Chick-fil-A flaps white flag to gay zealots

Image
It was a culture-war white flag. Chick-fil-A, the Christian-led fried chicken fast-food chain that had become a cause célebré among conservatives for its “family values” — including donations to anti-LGBTQ groups like the Salvation Army — announced this week that it would no longer be making donations to the Salvation Army or the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, another faith-based group often under fire for its anti-LGBT stance. Conservatives were quick to throw Chick-fil-A under the bus. "The left will never be satisfied," Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro told Fox News. "Once you give an inch to the left with regard to your fundamental principles, the left will never stop… They're going to lose a lot of supporters on the right who feel like they surrendered to nasty, censorious cancel culture." Meanwhile, Orthodox Christian writer (and American Conservative blogger) Rod Dreher angrily tweeted, “Just gave ten bucks to Salvation Army bell ringer beca

‘Bastion of Hate’ Professors Demand KU Evict Chick-fil-A

Image
Nothing triggers a leftist faster than a Chick-fil-A sandwich. That’s actually a sentence I lifted from my forthcoming book, “Culture Jihad: How to Stop the Left From Killing a Nation.” And the most recent triggering happened at the University of Kansas where a number of aggrieved faculty members are demanding that a Chick-fil-A franchise be removed from campus. “A bastion of bigotry,” the Sexuality & Gender Diversity Faculty and Staff Council wrote in a two-page letter to university leaders. “The culture of Chick-fil-A fosters hate and discrimination on multiple levels,” they declared. “In short, Chick-fil-A on KU’s campus stands in direct contrast to the university’s mission of fostering a multicultural, inclusive environment.” For the sake of full disclosure, I’m writing this column while eating Chick-fil-A nuggets and a delicious bowl of their new macaroni and cheese. Chick-fil-A and LGBT Zealots

The Trump administration is investigating two airports for possible religious discrimination against the Christian-owned Chick-fil-A after the chicken franchise was denied contracts. LGBT advocates hate the fact that the owner is a Christian who support Biblical marriage and not fake homosexual marriage. Liberals are livid and have violated religious discrimination laws. On Friday, the Department of Transportation (DOT) announced that it is looking into airport bans of Chick-fil-A.  “The Department has received complaints alleging discrimination by two airport operators against a private company due to the expression of the owner’s religious beliefs,” DOT said in a statement. “FAA’s Office of Civil Rights has notified the San Antonio International Airport (SAT) and Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF) that it has opened investigations into these complaints,” it added. Federal regulations prohibit airports from excluding persons on the basis of religion from partici

LGBTQ Caucus Kills ‘Save Chick-Fil-A’ Bill in Texas

Image
The newly formed LGBTQ Caucus killed a religious freedom bill in the Texas House of Representatives on Thursday, which was crafted in response to the San Antonio City Council banning Chick-fil-A from its International Airport over “anti-LGBTQ behavior.” Republican Texas state Rep. Michael Krause sponsored the “Save Chick-fil-A” bill (or House Bill 3172 ) to protect “religious beliefs and moral convictions, including beliefs and convictions regarding marriage.” The legislation would have “prohibited adverse actions by government” based on support or membership of religious organizations. Democratic state Rep. Julie Johnson, one of the five members on the LGBTQ Caucus, used a parliamentary action to delay, then ultimately kill the bill. “Bills like this are hurtful. They cause pain,” Johnson told CNN Friday. “We can’t allow religion to be a cover for discrimination.” Krause defended the legislation in April, stating that “it protects Ben & Jerry’s as much as it protects Chick-fi

Anti-Christian Bigots Continue Their War on Chick-Fil-A

Image
A second airport has now decided to ban Chick-fil-A because of “anti-LGBTQ rhetoric.”  First , it was the San Antonio airport.  Now , the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. In reality, the reason for the ban is Chick-fil-A is owned by Bible-believing Christians who donate money to fine Christian ministries. It’s that simple. The trouble began in 2012 when Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy  affirmed  that marriage was the union of a man and a woman. In his words, he was “guilty as charged” for believing in affirming in traditional marriage. The reaction, of course, was swift and severe: How dare he? Bigot! Homophobe! Hater! America must boycott this horrible place! The Hateful Remarks Read for yourself Cathy’s hateful remarks (but brace yourself first; these are really wicked): We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family owned business, a family led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks

University blacklists Chick-Fil-A over Christian ‘corporate values’

Image
Chick-Fil-A  continues to thrive  across the country, but liberals in high places remain bent on punishing it for refusing to embrace same-sex “marriage.” Campus Reform   reports  that the popular chicken chain won a student survey of new meal options to bring to campus at private Rider University in New Jersey recently, but the powers-that-be dashed the student body’s hopes with an email claiming that the company’s “corporate values have not sufficiently progressed enough to align with those of Rider.” The Associated Press (AP)  adds  that the school cited the “company's record widely perceived to be in opposition to the LGBTQ community,” and claimed that while excluding the option of Chick-Fil-A could be seen as a “form of exclusion,” administrators believe it’s acting “faithful to our values of inclusion.” “It is important to me and to the University that all voices are heard,” Rider Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs Jan Friedman-Krupnick said in a stateme

