Same-Sex Marriage Supreme Court Decision

Image
As a Christian how are we to think about this? To be honest, this decision did not surprise me, but I was disappointed. I had held out some hope that the constitution and not the winds of public opinion would win the day. But that was not to be. 3 Quick Observations About The Same-Sex Marriage Supreme Court Decision 1) The world has not ended, but make no mistake this will have significant cultural impact. There are 2 sides of this balance beam we can’t afford to fall off of. First, we need to remember that Christianity is still true, regardless of what is going on in a particular cultural moment. Our hope is fixed in Christ , not a cultural majority. We have an opportunity to love and engage. Let’s not miss that. The other way not to react to this news is to say it won’t effect me and my marriage and everything will continue on as it has. That is not true. And that will become more painfully evident in the days ahead–especially for children. 2) Whatever your views on same-s

Treatise against homosexuality

The   Book of Gomorrah,   St. Peter Damian ’s classic treatise against a plague of homosexuality in the Catholic priesthood during the eleventh century, has now been published with a new translation by LifeSiteNews reporter Matthew Cullinan Hoffman and a foreword by Cardinal Juan Sandoval Íñiguez . The Book of Gomorrah and St. Peter Damian’s Struggle Against Ecclesiastical Corruption   includes a complete translation of Damian’s   Book of Gomorrah,   as well as an extensive account of the saint’s battle against the terrible corruption in the Church of his day.  Damian fearlessly rebuked popes and bishops in his quest to restore the integrity of the Catholic priesthood and the morals of the faithful.  He also successfully confronted the German Emperor Henry IV to protect the sacrament of marriage and prevent him from receiving an easy annulment. In the   Book of Gomorrah,   Damian warns Pope St. Leo IX that “the cancer of sodomitic impurity is creeping through the cleric

UN agency includes ten year old boys in definition of gay behavior

The UN family planning agency ( UNFPA ) drifted further into controversial territory with a new report on HIV and sexually transmitted infections among men who have sex with men – and boys. UNFPA’s  report  implies that promiscuity and dangerous sexual practices are a pervasive part of the male homosexual experience, a charge that the Southern Poverty Law Center would label as “hate” if it came from a conservative Christian group. At the same time, the report ignores the fact that having multiple sexual partners, especially multiple concurrent partners, greatly raises the risk of infection. The advice it offers for changing sexual behavior is limited to using condoms and lubricants. UNFPA begins with a definition of MSM as “men who have sex with men,” and “should be understood to include young men, i.e. those in the age range 10–24 years.” While MSM is generally considered to be a behavior rather than an identity, UNFPA includes those “who experience sexual attraction towar

Richard Di Natale - his love for homosexual sin and hatred for those opposed!

Senator Bob Brown and Richard Di Natale in Melbourne,   Wikipedia ) HATEFUL. Clap-trap. Intolerant. Demonised. Offensive. From the Dark Ages . These are some of the insults hurled around by panellists during a fiery debate on same-sex marriage on Q&A ABC Australia. Pure abuse with no logical reasonable argument put forward. JUst shut down and shout down any person who would even question ...homosexuality. The verbal sparring began when traditional marriage advocate Katy Faust  spoke clearly and with scientific proof of her reasons for opposing changing Australia’s Marriage Act to allow same-sex couples to tie the knot. Faust, a US campaigner who was raised in a same-sex household, kicked off the debate when she claimed there had not been enough debate in the US about the harmful effects of children being raised by same-sex parents . Labor’s Sam Daystari immediately jumped on her comments and accused Faust, who runs a blog and Twitter account called @askthebigot, of having a

Homosexual marriage - hatred, bigots and other poor arguments

The campaign to redefine marriage has recently gained such momentum - with now three and soon four bills before the Commonwealth Parliament - that many think it is inevitable. This can leave those with misgivings feeling that they are already losers in a done deal. Some think it is the inexorable progress of liberty and equality - which leaves the doubters on "the wrong side of history." In this context supporters of classical marriage are presumed to have no real arguments to offer. So here I want to offer some reasons - not decrees from on high or from the past, not expressions of hatred or prejudice - but reasons I hope anyone can understand. I also hope these reasons prove persuasive and helpful in proclaiming and witnessing to true marriage among families, friends and colleagues. Regardless, I hope this will help explain why Australian law has always held, and many people still hold, that marriage is for people of opposite sex. I will examine five common slogans i

The gay agenda will change our culture dramatically

The Most Rev. Anthony Fisher , O.P., Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney , delivered the   Acton Lecture on Religion and Freedom   at the Centre for Independent Studies on Wednesday, 14 October 2015. The year is 2025 - nine years after a plebiscite narrowly approved same-sex "marriage" and Parliament amended the   Marriage Act   and many other laws to remove all references to "a man and a woman," "husband and wife" and "mother and father." After an initial flurry of rather colourful same-sex "weddings," numbers have now plateaued to only a few hundred each year. Sociologists debate the long-term effects on public understandings of marriage and family. Certainly there have been political ramifications: no major party allows dissenters on this issue; this caused some significant haemorrhaging from Parliament before the 2019 election; even for most "independents," going against "the tide of hist
