TORONTO, February 26, 2014  – An editor at Canada ’s leading homosexual news agency has defended nudity at Toronto ’s annual Pride parade, which is billed as a “family friendly” event. It’s just “queer people celebrating their sexuality,” wrote Danny Glenwright, managing editor at  Xtra , last week in a piece titled “ Let's get naked this Pride .” A drag queen at Ottawa's Capital Pride in 2013. Glenwright defended exposing the public to what he called “our wanton sexuality and hedonism” as par for the course of expanding gay rights. “It’s what we do with our naked bodies that kept us gays down for so long,” he wrote. Glenwright mockingly suggested that those who have a problem with nakedness at the parade can “stay home” with their children and watch on TV “more palatable aspects of our world” such as “priests raping children.” “I prefer to leave that all behind for a few hours on Pride and head downtown to celebrate gay rights and gay sex — and to protest th

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford reiterates opposition to Pride flag at city hall

TORONTO, February 19, 2014  – Toronto Mayor Rob Ford reiterated his opposition to flying a rainbow flag at city hall during the Sochi Olympics in a segment Tuesday for his Ford Nation  show on YouTube .  Ford had demanded the flag be removed February 7, but appeared to relent at the time. In his video Tuesday, Ford said he was responding to an email from a woman asking if he wants to be re-elected and if so why he does not "support all citizens." The woman labeled him "homophobic" for not attending Toronto 's Pride parade and not wanting a rainbow flag at city hall to protest Russia's ban on homosexual propaganda targeting children. "My son is gay and as a mom that hurts me very deeply," the woman wrote. Toronto Mayor Rob Ford "So, we've had a little bit of controversy - I don't think it's a controversial issue, but," Ford said before reading the email from "Mary in Scarborough." "Well Mary,&q

TORONTO, February 7, 2014  – As a number of Canadian cities  protest Russia's ban on homosexual propaganda  by flying rainbow flags outside their city hall, Toronto ’s Mayor Rob Ford put his foot down today demanding that a rainbow flag raised above Toronto City Hall be taken down. “[The Olympics is] not about someone’s sexual preference,” Ford told reporters at City Hall today, according to the  National Post . “No, I do not agree with putting up the rainbow flag. We should put up the Canadian flag.” Toronto Mayor Rob Ford Reporters watched Ford as he walked outside to inspect a Canadian flag just hung in his office window. “This is the Olympics,” he continued. “This is about being patriotic to your country. We’re Canadians here.” Russia’s recent laws protecting child

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford says he’ll never attend Pride parade: ‘I’m not going to change the way I am’

Image
TORONTO, February 6, 2014  – As the city of Toronto prepares to host World Pride this June, the city’s mayor has stated that on principle he will not be attending. “I’m not going to go to the Pride parade ,” Mayor Rob Ford said at a candidates’ forum for the 2014 mayoral election Wednesday. Amidst catcalls, he continued: “I’ve never been to a Pride parade. I can’t change who I am.” Toronto Mayor Rob Ford While Ford has never attended a pride parade in all his years as mayor, this is the first time that he has admitted that he stays away on principle. In previous years , he has said he could not attend because of a family tradition of spending that weekend at their cottage. Councillor Shelley Carroll accused the mayor of “thinly veiled homophobia” for avoiding Pride and compared him to Russian president Vladimir Putin , calling the mayor’s refusal “an international problem.” “It’s very similar to the embarrassment that Putin is causing his nation and the international hatred towar

Mayor dismissed by refusing to join Homosexual Pride Nudity Parade

Rob Ford , Toronto ’s right-leaning mayor, was booted from office Monday morning after two years of relentless attacks from liberal politicians and media. Rob Ford Ontario Justice Charles Hackland found him guilty of a conflict of interest after he voted on a city council measure involving donations to his football foundation. Ford, who was elected in 2010 on fiscally conservative promises to “stop the gravy train,” had especially angered the city’s liberal stronghold by, among other things,  refusing to attend Toronto’s Gay Pride parade as previous mayors had done. He was also up front about his opposition to same-sex “marriage.” Ford will be allowed to run for the mayor’s office again, however. The judge had the option of barring him from running for up to seven years. Toronto mayor to spend Canada Day at cottage instead of Gay Pride

Image
TORONTO, June 26, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - For the second year in a row Toronto’s mayor Rob Ford has made it clear that he has better things to do on Canada Day than take part in Toronto’s annual “Gay Pride” events. Mr. Ford told the National Post on June 22 he would miss Monday’s gay pride flag-raising due to a previous commitment, while he had earlier said he would not be at the Pride Parade because it takes place on Canada Day, which he usually spends with his family at the cottage. Rob Ford Last year Mr. Ford told the media that spending the July 1st long weekend at the cottage is a long held family tradition, which he intends to maintain. Ford told the Toronto Sun, “We’ve been in Huntsville for the past 30 (years), as long as I can remember, since I’ve been a little boy. I’m carrying on a tradition my father had, last year I was there during the campaign, we’re there every year.” “My family comes first,” Mayor Ford told reporters last year. “I’m going up to

Where’s the ‘pride’ when you bully someone to march in your gay parade?

Image via Wikipedia Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has been slammed in the city’s media all week for his decision not to attend Sunday’s annual Pride parade and the related events. “My family comes first,” says Ford, explaining that they have a 30-year tradition of spending Canada Day weekend at their cottage in Huntsville.   “I’m carrying on a tradition my father had, last year I was there during the campaign, we’re there every year.” For the last week, there has been an unending slew of news articles, columns, and editorials in media such as the Toronto Star and Globe and Mail , all seemingly aimed at pressuring Ford to back down and show up for the parade. This morning, the Toronto Star reports that NOW Magazine has even offered to pay $4,000 for a private jet to fly him in for the parade and then back to the cottage.  “C’mon, Rob, there really is no excuse,” writes NOW editor Michael Hollett . But my question is: Why  should  he go? He has a perfectly sensible reason not to atten

Toronto set to fund Toronto Pride to tune of several hundred thousand dollars

Image
Image via Wikipedia The City of Toronto appears set to fund Toronto Pride with hundreds of thousands of dollars again this year after months of threats from city councilors and Mayor Rob Ford to pull funding . Toronto Pride is seeking a $128,000 cultural grant from the city, in addition to about $250,000 of in-kind services such as police and garbage removal.  Though billed as “family-friendly,” the annual event has often been labeled a “sex parade,” as it regularly features people walking down the streets semi-nude or completely naked, and homosexuals engaging in public sex acts. The funding controversy was not focused on the offensive nature of the Pride event itself, however, despite Mayor Ford’s professed belief in true marriage.  Instead, it centered around the involvement of the group ‘Queers Against Israeli Apartheid’ ( QuAIA ), which has been a major source of division within the Toronto homosexual community due to its controversial political aims.
