Faith protections doomed under YES to Homosexual Marriage

Image
John Howard is warning that broad protections for religious freedoms are unlikely to pass the Senate if the Yes vote wins, following Labor’s decision to back a same-sex marriage bill proposed by West Australian Liberal senator Dean Smith . The former prime minister — a key campaigner against gay marriage — argued the decision by Labor to lock in behind Senator Smith’s bill was an “added reason” for Australians to vote No in the $122 million postal survey. Mr Howard told The Australian the protections offered in Senator Smith’s bill provided only the “bare minimum” in terms of religious protections, saying a Yes outcome could force faith-based schools, charities and social-service providers to close or change the way they operate. “My position has been clear all along that I think the government should have spelt out what it had in mind,” Mr Howard said. “If the government continues to take the stance they’ll just facilitate a private member’s bill, it’s difficult to see a private

Will mandatory “Safe Schools” programs follow the introduction of same-sex marriage?

Image
The Conversation  article today was one by Emeritus Professor Bill Louden, “ FactCheck: will Safe Schools be ‘mandatory’ if  same-sex  marriage is legalised? ”  (The Conversation , Oct 2, 2017). This was in response to a claim made on advertising issued by the Australian Conservatives: If same-sex marriage is legalised, Safe Schools and others like it will be mandatory in schools. It is worth noting, of course, that Professor Louden, as the Conversation makes clear: was previously on the board of the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA). In 2016, Bill Louden was commissioned by Education Minister Simon Birmingham to conduct an independent review into the appropriateness and efficacy of the Safe Schools Coalition Australia program resource. The result of Professor Louden’s previous, very quick, review was that the Turnbull Government withdrew some of its support for the “Safe Schools” program, although not immediately and not completel

Will churches ALWAYS be free to decline to marry homosexuals? States could say NO!

Image
The first article, by Robyn J Whitaker, “ If Australia says ‘yes’, churches are still free to say ‘no’ to marrying  same-sex  couples ” ( The Conversation ,  Oct 2 , 2017), reassures churches that they currently enjoy freedom to decline to marry those who ask to be married by them, and that this will continue. The article is a fair summary of the current law- under the  Marriage Act  1961 (Cth),  s 47(a) relevantly provides: Nothing in this Part (a) imposes an obligation on an authorised celebrant, being a minister of religion, to solemnise any marriage… This provisions protects all ministers of religion (even those from denominations not “proclaimed” under s 26 of the Act) from being required, purely by virtue of the authority that they may have under Part IV of the  Marriage Act  (“this Part” referred to in s 47) ,  to solemnise a marriage that is contrary to their religious beliefs. However, there are two important qualifications that ought to have been provided b

Sydney 's recent homosexual marriage equality rally was a flurry of signs and love as 10,000 people marched down Oxford Street in favor of the 'yes' immoral homosexual marriage vote.  But one clearly confused boy stood out from the crowd with a disco of rainbow-colored hair and a sign it has now gone viral online on the LGBT circuit. Marching alongside his family, 12-year-old Max Townes held up a placard with the words 'All I want is the right to marry Chris Hemsworth . You've got five years until I'm 18, Australia ! You too Chris!' His mother Megan Townes posted the photo to her Twitter account.  Max, decided to draw a picture of himself on the piece of cardboard and asked for help from his mother to colour it in and write the correct wording.  Most Australians are concerned that LGBT ideology is being passed onto children, too young to understand any ramifications of these lifestyle choices. Far from heart-warming as some LGBT radicals hav

Sydney mayor vows to make all gay weddings FREE -another politician another gimmic

Image
A Sydney mayor has vowed to make all gay weddings free if same-sex marriage is legalised by the upcoming vote. Labor's Darcy Byrne, who has just been appointed leader of Inner West Council , wants to give same-sex couples the opportunity to use public halls and community centres to house their nuptials for the first 100 days after the unions are legalised. The inner-west has one of the largest LGBTQI communities in Australia and Byrne is hoping the move will lead the charge for civil rights.  But others have responded negatively :  "When will politicians learn that changing traditional marriage is not about scoring points in popularity, offering free incentives to lead the way? Will the council also provide free facilities for normal heterosexual marriages, or is this reverse discrimination and a gimmick? Will facilities be offered free for Religious organization for 100 days?"

