Christian dad fighting for parental rights smeared in local press

The Hamilton-area Christian father who is suing the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board after the board refused his repeated requests over two years to withdraw his children from classes dealing with homosexuality and other sensitive issues, is coming under attack from the local newspaper , The Spectator . Dr. Steve Tourloukis, the man behind the lawsuit, which seeks to ensure that he is notified before controversial subjects are discussed in class, is a dentist, a member of the Greek Orthodox Church , and has a daughter in grade one and a son in grade four. Education Minister supports school boards in refusing parents’ right to pull kids from sex classes which includes graphic homosexuality

TORONTO, Sept. 12, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – As a Hamilton father  fights his school board  in court for the right to protect his children from classes on sexuality that he considers objectionable, Ontario’s Education Minister is backing the board. PARLIAMENT will once again be embroiled in the issue of gay marriage from today as two private members' bills to legalise such unions are debated in the House of Representatives, with a vote on the bills likely to come after the winter session of Parliament. A report by the House of Representatives social policy and legal affairs committee on the two bills, one from Labor's Stephen Jones and one from the Greens MP Adam Bandt and the independent MP Andrew Wilkie , will also be tabled this morning. The committee's chairman, Labor MP Graham Perrett , said it was the largest committee inquiry ever held, with responses ''pretty strongly in support'' of change. The committee used an online poll to gauge community sentiment, with 276,437 people responding and 64 per cent backing legalisation.
