Why draw a line with Gay Marriage?

Image
Columnist E.J. Dionne of The Washington Post may sometimes be infuriating, but he is never unintelligent. After graduating from Harvard, Dionne was named a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford where he earned a doctorate in sociology. He is always thoughtful, analytical, and polite. He is decidedly liberal when comes to both politics and theology, but he also seems to find conservatives to be interesting, if sometimes downright dangerous. Even more recently, he seems to find conservative Christians to be perplexing. In a column published Sunday, Dionne asks about our opposition to same-sex marriage: “Why draw the line here?” It’s a fair question. Dionne, a practicing Catholic, as they say, wonders aloud why many of us cannot just acknowledge same-sex marriage and move on. Dionne goes further and argues that he does not see conservative Christians reacting with the same “ferocious response” to divorce or adultery. He wants to know why we are demanding exemptions from anti-discrimination laws and po

British Christian Actress Fired Over Biblical Beliefs May Face $414,000 In Legal Fees

Image
British actress Seyi Omooba is facing massive legal fees after she sued the theater and her former agency for what was seen as homophobic Facebook posts. The day after the Christian was cast in the production of The Color Purple, the emergence of an old Facebook post in which she quoted the Bible was discovered. In a post from September 2014, Omooba stated that Christians should take a stand against homosexuality. “It is clearly evident in I Corinthians vi, 9-11 what the Bible says on this matter,” she stated back in 2014. “I do not believe you can be born gay, and I do not believe homosexual practice is right.” With her career in ruins, the 25-year-old is sued, saying she was a victim of religious discrimination. The actress was also no longer even invited to auditions. However, she has been unsuccessful in her case and now faces a massive legal bill. The judges with the Employment Tribunal London who heard Seyi Omooba’s case said her claims for discrimination, breach of contract, and

Bethany Christian Services - now just services

Image
“Bethany,” refers here to Bethany Christian Services (BCS), which had been one of the nation’s largest evangelical agencies involved in adoption and foster care. The “pivot,” points to its policies regarding LGBTQ issues. BCS recently announced that it would now place children in same-sex households and other families identified as LGBTQ. This can only be described as a watershed pivot—a pivot away from orthodox biblical Christianity and towards the aims of the sexual revolution and its new morality. CHRIS PALUSKY LGBT JUSTIFICATION FALLS SORT OF SCRIPTURE BETHANY CHRISTIAN SERVICES NOW JUST SERVICES NEITHER BETHANY NOR CHRISTIAN COURTESY NATE BOLT The phrase, “Bethany pivoted,” is attributed to Robin Fretwell Wilson, a professor of law at the University of Illinois at Champaign. Professor Wilson previously advised Utah lawmakers on the bill known as the Fairness for All Act. Make no mistake: This is exactly the pivot that is increasingly demanded by the moral revolutionaries. They wil

Pope promotes what the Bible prohibits

Image
In the documentary, which premiered in Rome today, Pope Francis has made his most clear statements contradicting Catholic Church teaching by calling for homosexual civil unions to be legalized . Speaking of homosexual civil unions, he said “What we have to create is a civil union law. That way they are legally covered. I stood up for that.”  The film Francesco is a fawning and dramatic treatment of Pope Francis, painting the pontiff as a liberator of humanity pushing on many of the hot-button issues. Pope promotes what the Bible prohibits It is not the first time Pope Francis has contravened Church teaching in the matter of homosexuality, but it is one of his clearest statements contravening established Church teaching. In 2003, in a document by then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (Pope Benedict XVI) and approved and ordered published by Pope St. John Paul II, the Church issued specific guidance on the need to reject homosexual civil union proposals.  The document called “Considerations reg

New Zealand Labour gay over-representation

Image
New Zealand Labour has returned to government across the Tasman Sea, massively increasing its number of seats in Wellington.  Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern will return with 64 seats in the Lower House, up 18 from the last election in 2017. New Zealand Greens, Māori Party, and ACT New Zealand also won seats from the Conservatives and nationalist party New Zealand First, who were wiped out of parliament at the polls. The election also brought a record number of visible LGBTQ+ MPs to the nation’s Parliament, with 11 queer politicians ready to represent their electorates.  The makeup means 9% of elected MPs in New Zealand identify as LGBTQ+, overtaking the UK’s record-setting 7%. All of these MPs are sitting for Labour or the Greens.  The Greens will return as Labour’s confidence and supply partner, increasing their representation in Parliament from eight seats to ten. NZ politics will now be driven by immoral gay lies and gay ideology.  It is a destructive mix and poor representation of t

