritten list of groups that also oppose gay marriage." WASHINGTON, D.C. , October 25, 2012,  – A federal grand jury has added terrorism to the charges facing the gay rights activists accused of shooting a security guard at the headquarters of the Family Research Council . The United States Attorney’s Office announced several new charges, including the terrorism charge, yesterday. The terrorism charge, which carries a penalty of up to 30 years in prison, is the first ever under a 2002 District of Columbia anti-terrorism statute. Leo Johnson was shot in the arm on August 15, after confronting a gunman who allegedly walked into FRC’s building, expressed disagreement with the organization’s politics, and opened fire.
