Marriage Celebrant hands back licence: no to homosexual marriage

Image
Because I reject the definition of “marriage” which was rammed through by the politicians last year – what I call an ‘act of cultural vandalism’ – I have resigned as a state-sanctioned Marriage Celebrant . I understand and accept that other celebrants will not agree with my stance. I respect their conscience on this important issue. However, I will still promote marriage, and will perform marriage ceremonies for couples wanting to marry. I believe in the purpose and covenant of marriage – but it will be marriage between a man and a woman, as defined by culture, history and nature; not defined by politicians and political correctness . The couple can simply choose to go to the local registry office before or after the wedding if they wish to register their marriage in the eyes of the state and receive the state’s recognition and benefits (if there are any benefits left!) But it would be wrong of me to allow myself to be appointed by the state to carry out that duty while rejecting

Homosexual marriage is not inevitable

Reason Magazine , which is editorially a pro-gay marriage libertarian slant. Reason   reports on a recent Fox News poll  about gay marriage that asked, "using two different word frames," whether folks support or oppose same-sex 'marriage': and the two methods yielded dramatically different results. But both put the lie to the argument that somehow redefining marriage is somehow inevitable. The first frame asked about "changing the definition of the word marriage to also include same-sex couples", and found that  Americans oppose redefining marriage by 56 percent to 39 percent. But in the same poll Fox asked if respondents would favor "legalizing same-sex marriage." Here Americans split 46 percent in favor and 47 percent opposed with 7 percent undecided—still far short of the supposed majority other mainstream media outlets would have you believe support same-sex marriage. Americans don't really believe gay unions are marriages. W

Two major polls say: Marriage should NOT be redefined

Fox News Channel (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Here's another good thing you probably haven't heard about: two major polls demonstrate that the majority believe marriage SHOULD NOT BE redefined. First, a Rice University poll has surfaced showing that a majority — 53% — STILL believe marriage should only be between a man and a woman! This comparative study demonstrates that the idea that droves of Americans are changing their minds in favor of redefining marriage is a myth. And today news of a recent Fox News poll has come to light that is even better. Fox asked the question, Would you approve or disapprove of changing the definition of the word marriage to also include same-sex couples? 56% said they would disapprove, while only 39% would approve! But the results of these surveys are being largely ignored in the media because they don't fit into the drum beat that says same-sex 'marriage' is "inevitable." It is this lie of "inevitability&qu

Redefining marriage threatens social advances of women, rights of children: UK law professor

LONDON , November 7, 2012  – The debate about same-sex “marriage” in the UK is not, as the government and other supporters would have it, about “equality,” “rights” or “fairness,” but about “using law to change the meaning of the social institution of marriage.” So says Julian Rivers, a Professor of Jurisprudence at the University of Bristol Law School. Any new definition of marriage that would include partnerships not based on a single man and a single woman for the procreation and protection of children, would “unavoidably call into question its exclusivity, its permanence and even its sexual nature,” said Rivers in a report issued by the Jubilee Centre , “a Christian social reform organisation that offers a biblical perspective on issues and trends of relevance to the general public”. Titled “ Redefining Marriage: a case for caution ,” it is being submitted to the government as part of the ongoing consultation on “gay marriage.” Professor Julian Rivers “Changing the

There can be no compromise on same-sex ‘marriage’

August 2, 2012 ( thePublicDiscourse.com ) - It was only yesterday, was it not, that we were being assured that the redefinition of marriage to include same-sex partnerships would have no impact on persons and institutions that hold to the traditional view of marriage as a conjugal union? Such persons and institutions would simply be untouched by the change. It won’t affect your marriage or your life, we were told, if the law recognizes Henry and Herman or Sally and Sheila as “married.” Those offering these assurances were also claiming that the redefinition of marriage would have no impact on the public understanding of marriage as a monogamous and sexually exclusive partnership. No one, they insisted, wanted to alter those traditional marital norms. On the contrary, the redefinition of marriage would promote and spread those norms more broadly. When some of us warned that all of this was nonsense, and pointed out the myriad ways that Catholics, Evangelicals, Mormons, Eastern

Sexual Sin & Bondage: What Does It Look Like To Be Healed? Part 1 Written by Dr. David Kyle Foster    Defining the Terms Properly  In any debate, the person who defines the words that are used in the discussion has the greatest influence on the thinking of those observing.  Being the definer of words implies knowledge, expertise and authority. It's a very subtle trick to try to redefine the terms used in an argument - a kind of intellectual "stacking of the deck " used by cults and other heretics throughout history. The gatekeepers of our modern culture know of this power and have for decades been redefining the terms and ideas that fashion and direct our social beliefs and actions. Two lesbians are now a "family ". Killing unborn children is now a "right ".  Lying with a man as with a woman is now "good ", "natural " and "the creative will of God ". And as if that weren't absurd enough, our natio
