Supporting marriage may be offensive: Public school students need permission slips to hear Santorum

GROSSE POINTE, MI, April 11, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – This week, controversy erupted at a public high school in Michigan after former presidential candidate Rick Santorum was  disinvited  from giving a speech to its students because he supports traditional marriage. The Young Americans for Freedom chapter at Grosse Pointe South Public High School invited the two-term U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania to give a speech on “leadership” and secured school approval for the visit. But Grosse Pointe Public School System Superintendent Dr. Thomas Harwood canceled the speech on Monday because of Santorum's rejection of gay “marriage,” according to Breitbart.com. After outcry from the group of teens who raised the $18,000 necessary to bring Santorum to their school, the district relented and will permit the speech to go forward. Bachmann vows fight against porn, abortion, divorce, and same-sex ‘marriage

Image via Wikipedia GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann has signed a pro- family pledge that if she becomes president she will uphold the right to life, the dignity of marriage, and will oppose “all forms of pornography and prostitution.” The Des Moines Register   reports  that Bachmann, a U.S. House Republican congresswoman from Minnesota, is the first to sign “T he Marriage Vow – A Declaration of Dependence upon Marriage and Family ” issued by the Iowa-based social conservative group, the Family Leader. Bachmann is the head of the House Tea Party Caucus , and has a strong record of advocating fiscal and social conservative policies, especially against abortion. Bob Vander Plaats , a former GOP candidate for governor, told reporters at the Iowa Statehouse that his organization wanted those vying to be future leaders of the United States to “pledge personal fidelity to your own spouse and a respect for the marital bonds of others.” Bachmann signed the pledge Thursday.
