UK gvmt pledges funding for ‘gay rights’ demonstrations at Sochi Olympics

Image
LONDON, January 31, 2014 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – In the midst of increasing media uproar over the Russian Federation ’s “gay propaganda ban,” the UK ’s Foreign Ministry has waded in, offering funding to homosexualist activist groups. One week before the start of the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Britain’s Culture Secretary Maria Miller said it is “common sense” for the UK to fund Russia’s homosexualists’ demonstrations at the event. Miller told the BBC , “It’s very important indeed we use the opportunity of the Winter Games to underline the importance of treating people fairly, which is at the heart of the Olympic charter and important to the Olympic movement.” Numerous pro-homosexual demonstrations are planned as the Sochi Winter Olympics begin next week. She said that the law has placed, “considerable strains on gay rights.” “We are already putting in place additional support to make sure that gay rights organisations have got the sort of support and expertise that I think ca

Christian guesthouse owners lose appeal of conviction on ‘gay discrimination’

In upholding the conviction, Judges Sir Andrew Morritt , Chancellor of the High Court , Lord Justice Hooper and Lady Justice Rafferty, stated, “in a pluralist society it is inevitable that from time to time, as here, views, beliefs and rights of some are not compatible with those of others.” Peter and Hazelmary Bull The judges reiterated that not allowing homosexuals to rent a room amounted to direct discrimination in violation of the Equality Act (Sexual Orientation) Regulations-2007 , and said they “do not consider that the Appellants face any difficulty in manifesting their religious beliefs, they are merely prohibited from so doing in the commercial context they have chosen.” Peter and Hazelmary Bull, who run the Chymorvah Private Hotel from their home, were taken to court in 2010 by Martyn Hall and his civil partner Steven Preddy. The men had booked a room with the guesthouse as ‘Mr. and Mrs. Preddy’ but were turned away when they arrived and revealed they were a homosexual

Christians treated too harshly by courts: UK Equalities Commission

Image
Image via Wikipedia In what is being interpreted by some as an abrupt “u-turn,” the UK ’s Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has said that Christians are being treated too harshly by judges in legal battles , mostly over complaints brought forward by homosexuals. Commission lawyers say they are concerned that rulings against Christians already made by UK and European courts have created “a body of confusing and contradictory case law.” “Judges have interpreted the law too narrowly in religion or belief discrimination claims,” said a statement posted to the organization’s website. The EHRC also said that it will ask leave to intervene in upcoming cases at the European Court of Human Rights .  In several cases Christians who have come into conflict with homosexualist activists under the UK’s recently installed Equality laws, are pursuing their complaints at the Strasbourg court. These include  Lillian Ladele , the marriage registrar who refused to perform same-sex civil pa

Christians ‘more militant’ and homophobic than Muslims: UK Equalities Chief

Image
Image via Wikipedia Despite Britain being an officially Christian country with a majority Christian population and a Christian heritage reaching back to the 7th century AD , the UK’s equalities chief has said that Christians need to “integrate” better into Britain’s “modern liberal democracy.”  Compared to Muslims , he said, Christians are “more militant” and have a harder time blending in. “There are a lot of Christian activist voices who appear bent on stressing the kind of persecution that I don’t think really exists in this country,” said Trevor Phillips , chairman of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC). The current movement towards doctrinal and moral orthodoxy in the Anglican and Catholic churches is a revival of “an old time religion incompatible with modern society” that is clashing with “mainstream” views, especially on homosexuality, he continued. Phillips told the Sunday Telegraph in an interview this weekend that while most actual cases of religious discr

Unfit to foster: Christianity is a disease

Image
Image via Wikipedia For 15 years, Owen and Eunice Johns served as foster parents to British children. Social workers praised them as “kind and hospitable people” who “respond sensitively to” children. But London’s High Court has just ruled that the Johnses are unfit to foster. The reason: The Johnses are devout Christians , and their views about homosexuality may harm the children in their care. This opinion echoes that Britain’s Equality and Human Rights Commission , which, according to the Daily Mail, claimed foster children risked becoming “infected” by the Johnses’ Christian beliefs . The case came about when the Johnses re-applied to the Derby City Council to foster children after taking a break. But instead of welcoming them back with open arms, social workers expressed concern that the couple’s beliefs were in violation of the new Equality Act Regulations, which protect the rights of homosexuals. The Johnses could not believe that being Christians automatically excluded

Homosexual rights trump religious freedom

Image
Image via Wikipedia I have thought long and hard about whether to blog about a recent legal judgment that has made the headlines here in the UK , and about what I would want to say if I did. There has been much print spilled in some of our newspapers, many blogs written, and perhaps much confusion as a result. In particular there has been much attention drawn to a quote attributed to the Equalities and Human Rights Commission ( EHRC ) submission in this case, which apparently stated that children risk being ‘infected’ by Christian moral beliefs. The Commission  has since apologized for this , stating: Unfortunately a mistake within our legal submission led to an inference that we did not intend and which was misconstrued as suggesting that the Commission equates Christian moral views with an infection. This oversight was caused by a drafting error in our submissions to the court. This should have been picked up in our internal clearance process for the legal documentation and does n

Homosexuals abuse elderly Christian couple

Image via Wikipedia CORNWALL, UK , February 7, 2011 – The Christian owners of the UK Bed & Breakfast who recently went to court for refusing to provide a double room to a homosexual couple, say they are now being deluged with offensive phone calls and blasphemous, obscene emails. Peter and Hazelmary Bull, who run the Chymorvah Private Hotel from their home, were  taken to court  by Martyn Hall and his civil partner Steven Preddy. The pair had booked a room with the guesthouse as ‘Mr. and Mrs. Preddy’ but were turned away when they arrived and revealed they were a homosexual couple.  Following the December 2010 court ruling by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), the Bulls were fined £3,600. Since September the Bulls say their telephone has been ringing constantly with irate callers.  The callers have even tried to reach the Bulls through the hospital where Peter Bull has been recovering from heart surgery; medical staff have had to enforce a password for family
