Teacher who created furor with transgender lesson to 5-year-olds wins top award

Image
A California charter school association gave its highest award to the kindergarten teacher whose transgender lesson last summer without warning parents left some of the 5-year-olds traumatized. The decision of the California Charter Schools Association to name Kaelin Swaney its Teacher of the Year makes it “clear the CCSA does not stand with parents,” says Karen England, executive director of Capitol Resource Institute, a pro-family public policy group . “The CCSA should be ashamed of themselves,” England said in a March 27 press release. A teacher at Rocklin Academy Gateway, an elite charter school in the Sacramento suburbs , Swaney touched off a bitter controversy when she read the book “ I am Jazz ” to her students before explaining their classmate, a boy, was now a “girl” and would be called by a girl’s name, England recounted. “I am Jazz” is explicitly pro-transgender and begins: “From the time she was two years old, Jazz knew that she had a girl’s brain in a bo

Philadelphia cuts ties with Catholic Charities over gay foster parenting refusal

The city of Philadelphia will no longer place foster children with parents through the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s Catholic Social Services (CSS) because the archdiocese won’t place kids with same-sex couples. “A short time ago, the City ceased new foster care child intakes with CSS,” Kenneth Gavin, the archdiocese’s chief communications officer , told LifeSiteNews via email. “CSS is, at its core, an institution founded on faith based-principles. As such, CSS conducts its operations based upon deeply held religious beliefs and principles.” The archdiocesan program “recognizes the vital importance of the foster care program in our city and is proud to provide safe and nurturing foster environments to young people in need,” said Gavin. “Given the longstanding partnership between CSS and the city, we hope to continue our productive relationship with the City of Philadelphia to serve those among us in need.” As same-sex “marriage” was introduced and eventually imposed on th

Lesbian extremist - Equal Employment Commissioner

Image
By now you've probably heard of President Trump's disturbing decision to nominate Chai Feldblum , a radical LGBT extremist, to a critically important civil rights post as a Commissioner of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission .  This job puts her in the position of shaping federal law to make supreme LGBT claims and to punish Christians and other people of faith who do not want to personally be involved in affirming the gay agenda , such as same-sex 'marriage.' That is exactly what she wants to do. Feldblum was the first out LGBT person to serve on the commission, a federal government agency that issues charges of discrimination and authorizes the filing of discrimination lawsuits. It sometimes differs with other parts of the government – for instance, it still holds that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 , the federal law against sex discrimination, covers discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. The Justice Department ,

Canadian gov’t agency bans ‘mother’ and ‘father’ to be more gender inclusive

SO GAY MARRIAGE WON'T AFFECT YOU CANADA? THINK AGAIN! Canadian Government employees tasked with connecting citizens to government services can no longer refer to those citizens as “sir,” “madam,” or any other gender-specific term while doing so, according to a new report. Service Canada ’s front-line staff must “use gender-neutral language or gender-inclusive language ” to avoid “portraying a perceived bias toward a particular sex or gender,” out of respect for the country’s “diverse” population. CBC News  reports  that its French-language arm Radio Canada has  obtained  documents detailing the new guidelines. The forbidden terms include “mother,” “father,” “sir,” “madam,” “Mr.,” “Mrs.,” and “Miss.” Instead, workers are directed to call people “parents,” use their full names, and ask them how they wish to be addressed. They are further warned that an In-Person Quality Monitoring Program will watch them for compliance with the new rules. The documents also reveal

LA archdiocese’s religious ed conference infested with transgender ideology

BIBLICAL TRUTH VS NON-BIBLICAL COMPASSION The Archdiocese of Los Angeles , during its annual Religious Education Congress, offered a workshop entitled " Transgender in Our Schools: One Bread, One Body ." The moderator was Arthur Fitzmaurice, and the presenters included  Shen Heckel , a female-to-male transsexual ; Peggy Ehling, a Catholic mother whose daughter was born a biological female but identifies as male; and  Bryan Massingale , a professor of theology at Fordham University . Fitzmaurice is openly gay and currently (since 2010) serves as resource director for the dissident Catholic Association of Lesbian and Gay Ministries ( CALGM ). Concerning the Catechism and the statement that homosexual acts are "intrinsically disordered," Fitzmaurice wrote: "The language certainly still needs to change. It is gravely evil language." In 2012, board members of CALGM, including Fitzmaurice,  refused to sign  an "oath of personal integrity" t

LGBT activist rewrites American classic ‘Little Women,’ makes main character lesbian

Image
Early last year, I  wrote about the Left’s “war on whimsy”  and LGBTQ movement’s attempts to colonize childhood, especially by attempting to hijack and then sexualize beloved childhood characters. They have attempted to claim that Tintin is gay. They’ve insisted that Anne of Green Gables must have been a lesbian because of her loving friendship with Diana. In the realm of entertainment, they’ve launched campaigns to have Sesame Street declare that Bert and Ernie are a gay couple, and that Disney give one of their most popular female characters a girlfriend. And now, they’ve moved on to another hero of children’s literature: Jo March of Louisa May Alcott ’s  Little Women . I’ve always loved Alcott’s books on the March family:  Little Women ,  Little Men , and  Jo’s Boys . Jo was always my favorite, because she was obsessed with her writing. Amy was the one I disliked throughout the entire first book, because she had burned her sister’s manuscript in a fit of rage. Jo,

Yes, the LGBT agenda does ‘directly affect me.’ You, too.

Recent developments in America's courts and legislatures have brought home a reality that I discussed in this space last summer:  Transgender activists seek to undermine parental rights . Transgenderism is part of a  movement  that is hostile to traditional family life. The traditional family is based on the idea that the needs of children are supplied by parents with rights and responsibilities to meet those needs. While the state can interfere in cases of abuse or neglect, generally protecting parents' freedom is the best way to ensure that children are well provided for. Wherever the state deals with children, such as in schools or in foster care , there are bound to be conflicts between parents and the state. This conflict in the sphere of education is why transgender activists spend much time trying to reform the way schools educate. The state has greater power over foster parents than over birth parents because the state has assigned children to foster fami

Anglican cleric disciplined for entering same sex marriage

Image
The recent decision of the England and Wales Court of Appeal in  Pemberton v Inwood  [2018] EWCA Civ 564 (22 March 2018) upholds what was in effect disciplinary action taken against a Church of England clergyman, the Reverend Canon Jeremy Pemberton, on account of his entering into a same-sex marriage. The decision is a sensible one which upholds the religious freedom of the Anglican church to operate in accordance with its fundamental religious beliefs. 1. Background Canon Pemberton is not a “beneficed” clergyman with the care of a parish, but is an ordained priest in the Church of England, who married a same-sex partner in April 2014, after the commencement in the UK of the  Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 . That Act contains very clear statements that the Church of England doctrine of marriage is not to be impacted by the change in “secular” law (see eg s 1(3) which explicitly preserves the operation of any Canons of church law providing that marriage should be
