Australia: Politician stands by decision to call for same-sex marriage plebiscite in Alliance Defending Freedom address

Image
The ABC Australia  (the Australian Broadcasting Network) is reporting that "Former prime minister Tony Abbott has stood by his decision to call for a plebiscite on same-sex marriage , despite calling the potential change a massive ask". Mr Abbott said whatever the result of the public vote, the subsequent action of the Government would have "authority". He said the decision should be made by the whole people, not just the Parliament . "This is the best way to decide something that's so important but so personal: it's to let the people decide. The decision, whichever way it goes, will have their authority." Mr Abbott made the comments during an address to the US -based Alliance Defending Freedom ( ADF ), which is strongly opposed to same-sex marriage. The "pro-family member of parliament" cited the 17 countries that adopted same-sex marriage, saying more than 175 countries retained the traditional definition. "I know that numbers

Here is the faulty theological argument - God celebrate LGBT marriage?

It seems like a nice cordial friendly piece which seeks to be open and friendly but at the cost of biblical truth. He has presented his flawed argument seeking to sound biblical, Christian and righteous. But in reality, it is a false charade of half truth and outright lies. For example read the quote below, and see where this is coming from. "LGBT Christians do not want to be "included" on the basis that their sinful relationships are overlooked by a merciful God , but rather that their relationships can themselves be  sacramental  - visible signs of the divine love." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ THIS IS THE ARTICLE BELOW While the Primates were ensconced in the precincts of Canterbury Cathedral , a fascinating

Australia: Homosexuality and their new morality

Image
A new censorship has arisen which threatens the right of individuals and groups to dissent from the new morality. Oppose abortion? Unthinkable. Suggest that people who aren't born with wombs but who want to call themselves 'women' aren't actually women? Disgusting. Argue dispassionately that the definition of marriage is between a man and a woman? You should be ashamed of yourself. And so we have former PM Tony Abbott being invited to speak to America's Alliance Defending Freedom , which is, to describe it in its own terms, "an alliance-building legal ministry that advocates for the right of people to freely live out their faith", or, to describe it in the terms of the Australian media, a " gay-hate group " - and copping a barrage of outrage. I have found nothing in the ADF literature which could be fairly characterised as "gay hate". What you have to remember is that the American habit of fighting ideological battles through the

US Episcopal Church – badge of honor to support LGBT marriage and rejection by UK Anglicans and God.

After 13 years of rancor over conflicting views on homosexuality, the archbishops of the Anglican Communion have voted to impose sanctions for three years on the Episcopal Church , the American branch of the Communion, for its decision last summer to allow clergy to perform   same-sex marriages , church officials said. News of the archbishops’ decision to discipline the American church leaked out near the end of a weeklong meeting in England called by the Most Rev. Justin Welby , the archbishop of Canterbury . He had summoned the archbishops to Canterbury in an effort to break the bitter impasse that has divided the Anglican Communion since the Episcopal Church consecrated an   openly gay bishop   in New Hampshire in 2003. The sanctions — essentially limiting participation in Anglican Communion affairs — do not call for any change in policy by the American church. Conservative Anglican archbishops said that while they were pleased by the sanctions, the move did not go far

Hillary would ban reparative therapy for minors, says top LGBT group in endorsement

The nation's foremost homosexual and transgender political group has endorsed Hillary Clinton for president, saying she has made banning reparative therapy and allowing transgender military service "a pillar" of her presidential campaign. “All the progress we have made as a nation on LGBT equality -- and all the progress we have yet to make -- is at stake in November," said Human Rights Campaign President Chad Griffin . The HRC said that Clinton has made homosexual and transgender political advocacy "a pillar of her campaign and recently unveiled the most robust and ambitious LGBT plan any candidate for president has ever laid out." Her campaign's platform "specifically calls for   dropping the ban on open transgender military service   [and] outlawing dangerous   'conversion therapy' for minors ...among other proposals that would advance equality and support the LGBT community." Clinton's tenure as Secretary of Sta

US Episcopal Primate: Embracing gay ‘marriage’ is ‘who we are’

The presiding bishop of the U.S. Episcopal Church says that his denomination will not repent of accepting same-sex "marriage." Presiding Bishop Michael Curry , the first African- American to lead U.S. Episcopalians, told leading Anglican archbishops meeting in England that despite recent sanctions imposed by Anglican leadership, the U.S. branch will not reverse its decision to approve of homosexuality. "They heard from me directly that that's not something that we're considering," Curry said. "We made our decision, and this is who we are." The leaders of the worldwide Anglican Communion   suspended   the U.S. Episcopal Church for three years over the issue. The primates of 38 Anglican churches throughout the world voted to bar the U.S. Episcopal Church from representing the denomination on ecumenical and interfaith organizations and from taking part in Anglican decision-making on any issues pertaining to doctrine or polity.
