Sweden’s Lutheran church ‘queers’ Jesus and the Bible for LGBT kids
A diocese in the Lutheran Church of Sweden is offering a guide to LGBT young people that claims that because the word “homosexuality” is not specifically mentioned in the Bible the gay lifestyle is acceptable for Christians. A “survival guide for Christian queer kids” was developed by the Västerås diocese of the Church of Sweden. The official church website welcomes readers with “Under the rainbow, you are not alone!” and notes that the guide, developed by the Västerås diocese, pins together with the broader Swedish church’s “Young Camelot's rainbow camp.” The website offers 10 points, in English and Swedish, that refer to the survival guide for young Christians experiencing same-sex attractions.
