Transgender ideology is a recent invention that is having a “corrosive impact” on society, a British think tank has affirmed.  Civitas, the Institute for the Study of Civil Society, published in June a monograph by researcher Joanna Williams, its director of freedom, democracy, and victimhood, titled “The Corrosive Impact of Transgender Ideology.” “This report explores the social impact of changed understandings of gender and, in particular, the emergence of the idea of transgender,” Williams wrote.   “A new orthodoxy that gender identity is brain-based and innate, something we need to discover for ourselves and then reveal to a readily accepting world, has rapidly gained ground,” she continued.   “This seemingly benign view has consequences for how we socialise children and organise society. A UK High Court judge ruled today that it was “unlawful” for police to investigate a man for writing tweets critical of men who say they’re ‘women’ and to record it as a “hate incident.” Mr. Justice Julian Knowles stated that for a member of Humberside Police to go to the workplace of Harry Miller and upbraid him for his political opinions was a “disproportionate interference" with Miller’s freedom of expression.  Last January,  Humberside police officers went to Miller’s business to investigate a third-party complaint that Miller had posted “transphobic” tweets. Miller had retweeted a poem that poked at transgenderism which allegedly included the lines, “Your breasts are made of silicone, your vagina goes nowhere.” Miller had also written in a tweet: “I was assigned mammal at birth, but my orientation is fish. A lesbian couple in California who say their 11-year-old son Tommy who wants to be a girl named Tammy are giving their child hormone blockers that delay the onset of puberty -- so that he can have more time that he can have more time to decide if he wants to change his gender. The couple’s supporters say the Hormone Blocking Therapy has only minor side effects and is appropriate for a child who is unsure of his gender. "This is definitely a changing landscape for transgender youth," said Joel Baum, director of education and training for Gender Spectrum , a California-based non-profit group. "This is about giving kids and their families the opportunity to make the right decision." But critics of the treatment say 11-year-olds are not old enough to make life-altering decisions about changing their gender, and parents should not be encouraging them. They do not want to actually debate the merits of the issues so they declare anything they oppose to be "discrimination" and "anti-gay" and attempt to demonize all those who oppose their agenda. If it wasn’t for double standards, some liberals would have none at all. That seems to be the lesson from the past few weeks, where liberals have displayed three distinct forms of hypocrisy. Liberal governors and mayors signed travel bans to North Carolina and Mississippi , CEOs of major corporations pledged boycotts and relocations, and Bruce Springsteen and Bryan Adams have canceled scheduled concerts in those states. At issue are  a Mississippi  law that narrowly and carefully protects the rights of religious charities, small businesses, and select public servants and  a North Carolina  law that reasonably protects privacy and safety in public restrooms, while leaving private institutions free to set their own bathroom policies. These laws, apparently, are now unacceptable to some voices on the left. But are they really? USA High schools (and many middle schools ) across the country will be hosting the LGBT movement ’s annual “ Day of Silence .” During this all-day event, student activists and even school officials encourage students to be silent for the entire day as a sign of solidarity with the international LGBT movement. Students are encouraged to wear special pro-homosexual badges, stickers, and bracelets -- which are often handed out at the school entrances that day. There are also pro- LGBT posters in the hallways, handouts, and even workshops. Getting young people to identify emotionally with the overall LGBT movement (going beyond just the “sexual orientation” issue) is very important to the national activists.
