The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is planning a boycott of North Carolina over its law ( HB-2 ) requiring people to use the bathroom matching their biological sex . The NAACP says the law amounts to "gender discrimination." They are urging major sports teams and organizations, religious bodies and conferences, and music stars to refuse to schedule any activities in the state. NAACP national president Cornell Brooks   said   at a press conference that "children … are being imperiled" by gender separate bathrooms. North Carolina chapter president William Barber called the state "a battleground ... for the soul of America ." The group equates homosexual and transgender affirmation with civil rights. The state of North Carolina is losing more athletic events as a result of its gender-specific bathroom law. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced Monday night that it will pull seven championship games out of the state, including the first and second rounds of NCAA men’s Division I basketball tournament. The "Road to the Final Four" games were scheduled to be played in Greensboro. The NCAA governing board also announced it was   pulling college soccer, golf, tennis, lacrosse and baseball   events out of North Carolina.  North Carolina Republican Party spokeswoman Kami Mueller responded with incredulity. Northern Territory chief minister says he supports anti-bullying parts of program but not ‘grooming kids in their sexuality’ The Northern Territory chief minister, Adam Giles, has gone back on an earlier commitment to enact the Safe Schools program, saying he supported the anti-bullying measures but not those which groomed children’s sexuality. Giles had been addressing a people’s forum debate before Saturday’s election , which largely focused on how Territorians could trust either party to govern. President Barack Obama’s transgender-boosting administration “fails to grasp the serious privacy and public safety problems” caused by its effort to prohibit single-sex bathrooms and to urge individuals to decide which of the two sexes’ private bathrooms they desire to use at any given moment, says a legal brief prepared by North Carolina. North Carolina and its GOP governor, Pat McCrory, have filed the brief in United States District Court to answer the Obama administration’s lawsuit against the state’s privacy-protecting ‘HB2’ law, properly called the “Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act.” The Obama administration claims the law, passed in March, violates the civil rights of gay and transgender individuals. The State argues in its brief : As the Act’s text and legislative history make clear, the General Assembly was focused – not on disparaging transgender individuals – but rather on a commonsense concern for preserving everyone’s privacy and safety in intimate settings

The nationwide boycott of Target stores is having a major effect. Their decision to allow biological men to force their way into restrooms and changing rooms reserved for women and girls has resulted in a massive loss of customers and cost Target billions. Their revenue is down more than 7% and their stock price has dropped precipitously. Now Target hopes to recoup those losses by announcing they will provide a private restroom in all their stores for anyone concerned about protecting their privacy. While this is a step in the right direction, the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) calls on Americans to Say No To Target by continuing to boycott Target until their dangerous policy is reversed. The Obama Administration is making noises about cutting North Carolina off from federal funding after last month’s legislative move by the governor and some state lawmakers to protect the state’s residents’ privacy and safety. Administration officials announced Friday they were reviewing whether the   Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act   overturning a Charlotte city ordinance allowing men to use women’s restrooms and showers should result in the federal government withholding funding for schools, highways and housing, to the tune of billions of dollars. Experts have indicated that such an extreme step was not likely, at least not right away, according to The Charlotte Observer , but the administration’s review is sending a message to North Carolina that there could be consequences for its new law.
