When secular journalists try to destroy the bible prohibitions on homosexual sin.

Image
Newsweek, in an article by Kurt Eichenwald , says that Christians who regard homosexual practice as sin (or who—horror!—favor prayer in public school) “are God ’s frauds, cafeteria Christians,” “hypocrites,” “Biblical illiterates,” “fundamentalists and political opportunists,” and “Pharisees.” To support his slurs, Eichenwald first tries to undermine reliance on Scripture as a supreme authority for moral discernment and then to show how Christians, oblivious to the problems with biblical inspiration, ignore its clear teaching. Eichenwald claims that the New Testament Greek text is unreliable, ignoring the fact that no other ancient text comes close to being so well attested. For example, while the oldest surviving manuscript for a significant portion of Plato’s fourth-century B.C. dialogues dates to 895, for the first-century a.d. New Testament the dates are ca. 200 (Paul) and the third century (Gospels, Acts), with over a dozen substantial manuscripts from the fourth–sixth centur

Homosexuality: Not natural and against reason

Image
As a Christian trying to decide how to deal with the issue of homosexuality, it is important for you to realize that the vast majority of adults who are so inclined can commit this sin with impunity. Homosexuals use their civic freedom to engage in sin just like other sinners in our country—women are protected by the first amendment to read explicit romance novels, men are permitted to watch R-rated movies which serve no other purpose but to enflame lust, and Mormon parents use their freedom of religious expression to raise their children as Mormons . That being the case, it is a mistake to think of the homosexual movement as a political lobby whose main goal is to get rid of the remaining anti-sodomy statutes in this country. The states that still have these statutes rarely enforce them, if ever. The goal of the homosexual movement is not so much legalization in the law books as legitimization in society. This legitimization takes two rather contradictory forms. On the one hand, homo

Homosexual activism uses public profanity & abuse

Soon after two homosexual men adopted a Korean girl, she played baby Jesus in a Christmas pageant. One “parent” quipped to a Newsweek reporter, “It gives a whole new meaning to the word ‘Mary.’ ” As a Christian trying to decide how to deal with the issue of homosexuality, it is important for you to realize that the vast majority of adults who are so inclined can commit this sin with impunity. In the U.S., the level of freedom with which we have all been blessed has always permitted many so-called “victimless crimes” to take place. Newsweek admits the obvious: America is in the grip of sex addiction

Image
- Newsweek magazine , a rather pedestrian organ of American liberal sensibility, has been compelled to admit the obvious: Americans are addicted to sex in large numbers. Surprisingly enough, the magazine even goes so far as to admit that at least some homosexual activity is related to sex addiction. Newsweek Some hair-raising statistics Newsweek’s “ The Sex Addiction Epidemic ”: 40 million people a day are logging into porn websites, (about 13% of the US population). Up to 9 million may qualify under the strict clinical definition of a “sex addict.” Psychologists specializing in the the disorder have multiplied from 100 a decade years ago to over 1,500 today. Although Newsweek admits that the “digital revolution” has much to do with the situation through the provision of easily-accessible hard-core pornography, it fails to state another obvious point: that the culture of the United States and other western countries is saturated with a “softer” porn that is potentially just as deadl

Reformed Leader against Gay Marriage

Image
Image via Wikipedia I have just finished reading an article from the notoriously left-wing magazine  Newsweek . In the cover story, “The Religious Case for Gay Marriage,” author Lisa Miller argues the case for gay “ marriage ” using the Bible as her authority.  Miller opens with this line: “Let’s try for a minute to take the religious conservatives at their word and define marriage as the Bible does.” She later asserts, “The Bible gives us no good reason to oppose gay marriage.”  It takes no brains but a lot of guts to try to make a case for gay “marriage” (of course, the phrase itself is a contradiction in terms). But it’s just downright crazy to try to make a case for the legitimacy of gay “marriage” using the Bible.   I was recently at an event with Mike Huckabee as the keynote speaker , and I was delighted when the former governor quoted from the book of Judges : “In those days there was no king in Israel . Everyone did what was right in his own eyes” ( Judg. 17:6 ).  This r
