Obama invites transgender activist who fought bathroom privacy law to White House to use his bathroom?

President Obama has invited a transgender activist who lobbied against a bathroom privacy law to attend a special White House ceremony celebrating LGBT Pride Month on Thursday. Dr. Renee McLaughlin led efforts against a   Tennessee bill   that would have responded to LGBT activism by barring members of one biological sex from using the intimate facilities of the opposite sex. “I know that will be me in harm's way,” McLaughlin, a 52-year-old post-operative transgender physician, told the Chattanooga   Times Free Press . A group of 60 major corporations opposed the legislation before Rep. Susan Lynn, R- Mt. Juliet ,   withdrew   the bill in April. "On behalf of my company, as well as myself, I'm very active in LGBT issues, particularly around increasing access to health care, and of course social justice issues as well. I've been active in a number of national organizations," McLaughlin said . President Obama mentioned the issue of transgender rest

Kids publisher Scholastic launches massive promo of ‘trans’ book for grade 3s

NEW YORK CITY – The world's largest publisher and distributor of children's books is heavily promoting a pro-transgender book designed for students as young as third grade. The Scholastic Corporation has sent school teachers and librarians 10,000 copies of the book, entitled   George , which was written by self-described "queer activist" Alex Gino.  In the children's book , Gino tells a story of a 10-year-old boy who doesn't feel like a boy, so he tells people he's really "Melissa." Scholastic's website says the target audience for the transgender book is elementary children from 3rd to 7th grade. Gino creates a sympathetic conflict to draw the young reader in by telling of a class play on   Charlotte's Web . The book reads, "George really, really, REALLY wants to play Charlotte. But the teacher says she [meaning George] can't even try out for the part...because she [George] is a boy." NPR, in an interview wi

Transgender politics and gender identity confusion and madness

California has just passed a new law saying school districts may not bar transgender students from same-sex settings, like men's basketball teams or women's locker rooms ( Assembly Bill 1266 ). Opponents promptly submitted a  referendum to overturn the law. But it will take more than the usual political activism to stop the momentum on what some are calling the next major drive for "equality." It will take a serious, sustained program of education in both scientific facts and real respect. Every law has an implicit worldview, a set of assumptions that justifies it. The worldview implicit in the transgender movement is that our physical bodies have no particular value -- that our biology is irrelevant to who we are as persons. Consider the language used. Several states and school districts have passed laws on “transgender discrimination,” and most read something like this (from a 2011 California law ): "Gender . . . includes a person's gender identity and