Pittsburgh wants to revoke Chick-fil-A’s sponsorship of kids event over Christian marriage views

Image
America’s most successful Christian food chain may be driven out of a children’s community event in Pittsburgh over the owners’ Christian-based view of marriage and homosexuality if the Pittsburgh City Council has its way. The Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Kids Marathon is a one-mile run slated for May 2019. The event is for children and their families participating in the annual DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon. It’s affiliated with the Kids of STEEL physical activity and nutrition program. All nine members of the Pittsburgh City Council have a problem with Chick-fil-A’s sponsorship of the event, however, and have signed a letter pressuring marathon organizers to drop the company, The Blaze reports . “The leadership of Chick-Fil-A has openly and passionately promulgated hateful beliefs against the LGBTQIA+ community,” the letter reads . “Additionally, the company has financed organizations staunchly opposed to same-sex marriage and non-discrimination laws and other groups that eq

Pro-marriage fast food chain Chick-fil-A is coming to Toronto. Liberals are having a meltdown

Image
When I read that the fried chicken giant Chick-fil-A was planning to open several restaurants in Toronto next year (and a dozen across Canada over the next several years), I texted my friend: “Prediction: some activist is going to make a stink about Chick-fil-A.” After all, when the famous chicken chain moved into New York City earlier this year, the New Yorker noted that Chick-fil-A’s arrival was “creepy” because of its “pervasive Christian traditionalism.” Even the fact that Chick-fil-A remains closed on Sunday attracted the writer’s ire. And sure enough, so it was. Businesses owned by Christians who support Christian causes were once common (and still are, some enterprising journalist is sure to discover soon), but now the mere mention of the restaurant chain triggers tortured headlines like this one , in the Globe and Mail: “Controversial U.S. fast-food chain Chick-fil-A, whose owners criticize gay marriage, expanding to Toronto.” Now, what do you think the Globe wants you to k

Liberal columnist: New Yorkers should boycott Chick-fil-A because it’s ‘creepy’ and Christian

Image
In a piece that quickly went viral on social media for its blatant disdain of anything remotely Christian , a New Yorker columnist called on Manhattan residents to resist Chick-fil-A ’s “creepy infiltration” of the city. Dan Piepenbring’s Friday article is a reaction to the popular Christian restaurant chain opening a fourth location in the area last month, with plans to open up to a dozen more. He describes New Yorkers as overwhelmingly embracing Chick-fil-A, with its latest location seeing customers line up “almost to the end of the block” and another location estimating that it sells one sandwich every six seconds. This, Piepenbring writes, comes despite the fact that the chain “does not quite belong here.” Chief among its allegedly out-of-place qualities is Chick-fil-A’s “pervasive Christian traditionalism.” Its locations don’t open on Sundays, its headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia displays religious imagery such as Bible verses and a Jesus statue, and it lists “to glorif

‘Catholic’ college bans Chick-fil-A over homosexual students’ complaints

Chick-Fil-A's signature chicken sandwich (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Jesuit-run  Fordham University  has buckled to protests led by an LGBTQ student group and will not allow Chick-fil-A to do business at a campus eatery due to past comments by the chicken fast-food company’s CEO supporting natural marriage. Even though representatives of the Christian-oriented Chick-fil-A reportedly went so far as to offer to partner with homosexual student group “Rainbow Alliance” to help them get established on the Catholic college campus, they were rejected. “Following pushback from clubs and independent students over LGBTQ issues and menu offerings, the university has opted to decline an Aramark proposal to install a Chick-fil-A in the Ram Café,” reported the  Fordham Observer . The  Rainbow Alliance  was joined by three other Fordham student groups in fighting to keep Chick-fil-A off Fordham’s campus: United Student Government, Commuter Students Association, and the Residence Hall

Students at Catholic college protest planned Chick-fil-A over founder’s Christian view of marriage

Some college students at Pittsburgh’s Duquesne University are claiming, like Chicken Little , that the sky is falling. Sadly, given these crazy times, that’s no longer really news. We’ve seen a steady stream of reports about scholars being driven off campus by mobs of triggered students, of speakers being disinvited or losing announced awards because of their Judeo- Christian beliefs —all in the name of tolerance, diversity, and “safe spaces”! Truly, though, the kerfuffle at Duquesne shows what we’re up against. In March the university announced that the popular fast food chain Chick-fil-A would be opening in the Catholic school’s main food court. Instead of cheers for a company that donates generously to charity and makes a great chicken sandwich, the decision brought jeers from some students, who claimed this would put their “safe place … at risk.” One leader of a gay student group said Chick-fil-A has “a questionable history on civil rights and human rights.” A petition
