‘You can’t have’ marriage equality ‘without polygamy’

Motivated by the U.S. Supreme Court ruling legalizing homosexual “marriage,” a Montana polygamist has filed for a second marriage license, so he can be legally wed to two women at once. "It's about marriage equality," said Nathan Collier, using homosexual advocates’ term to support marriage redefinition. "You can't have this without polygamy." Collier, who has has appeared on the TLC reality show Sister Wives with his legal wife Victoria, and his second wife Christine, said he was inspired by the dissent in the Supreme Court decision. The minority Supreme Court justices said in Friday’s ruling it would open the door to both polygamy and religious persecution. “It is striking how much of the majority’s reasoning would apply with equal force to the claim of a fundamental right to plural marriage,” wrote Chief Justice John Roberts . Collier and his wives applied for a second marriage license earlier this week at the Yellowstone County Courthouse in B

Utah stands for traditional marriage

Utah Standing for Marriage I was honored,  on Tuesday , to be able to join hundreds of pro-marriage supporters at the Salt Lake City Capitol Rotunda for  a wonderful rally supporting Utah's marriage amendment. The turnout was great, and I take my hat off to the organizers who did such a fantastic job pulling the event together. But even more so, I owe high praise to the many wonderful Utah citizens I saw there who came out to express their pro-marriage views and who did so with such positivity, kindness, and dignity. In his " State of the State " address the following day, Governor Gary Herbert   stressed how important those elements are to a healthy public discourse , saying that he wished for Utah to "be a model of how to work through honest disagreements with civility and respect." Well, of course Governor Herbert is right, and I can honestly say from what I saw  on Tuesday  that pro-marriage Utahans are already fulfilling that wish.  Unfortun

Church leaders must not perform same-sex ‘weddings,’ use facilities for ceremonies: Mormon statement

SALE LAKE CITY, January 14, 2014 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – In a time when public figures from reality TV stars and fast food franchise presidents are increasingly facing backlash for casual comments about homosexuality, a new policy from the Mormon Church defends traditional marriage and the institution of the family without apology – and “insists” on its right to be heard in the public square. “Changes in the civil law do not, indeed cannot, change the moral law that God has established,” the statement, issued by church leadership on Friday, says. “God expects us to uphold and keep His commandments regardless of divergent opinions or trends in society.” The Mormon temple in Salt Lake City The statement was released just days after U.S. District Judge Robert J. Shelby,  an Obama appointee, struck down Utah's state constitutional marriage protection amendment  and other laws defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Utah won’t recognize 1000+ gay ‘marriages’ contracted after judge struck down marriage amendment

SALT LAKE CITY , January 8, 2014 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – Now that the U.S. Supreme Court has halted gay “marriage” in Utah , the governor has moved to vigorously enforce state law, which is supported by the vast majority of state citizens. In 2004, 66 percent of state voters approved  Amendment 3  to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman in the state Constitution . On December 20, the Friday before Christmas, U.S. District Judge Robert J. Shelby ,  an Obama appointee, struck down Utah's constitutional marriage protection amendment . Now that the U.S. Supreme Court has halted gay “marriage” in Utah, the governor has moved to vigorously enforce state law, which is supported by the vast majority of state citizens. Shelby had indicated he would not rule until January 7. At the time of his ruling, just before Christmas break, the state did not have a  bona fide  attorney general. Governor Gary Herbert, a Republican , immediately began working with Acting Att

Immoral Homosexual marriage stopped by the State

Immoral Homosexual couples in Utah , the United States Supreme Court on Monday blocked further same-sex marriages there while state officials appeal a decision allowing such unions. The development created what Utah’s attorney general called “legal limbo” for the same-sex couples who had wed in the state in recent weeks. With the state’s ban on such unions reinstated for now, many wondered whether their window to marry in Utah had closed forever. “As remarkable and miraculous as it was, we’re still cognizant of the fact that this still is one of the most conservative states in the union,” said Michael Ferguson, half of the first gay couple to receive a marriage license in the state. “I don’t feel a sense of despair or hopelessness or anything remotely close to that. This is part of living in a civil society where we have the rule of law.” Although Utah had warned gay couples that their marriages could be dissolved if it succeeded in its legal appeals, the state had also begun granti

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah , August 27, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - A Salt Lake City TV station which is owned by the Mormon Church has decided against airing “The New Normal,” NBC ’s new homosexual-themed sitcom. A statement from  KSL-TV ‘s parent company, Bonneville International , cited offensive characterizations, crude dialogue and explicit content as the underlying reasons for rejecting the TV show . The show is produced and directed by openly homosexual Ryan Murphy, who also produced “The Playboy Club ,” “ American Horror Story ,” “Glee,” and “Nip/Tuck.” “After viewing the pilot episode of ‘The New Normal,’ we have made the decision to keep it off our fall schedule,”  said  Jeff Simpson, CEO of Bonneville International, according to Deseret News. “For our brand, this program simply feels inappropriate on several dimensions, especially during family viewing time.” Last year KSL-TV rejected NBC’s, “The Playboy Club,” about the original Playboy Club in Chicago in 1961.

Editor’s Note : Homosexuality is one of the most challenging issues that we at LifeSiteNews.com deal with. In all of our reporting on the issue we seek always to integrate the principle of “love in truth” - that is, in all cases to love all people, but also to present them with the truth, which can be extremely challenging if they suffer from same-sex attraction, and especially if they have given themselves to the homosexual lifestyle. Sometimes the mere presentation of the truth is denounced as “hate” by those who advocate the homosexualist agenda. However, there is a considerable group of people who present a challenge to both sides of the debate over homosexuality. Members of this extraordinary group of people admit that they have unwanted same-sex attraction, but also believe that homosexual behaviour is sinful, and homosexual attraction itself “disordered,” and therefore seek to live a life of virtue and chastity. One of the most fascinating of these individuals i
