MSNBC host’s backpedaling on gay comments shows we’re living in Bizarro-World

After Democratic Senator Cory Booker relentlessly grilled then-candidate for Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on his views of gay marriage , conservative commentator Ben Shapiro mockingly imagined future questions that could be leveled at supporters of traditional marriage: "To verify your tolerance, I now ask that you publicly watch 'Brokeback Mountain' without making a face and that you cry at the end, sir!" I miss the days when parody was parody and didn't immediately occur in reality after the joke was made. MSNBC 's Joy Reid, a popular TV host , has come under fire for previous comments on an old blog about gay marriage and people she suspected of being gay, with a number of LGBT activists compiling her worst offences against "the community" and tweeting them out. Those comments included Reid's musings on the gayness or lack thereof of various public figures, as well as an apparently "transphobic" comment that involved her ac

WASHINGTON , November 29, 2011 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - As  polls show  Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul   tied for first place  in Iowa , media outlets have struggled to understand his distinctive stance on the issues, including same-sex “marriage.” Sheldon Alberts of Canada ’s National Post , for example,  wrote Monday  that “Paul believes: Gays should be allowed to marry.” Ron Paul Photo: Steve Jalsevac/ LifeSiteNews The truth is more complex…and perhaps confusing. Even though people on both sides of the issue deny it, it is increasingly obvious that homosexuality is dominating a new place on the scale of American political life. Even in conservative circles, prominent voices – some of whom I call friends, all of whom I respect – continually find themselves divided on not only the issue, but also how people of conscience respond to it. In recent weeks, David Horowitz , president of the Center for the Study of Popular Culture, and Robert Knight of Concerned Women for America , have been "duking it out" on the issue of whether or not prominent faith-bas Image via Wikipedia ed conservatives ( Gary Bauer , Paul Weyrich, Sandy Rios , et al.) should have confronted RNC Chairman Marc Racicot about his meetings with the Human Rights Campaign and Log Cabin Republicans . I have also had some recent spirited discussions with everyday people, fellow pundits, and talk-show types, among them Hugh Hewitt, Ann Coulter and Dennis Prager, who also
