Top 12 studies showing risks to couples in same-sex unions

Last month the LGBT-activist Human Rights Campaign (HRC) carried out its latest campaign  –  targeting eight Catholic bishops in the U.S.  who publicly expressed support for traditional marriage, the Courage apostolate and, in some cases, even quoted the constant teaching of the Church (see  CCC nos. 2357 -2359 ) concerning homosexual conduct and persons with same-sex attraction ( SSA ). The aim of this Synod-related effort was to push for the acceptance of homosexual conduct and unions by the Catholic Church and to marginalize bishops who spoke out against such conduct and unions. The demonstrations against these bishops likely had no effect on the Extraordinary Synod or the targeted bishops. The HRC-friendly confusing language on homosexual persons and unions in the interim report was replaced by paragraph 55 in the final, official  Relatio , which reverted to Catholic teaching as set forth in the Catechism. Yet, a surprising one-third of the bishops at the Extraordinary Synod

New Pope shows his pro immoral homosexual hand?

Putting the official stamp on months of rumours and what  LifeSite had confirmed  on Sept. 17, the Vatican announced today that Pope Francis has removed Cardinal Raymond Burke from his position as prefect of the Vatican's Apostolic Signatura - the highest court of the Catholic Church. Instead, the cardinal, who until today was the highest ranking American at the Vatican, will be sent to serve as the patron for the Order of the Knights of Malta.  The move to the largely ceremonial position is almost universally being reported as a demotion for the outspoken cardinal, who is widely viewed as the number one English-speaking defender of the Catholic Church's teaching on life and family issues. However, the move by Pope Francis comes as little surprise to observers of Cardinal Burke 's career. Within months of the pope's election, he  removed  the cardinal from his position as a member of the Congregation for Bishops, where he had been able to exert considera

No appeal over anti-Catholic, pro-gay adoption San Francisco resolution: U.S. Supreme Court

Image
Image via Wikipedia The U.S. Supreme Court has denied a Catholic group’s lawsuit over a 2006 resolution by San Francisco city officials, which condemned the Catholic Church over its prohibition of same-sex couples adopting. The high court rejected without comment on Monday the appeal filed by the Thomas More Law Center on behalf of two Catholic citizens in San Francisco and the anti-defamation Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights . The gruops were challenging the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ’ decision to allow the San Francisco resolution to stand. The public interest firm filed a petition for review with the high court in February, alleging that the federal courts had ignored San Francisco’s violation of the First Amendment’s establishment clause in a resolution that they said amounted to a state attack on Catholics’ religion.  In 2006, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors had unanimously passed a declaration against the Vatican, saying that its directive req

Homosexuals are betrayed

Monsignor Vincent Foy TORONTO, Canada,  On January 12, 2010, Archbishop Raymond Burke , former Archbishop of St. Louis , Missouri, and now Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signature , gave the homily at the annual Red Mass of Saint Mary’s Basilica, Diocese of Phoenix.   He said “We see before our eyes the evil fruits of life in a society which pretends to take the place of God in making its laws and in giving its judgments, in a society in which those in power decide what is right and just, according to their desires and convenience, even at the cost of perpetrating the gravest harm upon their neighbour.” Among the evil fruits of this decadent age there is an unparalleled betrayal of homosexuals.  That evil fruit we consider here briefly, emphasizing the betrayal as the rejection of justice and charity towards a significant number of God’s sons and daughters. To reach right conclusions and point the way to undoing the betrayal it is essential to consider the truth

Homosexual adoptions is not a right

Image
Image via Wikipedia Adoption is an ancient institution which we find in the historical records of many civilizations. On some occasions it was done to take care of orphans or abandoned children, in other cases it was a means of giving continuity to a family that lacked descendants.  Under the influence of Christianity it was accepted that the main reason to adopt a child was for the benefit of the child, when he lacked parents or his parents were unable to perform their parental duties. It is also perfectly legitimate that when a married couple judges that they can raise more children than they were given naturally, that they may adopt out of a spirit of charity and generosity to foster the good of the children. With activists campaigning for adoption rights for homosexual couples, however, it is time to consider some basic truths, and recall why it is both just and crucial that we prevent such false and destructive “rights” from being codified in the laws of our states and our na

Praying to the god of anti-homophobia at Catholic school board?

Image
Image via Wikipedia The Toronto Catholic school board , the largest in Canada, opened a workshop to develop their policy on equity and inclusive education earlier this year with a prayer calling the homosexual inclination a “manifestation of [God’s] goodness.” The revelation has Catholic parents calling foul and pleading for the bishops of Ontario to have another look at the equity policy. The prayer, read at the January 24th meeting, asked Christ to “give us all the grace to own our sexual identity, whatever its orientation, as another manifestation of your goodness.” “Give us the vision to recognize and reject the homophobia around us and in our own hearts, as well,” it added. The revelation heightens concerns that some at the board are using the equity policy, which comes as part of the Ontario government’s mandatory and controversial equity and inclusive education strategy, to subvert Catholic teaching in the area of homosexuality.
