Gallup poll: Fewer believe people are ‘born gay’

Image
WASHINGTON, D.C. , May 30, 2014 ( LifeSIteNews.com ) – The number of Americans who believe homosexuality is an inborn trait is on the decline, according to a new  Gallup poll . In 2013, 47 percent of Americans told the polling company they believed that homosexuals were “born gay .” In 2014, that number dropped to 42 percent. Meanwhile, 37 percent of Americans surveyed reported believing homosexuality is the result of “upbringing and environment,” up from 33 percent in 2013. “Though being gay as the result of genetics or other factors before birth has become a considerably more mainstream belief and is now mentioned by a plurality of Americans, it is still one held by slightly less than half of the U.S. population,” the pollsters explained in a statement. “This disagreement seems likely to continue as long as the scientific community remains agnostic about the question.” Gallup noted that the American Psychological Association has refused to take a position on the origi

Youth need truth on homosexuality not the gay agenda!

In 2013 California and New Jersey passed laws that ban licensed mental health providers from offering sexual orientation change efforts ( SOCE ) to minors. Massachusetts,  Pennsylvania ,  Ohio, New York , Minnesota and Maryland are considering similar legislation. Recently, however, this legislation died in the Virginia House, and a stay was imposed in California pending review by the  Supreme Court of the United States . To be clear, the present debate concerns banning voluntary (not coerced) SOCE by professionals for minors who are distressed by their unwanted homosexual feelings. Support for this ban is based upon four claims. First, that sexual orientation is a fixed, inborn trait. Secondly, that homosexual attractions experienced during adolescence are enduring. Thirdly, that homosexual behavior carries no increased health risks as compared to heterosexual behavior, and finally, that scientific research proves SOCE is universally harmful. None of these claims, however, is based i

Shouldn’t same-sex oriented teens be given a chance to change and know the truth?

Homosexual activist says there is no gay gene

Image
 - One of the untouchable dogmas of the homosexualist movement is the assertion of the existence of a "gay gene", or a genetic marker that causes same-sex attraction . The assertion of a genetic factor in homosexual preference has never been demonstrated by scientists and now at least one prominent campaigner in the British homosexualist movement has admitted this fact. Peter Tatchell , an Australian -born British homosexual activist who founded the "direct action" group OutRage! that specialises in media stunts such as disrupting Christian religious services, wrote on Spiked Online that he agrees with the scientific consensus that there is no such thing as a "gay gene." Contrary to the findings of some researchers who have tried to posit a purely genetic origin for same-sex attractions, Tatchell wrote, " Genes and hormones may predispose a person to one sexuality rather than another. But that’s all. Predisposition and determination are two dif

Born gay with gay genes?

Only nine politicians in the Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly voted last week to legalise homosexual marriage on behalf of all Australians. The nine were a predictable Labor-Green alliance and were opposed by eight Liberals. And also this week the Labor-Green government in Tasmania tried and failed to revive its recently rejected bill for same-sex marriage. A political party is in terminal decline when common sense amongst its leaders is no longer common. Throughout recorded history, common sense has understood that marriage is not just about adults – it’s about the needs and rights of children, too. Not so with new Labor, whose leaders have succumbed to the adult-only narcissism of “marriage equality”. Union leader Paul Howes told the Labor party this month “you do not belong with us” if you oppose the “fair go” of letting two men marry. But nowhere in his speech was there any consideration of a fair go for children created within such a marriage, who are forc

No one is born gay

This image shows the coding region in a segment of eukaryotic DNA. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) It is reasonable to assume that sexual behavior--in any and all of its manifestation—is directed by the activity of many, possibly hundred of genes. But the exact and specific type of sexual expression is also influenced by countless environmental forces that interact with the genes in complex ways (Hubbard, 1997; Ridley, 2003). Except for the rare physical abnormalities (such as Huntington’s Disease ) at the present time, there is no evidence of a direct causative link between a single gene and complex psycho-social behavior such as sexual preference (Collins, 2006). This is not my opinion but read any book on behavior genetics or molecular biology and the authors will unanimously agree that, at present, there is no gay gene. Lewontin et al. stated this explicitly: “Up to the present time no one has ever been able to relate any aspect of human social behavior to any  particu
