The Chinese community petition against the so-called Safe Schools program is to be debated Thursday in the NSW Parliament, prompting the Australian Christian Lobby to call on parents to fill the Assembly’s public gallery in a show of parental concern. The petition, signed by 17,000 people is scheduled to be debated at 3:30pm. ACL ’s NSW Director, Mark Makowiecki said the petition was a demonstration of the ground-swell of concern about the gender ideology prevalent in Safe Schools.  “For two years the Safe Schools program has had a free pass in New South Wales , but the community is beginning to realise the dangerous contested gender theory that it promotes,” Mr Makowiecki said. A leading family law and child-protection expert has criticised the teaching of radical gender theory in classrooms across the country, likening the “odd and unscientific” beliefs promoted by groups such as the Safe Schools Coalition to those espoused by Scientology . Sydney University law profes­sor Patrick Parkinson has called for an extensive overhaul of the Safe Schools program, having taken issue with its ­promotion of “exaggerated statistics” on the prevalence of transgender and intersex conditions in the community to support its creators’ “belief that gender is fluid and can even be chosen”. SYDNEY,– Australian school children are to be told that heterosexuality is not the norm, according to a new education department pilot program called “Proud Schools.” “ Heterosexism ” is one of the evils that the Proud Schools program is intended to stamp out, along with “homophobia and transphobia,” education officials have said. According to the minutes from the Proud Schools steering committee on March 22, 2011, the program focuses on reversing “the dominance of heterosexism rather than on homophobia.” The program defines “heterosexism” as the practice of “positioning heterosexuality as the norm for human relationship,” according to the Proud Schools Consultation Report. “It involves ignoring, making invisible or discriminating against non-heterosexual people, their relationships and their interests. Heterosexism feeds homophobia.” The committee suggested that teachers must monitor the playground in order to stamp out “heterosexist” language among children in out-of-class hours.

Students at 12 NSW high schools are being taught it is wrong and " heterosexist " to regard heterosexuality as the norm for human relationships.
