Same-Sex Marriage as a Civil Right — Are Wrongs Rights

Image
We should have seen it coming. Back in 1989 two young activists pushing for the normalization of homosexuality coauthored a book intended to serve as a political strategy manual and public relations guide for their movement.  In After the Ball: How America Will Conquer its Fear and Hatred of Gays in the 90s, authors Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen argued that efforts to normalize homosexuality and homosexual relationships would fail unless their movement shifted its argument to a demand for civil rights, rather than for moral acceptance.  Kirk and Madsen argued that homosexual activists and their allies should avoid talking about sex and sexuality. Instead, “the imagery of sex per se should be downplayed, and the issue of gay rights reduced, as far as possible, to an abstract social question.” Beyond Kirk and Madsen and their public relations strategy, an even more effective legal strategy was developed along the same lines. Legal theorists and litigators began to argue tha

CDC: Half of gay black men will get HIV

Image
WASHINGTON, D.C. , – In   a first-of-its-kind analysis , the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have concluded that one in two black men who are gay or bisexual will contract HIV. In an infographic released last week, one in six men who have sex with men ( MSM ) will contract HIV in their lifetimes, with half of black MSM likely to contract. Black men are the most likely racial and gender demographic to contract HIV, with a five-percent chance of contraction. White women are the least likely to contract the disease of the demographics examined – blacks, Hispanics, and whites of both genders – with one in 880 likely to contract. Women generally who inject drugs via needles were the second most likely demographic to contract HIV, behind MSM, with one in 23 likely to contract, while one in 36 men who inject drugs was likely to contract HIV. One in 241 heterosexual women was projected to contract HIV, and one in 473 heterosexual men. "As alarming as these lifetime risk

The Book of Gomorrah - Homosexual Priests destroying the moral authority of the church

Complete interview with   The Book of Gomorrah ’s translator Matthew Hoffman. LifeSiteNews:   Do you see movements or stirrings happening within the Church today that are similar to what St. Peter Damian was fighting against a thousand years ago? What are some examples? Hoffman:   The situation of the Catholic Church in the 11th century, when Damian lived, resembles our own time in some disturbing ways. The priesthood back then had been infiltrated by a large number of morally lax men who had little respect for sexual morality, including homosexuals who made “prostitutes” out of their “spiritual sons,” in the words of Damian. Unlike today, however, many priests were openly living in immoral unions with concubines or illicit wives, and did little to hide other scandalous personal behavior. This behavior even included some popes, who set a bad example for the rest of the Church. Damian reminded Pope Leo IX of the traditional law that was to be applied to priests who were c

That revolution has happened, a

Slavery and Homosexual arguments don't work with LGBT arguments

English: Slaves Waiting for Sale - Richmond, Virginia. Oil, 20¾ x 31½ inches. Painted upon the sketch of 1853 (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Matthew Vines, another proponent of gay marriage and author of   God and the Gay Christian , writes, “In the 19th century , experience played a key role in compelling Christians to rethink another traditional—and supposedly biblical—belief. This time, the issue was slavery” (15).  Vines claims that Christians have made pivotal decisions based on the principle of good fruit and bad fruit. For example, the early church decided to include Gentiles . Likewise, 19th-century Christian abolitionists “appealed to conscience based on the destructive consequences of slavery. A bad tree produces bad fruit” (15). So, for Vines,  the church was basically supportive of slavery throughout history until the 19th century, when “experience” brought about a reinterpretation of Scripture.  But is this a fair historical account? Most importantly, does it do jus

Love is love - as three gay men now women marry each other?

Image
"Love is love, after all." That's the rationale offered by one of three gay men who were all married to each other on Valentine's Day in Thailand . You can read the story here. And — least people scoff and think that this is happening a world away — you can read about Massachusetts' first lesbian "throuple" and their anticipated first child here. Love is love, the left is fond of saying. When you get right down to it, that is really the only rationale offered for redefining marriage — they say that redefining marriage is just about allowing people who love each other to come together and celebrate their love. Disallowing that is discrimination against those who simply love differently. Except it's not. Marriage is so much more than merely a relationship of love. Marriage is an institution that serves to bind the complementary halves of humanity — male and female — in a publicly declared relationship that is designed to be stable, permanent, exc

Is disapproving of homosexuality and homosexual marriage spreading hate?

Image
Portal of the Church of Pilgrims, in Washington, DC, with a LGBT banner. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Is disapproving of homosexuality and homosexual marriage spreading hate?  Teaching that homosexuality is a  sin  is not spreading hate anymore than teaching that lying is a sin is spreading hate. Christians can disapprove of a behavior and still be civil and loving to the ones with whom we disagree. According to the  Bible , Christians are to live in peace with everyone as much as possible (Rom. 12:18); but we are not to compromise the word of God and participate in those things to which the Scriptures speak against.  Furthermore, when we call homosexuality a sin, we are saying that it violates the Word of God.  It is breaking the law of God and is therefore wrong.  But we Christians meet sinners every day, and we treat them lovingly.  This is what the New Testament tells us.  Jesus said, “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
