Ex-gay threatened with jail time, fines for testifying about leaving homosexuality

Image
After a Christian charity worker who walked away from homosexuality following his conversion to Christ offered his powerful testimony on a radio show, law enforcement threatened him with possible jail time and a stiff fine for allegedly breaching his country’s law banning LGBT “conversion practices.” The Maltese government’s action against Matthew Grech, 33, is believed to be the first of its kind and is being viewed as a test case by free speech groups and Christian organizations that aim to protect the rights of former gays and lesbians to tell their stories and live freely without harassment from LGBT groups. Some of the latter assert that Christian teaching on marriage and debate surrounding LGBT lifestyles must be treated as criminal offenses. Grech’s message is simple: A decade ago, he experienced conversion to Christ, realized that sexual acts outside of male/female marriage are a “sin,” and freely chose to give up the homosexual life he had been living. If convicted, he faces u

Christian doctor sues UK gov’t after he was fired for refusing to use transgender pronouns

Image
A Christian doctor is asking the British government to allow him to use pronouns for his patients that match their biological sex. Dr. David Mackereth, who was fired by Britain’s Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) because he did not address so-called “transgender” claimants by their pronouns of choice, said after appearing before a tribunal on Tuesday that he wants "the right to practice medicine as a Christian doctor." The father of four claims that DWP is in breach of the Equality Act and his right to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion. He had been with the National Health Service for 26 years. Dr. Mackereth, 56, said using “transgender pronouns” violates his conscience. In 2018, he told The Telegraph, “I believe gender is defined by biology and genetics. And that as a Christian the Bible teaches us that God made humans male or female.” He said he fears that Britain’s Equality Act 2010 endangers free speech for Christians. According to DWP, Macke

Can practicing homosexuals be saved?

Image
If "practising homosexual " means a person who is openly approving of homosexuality and is engaged in it, can this person be saved ?  Yes and no.   Yes, because any sinner has the potential of becoming saved.  On the other hand, if the person is professing to be a Christian yet is unrepentantly practising homosexuality, then it would appear that he would not be saved.   1 John 2:4  says, "The one who says, 'I have come to know Him,' and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him."  So, a homosexual can be saved, but once saved the Spirit of God will move that person to repent of the sin of homosexuality.  If a person continues to practice homosexuality unrepentantly, promoting it, etc., then that person would not be demonstrating evidence of regeneration. But then again, a person could become saved, still fall into homosexuality, be convicted by the Spirit of sin, and all the while seeking to break free from it.  So

New CA Bill Outlaws Helping Anyone with Unwanted Same-Sex Desires or Gender Confusion

Image
The chair of the California LGBT Caucus recently introduced a bill to outlaw Christians and others with a Biblical view of sexuality from helping people with unwanted same-sex desires or gender identity confusion. Assemblyman Evan Low’s bill, AB 2943 , declares “advertising, offering to engage in, or engaging in sexual orientation change efforts with an individual” as illegal under state’s consumer fraud law. The implications of this legislation spread far beyond regulating the type of counselling offered by licensed counsellors, who are already banned from helping minors with unwanted same-sex attractions . Several legal experts have confirmed that this bill targets the ability of religious non-profits, churches, and pastors from teaching and practising their faith regarding sexual orientation and gender. “The language used in this bill casts a wide net calculated to entangle religious institutions and ministers,” said Kevin Snider, Chief Counsel Pacific Justice Institute . “

What does the Bible say about homosexuality - Sean McDowell and Matthew Vines

Image
What does the Bible say about homosexuality . An interview with Sean McDowell and Matthew Vines . How did Jesus view sex and marriage? In this video, Sean and Matthew discuss important biblical passages related to the biblical view of homosexuality. Last night I had the opportunity to discuss the Bible and Homosexuality with Matthew Vines. It was hosted by Living Oaks Church as part of their “Get a Grip” series. Here is my opening statement. I normally don't post an article this long, and I rarely write out a speech word-for-word. But here it is nonetheless! My thanks to pastor Jon and the church for hosting this conversation, and my respect to Matthew for being willing to enter into this dialogue at a church that holds the historic Christian view on sex and marriage. I appreciate Jon’s opening statement. This issue is too important to be decided by personality, experience, or likability. Don’t be tempted to believe something because you like me or because you don’t like

What is God doing about this homosexual uprising?

Image
The Bible is very very clear about the sin of homosexuality. In fact, in Romans 1 the Apostle Paul points out that homosexuality are given over to their shameful sinful lusts. They exchange truth for a lie. God abandons them to experience the full force of their sin. God also gives them a depraved mind and they become filled with all forms of wickedness.  HOW DOES GOD DO THIS JUDGEMENT? By the activity of Satan , the lawless one uses “wicked deception,” and this deception works on those who “refused to love the truth .” As a consequence, “ God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false.”  But God is not simply deluding people without cause. Here, he confirms the unbelief of those who refuse the truth. To those who refuse, he deludes. He does not first delude, causing people to refuse the truth. They did this first. You could say it this way: God is not the source of their delusion, but rather their hearts are. So, God appears to con

Iowa University Christian student group reinstated by Federal judge

Image
A student Christian group at the University of Iowa   has been reinstated  as a registered student organisation by a US Federal District Court Judge, after previously having its status revoked by University authorities. The student group , Business Leaders in Christ (“BLinC”), had been penalised because it would not agree to appoint to its leadership a same-sex attracted student, who said that they would not undertake to comply with the group’s commitment to Biblical sexual values. The University claimed that this was a breach of its Policy on Human Rights , forbidding discrimination on the basis of, among other things, sexual orientation . BLinC claimed, however, that the issue was not the student’s  orientation , but their express refusal to modify their  behaviour  to accord with Biblical norms. The case illustrates a number of important issues in this area. It should be noted that the decision of US District Court Judge Rose, which can be found  here , involves the g

Christian politician regrets saying gay sex is not a sin

Image
A former leading British politician voiced his “regret” last week at having said in 2017 that homosexual sex was not sinful, betraying his Christian beliefs . Tim Farron , an evangelical Christian , resigned as the leader of the Liberal Democrat Party in 2017 after months of journalists and politicians demanding to know his beliefs about homosexual sex. Farron finally responded to a question in Parliament as to whether or not he thought homosexuality was a sin with “I do not.” In April 2017, he told the British Broadcasting Commission ( BBC ), “I don’t believe gay sex is a sin.” But he did - he simply folded. Farron told interviewers at  Premier Christian Radio  that he had found himself in a situation in which “I either had to be compromising my faith, frankly, saying things I thought were not true, or be true to my faith and be in a situation where I sucked all the attention that ought to be going to me being the mouthpiece of the party, away from our main message.”
