James Martin’s Vatican appointment will only embolden LGBT activists

Image
Fr. James Martin , SJ, editor-at-large for the Jesuit magazine  America , has made the headlines twice this past week.   First,  top Vatican and US church officials backed his forthcoming gay-friendly book ,  Building A Bridge: How the Catholic Church and the LGBT Community Can Enter into a Relationship of Respect, Compassion, and Sensitivity . Then in an unforeseen move, the  Vatican named Fr. Martin as a communications consultant  to the Holy See’s  Secretariat for Communications .   Several months preceding all this, Fr. Martin received an award from the LGBT group, New Ways Ministry , a group previously condemned for representing itself as a Catholic organization.  His  acceptance speech  became the broad outline for his new book.  In fact, the name of the award he received is,  New Ways Ministry’s Bridge Building Award . Catholic dissident, Sister Jeannine Gramick , co-founder of New Ways Ministry, leant her endorsement: “Father Martin shows how the Rosary and the

Dilution of Doctrine for divorce - why not gays - says Kaine?

Kaine ’s argument  - If relationships the church once condemned as adultery are no longer a major, soul-threatening sin, then why should a committed same-sex relationship be any different? If the church makes post-sexual revolution allowances for straight couples, shouldn’t it make the same ones for people who aren’t even attracted to the opposite sex? Theological error by Kaine - First there are some church denominations that are liberal and all their doctrine changes constantly....with the cultural wind! They are irrelevant to this discussion. But conservative bible adherent denominations acknowledge people's sin and repentance from that sin.  But that does not imply that the sin - eg: divorce, or homosexual sinful are no longer a sin. According to the words of Jesus, divorce and remarriage on the wrong grounds will always be a sin.  Kaine's concept of allowance means - unbiblical divorce and remarriage is no longer a sin in the Catholic church because the Pope

English: Seal of the President of Nigeria Category:National symbols of Nigeria (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) ABUJA, Nigeria -- The Catholic Bishops of Nigeria have called for the Church to be “more courageous and consistent in Pro-Life activities in favour of human life, marriage and the family as counter-cultural antidotes to anti-life ideologies and practices.” The call came in a communiqué issued following an international pro-life march and conference organized by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria and held in Abuja from June 5-7. “The relentless promotion by some international organizations of ‘sexual and reproductive rights’, a euphemism for abortion, is deceptive and unacceptable,” the communiqué asserts. The bishops demand that “legislation for abortion, which is the intentional killing of innocent babies in the womb, be denounced and abrogated,” and promise that they “remain resolved in our efforts to ensure that abortion is never legalized in our country.”

Nigerian bishops defend same-sex ‘marriage’ ban after critics claim it’s out of touch with Pope

ABUJA , Nigeria, March 25, 2014 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – The president of the Nigerian Catholic Bishops ’ Conference has made a strong defense of the bishops’ support for a bill banning same-sex “marriage” against critics who allege the bishops’ position is out of touch with Pope Francis. “It is a mischievous and faulty generalization to reason that because we resist same-sex ‘marriage’ we differ from our Pope who said, ‘If a person is gay and seeks God and has goodwill, who am I to judge?’" Archbishop Ignatius Ayau Kaigama of Jos said in his opening remarks at the bishops’ recent plenary meeting. Archbishop Kaigama "The position of the Catholic Church in Nigeria in respect of same sex union and other moral vices is in consonance with that of the universal Church and in conformity with the social teachings of the Church," Archbishop Kaigama said according to  Catholic News Service of Nigeria . “Our compassion for the weak, the marginalized and those who suff

The bill, which now moves to the lower house and will need the signature of Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan , establishes that the state only recognizes marriages between a man and a woman.  It imposes a 14-year sentence for same-gendered couples that attempt to wed and a 10-year sentence for those who witness or assist at a same-sex “wedding”. It also bans involvement in homosexual activist groups and public displays of affection by homosexual couples. “If there is any country that wants to stop giving aid because we won’t pass the bill on same sex marriage, that country can go ahead,” said Sen. David Mark, president of the upper house. “We are a sovereign nation and we have the right to decide for ourselves because no country can inte