Homosexual Activist Admits True Purpose of Battle is to Destroy Marriage

Image
Even knowing that there are radicals in all movements, doesn’t  lessen the startling admission recently by lesbian journalist  Masha Gessen .  On a radio show she actually admits that homosexual activists are lying about their radical political agenda .   She says that they don’t want to access the institution of marriage; they want to radically redefine and eventually eliminate it.  Here is what she recently said on a radio interview:  “It’s a no-brainer that (homosexual activists) should have the right to marry, but I also think equally that it’s a no-brainer that the institution of marriage should not exist. …(F)ighting for gay marriage generally involves lying about what we are going to do with marriage when we get there — because we lie that the institution of marriage is not going to change, and that is a lie.  The institution of marriage is going to change, and it should change. And again, I don’t think it should exist. And I don’t like taking part in creating fic

Politician 'guarantee' legalising same-sex marriage will lead to polygamous relationships

Image
A former Queensland minister has revealed he will vote 'No' on the same-sex marriage postal plebiscite because he believes it will lead to other types of relationships wanting the same rights. Bill O'Chee , a past Nationals MP says legalising same-sex marriage will result in people involved in polygamous arrangements demanding they are recognised in Australia because they will argue it is of the same oppressive mentality. 'I cannot see how you can defeat somebody saying if you have gay marriage why cant we have polygamous marriage,' Mr O'Chee told Daily Mail Australia. Mr O'Chee claims he is educated to speak on the topic because his Chinese grandfather had two wives. His grandfather was unable to bring both women legally into the country as his partner, and it wasn't until his Australian resident wife died that the second woman could immigrate. 'I think my grandfather was selfish and what he did was unfair. They were creating a situation w

The homosexual lies of Irish Senator Jerry Buttimer

Image
The Melbourne AGE ran an article based on an interview from an Irish Senator seeking to dismiss 'religious freedom' concerns about homosexual marriage. But the Senator simply ignited the concern bu his lying.  In 2015 Ireland voted with a majority of 62 per cent for marriage equality, the first country in the world to make this social change by popular vote. Since then, a lot of gay people have gotten married. "The world hasn't ended, the sky didn't fall down, the sun still shines, the moon is still in the sky and the world continues," Buttimer says. "It's only been a positive, in terms of equality and opportunity for all people. People are going to registry offices, humanist ceremonies are taking place across the country. "They're joining in celebrations, there's dancing at the crossroads, there's dancing in weddings, there's feasting and banqueting and there's love."What happens? Two people get married and the w

Why would you throw a kid into the crosshairs of the homosexual marriage debate?

Image
Why would you throw a kid into the crosshairs of the homosexual marriage debate?   Bill Shorten  (Labor Leader) brings boy with two mothers to parliament to give speech to justify  gay marriage - but should he be using children to prove his point? Shorten a former union leader, only came to fame when he inserted himself on TV during a mining disaster. He is a dominant homosexual marriage supporter and has utter contempt for anybody who opposes immoral homosexual marriage.  Bill Shorten has used a young boy in his personal campaign for homosexual marriage. The Labor Leader paraded the boy with two mums outside Parliament House.  The boy urged people to 'vote yes' to same-sex marriage in the postal survey. Mr Shorten was slammed online for 'manipulating a child for political gains' 'Using a child to campaign is disgusting. How low can you stoop,' a critic said. Labor leader Bill Shorten has divided his own colleagues, and the nation by parading a boy w

Free speech and vilification in the marriage law postal survey

Image
Australia is involved in a debate about whether same sex marriage should be introduced. The question is being put to the electors in the form of a voluntary postal survey, the  question  in which is simply: “Should the law be changed to allow same sex couples to marry?” The original intention of the current Government had been to put this question to the people of Australia in a compulsory plebiscite. This option being defeated twice in Parliament, the postal survey has been designed to be run without explicit authorising legislation . However, once it was decided that the survey would proceed, concerns were expressed that the debate might contain misleading and deceptive advertising, which would usually have been dealt with under the electoral laws (but since the survey was not being run under those laws, no such protections applied for the survey.) In addition, concerns were expressed about hateful and harmful speech on both side of the debate. In response to these co