Lotterywest CEO, Susan Hunt refuses to help the destitute

Image
Former Australian tennis champion, Reverend Margaret Court is under attack again for her religious moral views. Her application for funding to assist in the purchase of a new freezer truck to distribute food to the poor was recently turned down because of her Bible-based views on marriage and gender. Victory Life Centre is a church in Perth, Western Australia that was founded by Rev. Margaret Court in 1995. Its large charity arm, Victory Life Community Services, provides food and assistance to the needy in the Perth area.  Their application to Lotterywest, a funding organization with the responsibility of distributing grant money to worthy causes, was turned down by a unanimous decision of that organization’s Board, who cited Lotterywest’s “commitment to equality and inclusion” as the reason for their decision. Apparently their “commitment to equality and inclusion” doesn’t include tolerance of Christian beliefs. This type of behavior is what we see in North Korea and China. Susan Hunt

Justice Thomas -Reminder About Religious Freedom against gay Agenda

Image
This week, Justice Clarence Thomas reminded us of this important truth: People of faith should be able to live according to their beliefs without fear of government punishment. This reminder came in Thomas’s concurrence to a denial for certiorari in a case called Davis v. Ermold. The case involved a county clerk in Kentucky, Kim Davis, who declined to issue a marriage certificate to a same-sex couple after the Obergefell v. Hodges decision nationalized same-sex marriage. While Thomas didn’t think the questions of the case were clear enough to warrant the Court’s hearing, he did think that it brought up this important reminder for all Americans. After the Obergefell decision, many were concerned that people of faith—such as Christians, Muslims, and Orthodox Jews—who believe that marriage is a union of one man and one woman would have their First Amendment rights compromised. Some brushed off this concern. But, as Justice Thomas notes, it turned out to be well warranted. “Since Obergefel

Amy Coney Barrett, ‘Sexual Preference,’ And The Rewriting Of A Dictionary

Image
During her interaction with California Senator Diane Feinstein on Tuesday, Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett used the forbidden term “sexual preference” with reference to LGBT sexuality. Not only did this cause an instant Internet firestorm, but it apparently led to an instant adjustment in a major online dictionary. The term is now officially “offensive” when used in the sense of “orientation.” To give the background, Feinstein asked Barrett if she would “vote to roll back hard-fought freedoms and protections for the LGBT community.” Barrett replied, “I have no agenda. I do want to be clear that I have never discriminated on the basis of sexual preference and would not discriminate on the basis of sexual preference.” That was a crystal-clear answer. She would not discriminate against the LGBT community based on sexual preference. That was the legal question at hand. But that was not got the attention of other senators, including Hawaii Senator Mazie Hirono. She argued that “sex

Democrat loses it over Barrett’s use of the term ‘sexual preference’

Image
ANOTHER OFFENSIVE DEMOCRAT Hawaii’s Democratic Sen. Mazie Hirono raised eyebrows during Tuesday’s confirmation hearing for Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court, with a particular line of attack focusing on Barrett’s earlier use of the term “sexual preference” to reference homosexuality. “Even though you did not give a direct answer” on the Supreme Court’s Obergefell ruling (which made same-sex “marriage” the law of the land), Hirono said, “I think your response did speak volumes.” “Not once but twice you used the term ‘sexual preference’ to describe those in the LGBTQ community,” she went on. “And let me make clear: ‘sexual preference’ is an offensive and outdated term. It is used by anti-LGBTQ activists to suggest that sexual orientation is a choice. It is not. Sexual orientation is a key part of a person’s identity. That sexual orientation is both a normal expression of human sexuality and immutable was a key part of the majority’s opinion in Obergefell, whi

Why Are Ex-Gays Such A Threat?

Image
What is it that makes the very existence of ex-gays so dangerous? And why is there a concerted, worldwide effort to block professional counseling for those with unwanted same-sex attractions? Before you think I’m exaggerating, consider the following examples. In England, Barclays Bank announced it was closing the account of a Christian charity after protest from LGBTQ activists. The charity, Core Issues Trust (CIT), was accused of practicing “conversion therapy.” CIT said that “Barclays informed them that their bank account will be terminated by September. CIT claimed that the move came after pressure from an LGBT social media campaign that targetted the group for allegedly practising ‘conversion therapy’.” On the social media front, it is now reported that, “Facebook and its photo platform Instagram are banning any content advertising or promoting treatment to overcome unwanted same-sex attraction.” According to Facebook spokeswoman Stephanie Otway, “This is a global poli

Supreme Court: Funeral Home Violated Law Firing Gay, Transgender Workers

Image
Americans should be able to rely on what the law says. Unfortunately, it seems the U.S. Supreme Court does not agree. Today, the Supreme Court ruled against our client Harris Funeral Homes. In doing so, the Court has delivered a truly troubling decision: Unelected officials and courts can effectively rewrite laws—forcing Americans to guess what the law means—including something as fundamental as the meaning of “sex.” Alliance Defending Freedom has represented Harris Funeral Homes since 2013. That year, a male funeral director expressed the intent to begin dressing and presenting as a woman at work while interacting with grieving families. This funeral director had worked at Harris Funeral Homes for nearly six years and agreed to abide by the sex-specific dress code throughout that time. Harris Funeral Homes have professional conduct and dress codes to ensure that the grieving families it serves can focus on healing and not on the funeral home or its employees. Such policies
